After Russian Warships, Now U.S.’ Nuclear-Powered Submarine Reaches Cuba | Confrontation Imminent?

A day after Russian warships arrived in Cuba, the U.S. has also sent a fast-attack submarine. The USS Helena sailed into Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, the U.S. Southern Command said. The nuke-powered Los Angeles-class submarine arrived at the U.S. naval base in Cuba on June 13. The U.S. Southern Command said the USS Helena reached Cuba as part of a scheduled port visit. On June 12, a four-ship Russian task force sailed into Havana on a long-range expedition. Watch this video to know more.

everyone calls it "Cuban missile crisis" - actually, crisis started in 1961 by USA placing Jupiter Nukes in Italy and Turkey - after all USSR objection and attempt for negotiation *was completely ignored* by US only than USSR placed nukes in Cuba in October 1962 - than Kennedy and Khrushchev opened communication and US accepted to remove Jupiters from Italy and Turkey, and than USSR removed missiles from Cuba as well - so it should be called "Italy and Turkey missile crises" in fact

If a U.S. sub stopped by the U.S. port there it was likely long planned. They tend to not send sub captains text messages changing their patrol areas. Actually thinking about it port calls are usually not announced out of OpSec. I’ll bet this one was to drive home our sub shadowed theirs the entire way and wasn’t detected.
