To be fair though, at least with the Shuffle it had the excuse of being a much smaller and cheaper device that needed to save space to keep the cost down.
My Shuffle working from 2012 to now with original battery! Have problem with jack (ghillen)hole, actually, I have fresh new donor and strong procrastination ^^
i remember begging my mom for one of these all through 4th grade and once i got onto honor roll at the end of the year she got me one as a gift, i still have it with me now even though i'm 23 and she still is kicking :) it's fun going back and listening to all my old music i have downloaded on it!
i had a shuffle, it was great! I used to record all my 6th grade study material and put it on it so that i could listen to myself give myself the answers. it was way more work but i felt like tom cruise in mission impossible. loved that thing especially when i finally got to borrow my dads friends hard drive of all the mp3's
I listen to music all day but wanted to reduce my screen time, so I bought a shuffle from 2014 (!). The battery seems to work well since it wasn't used often. Best purchase I've made this year.
i had this model as a kid! at first i was upset cause i wanted a Touch, but i quickly came around to love the absolute dingus out of it up until i lost it sometime during high school, unfortunately.
These are really great for exercising for just general outdoorsy stuff. I use it for whenever I go for walks or longboard. Just clip it to my pocket and go. Need to change music just press the button, don't need to worry about touching a scroll wheel or waking up a touchscreen. I also use the KZ earphones Wade would talk about often and they really do have great audio quality which just feels so liberating on a good quality ipod shuffle. This generation of shuffle also uses ssd instead of flash storage so it just lasts forever(contrary to the one in this vid). But when it's gone it's basically not worth fixing, so if you decide to get one, maybe grab a few.
i have so much nostalgia for the shuffle. my dad bought a 2nd gen blue one as a more portable substitute for our U2 ipod. i used to use it all the time and most of the music was daft punk which is very indicative of the time lmaoooo. no idea where it went, probably gave it away or something. it was a neat lil guy for it’s time and if i ever saw one out in the wild, i’d buy it. still have the U2 dingus tho. once everyone else in the family turned to streaming, it got passed down to me and boy, does he get taken care of.
I loved my shuffle. The only issue was that you couldn’t tell what the battery life was. I got the next gen of shuffle or whatever with the screen for a Christmas and that’s what made it the perfect little device for me I love the shuffle line so much
I got my shuffle when was 13 (2013 lul) and still using it today, sometimes the battery goes wild but normally lasts 1 day of constant use. I remember that brand new lasted 5 days or so and I always forget to charge it so when I was heading to school, always had a day with battery low warning, I've never charge it before going to school because of how good the battery it was
I still have one of these that my mom let me buy back in 5th grade. That thing is a tank and still works. It was also one of the cheapest Apple devices you could ever buy, I think it was only like $50. (Also, you can replace the battery in some Bluetooth headphones, at least over-ear. It is actually stupid easy to open my Sony's, I'll probably just replace the battery soon for like $15 rather than buy a new set for like $200, when these sound just fine still.)
Oh boy I have one of these nuggets The gray one specifically In my school, Iphones are banned, so instead I bring my 4G Ipod shuffle to listen to music at lunchtime And always need to remind people (because no one knows what is an Ipod and I'm the only kid who has one) that I'm not using an Iphone I have 300+ tracks inside mine, excluding repeated ones in different playlists, in which are 6
I reckon they'd do alright nowadays. Not like they would in the past but a simple nicely built mp3 player would do alright. Though nowadays they're more likely to just stick an mp3 player inside an airpod case or something.
Nokia 5710 XpressAudio is a dumbphone with a Bluetooth earpods case in the back designed to listen to music from the phone and answer calls easily. I could see that if it was £20 cheaper and properly promoted being popular
man these were my jam growing up, it was the only thing my parents would let me keep in my room after bedtime. I youtube to mp3’d youtube videos and put them on the iPod to listen to way too many times on repeat before bed, and would fall asleep like 30 minutes later. What I would do for a brand new one 😢
It's still very easy and cheap ($45) to get these refurbed with a new battery from China. I use it for running with some Sony MH755's, and no other player even comes close to the Shuffle` for that application.
I had the iPod touch 4 in middle school, a friend of mine at the time during Christmas got a new iPod and I was excited that it was a 4 also, he then proceeded to say it was a shuffle and I was disappointed 😂
I had one of these, barely remember it because I was like 7 years old or so I also had some type of sony over ears to go with it, don't remember how good they sounded
I found one of these INSIDE a car door once. Bought a used car but the window wouldn't roll down, took off the panel and found a silver one of these wedged in the mechanism. Still don't understand how it got there lol
omg i lived on a green one lmao, my mom HATED smartphones so it was the only way for me to listen to my "legally" acquired youtube music throughout highschool
I wish Apple would keep this same form factor but add bluetooth to let me use my earpods and put a gps in it to track my runs, and give me the option to set up a workout that starts with the music when I hold the play button down. Just in time for a free-run in the spring, totally disconnected from the world in a pseudoanalog way for an hour. Sigh. The Apple Watch is the next best thing, and can do all of that already, but still I can dream
I have one of these, I used it in high school a few times. Fell out of my pocket once when getting off the bus and when the bus driver gave it to me the back was absolutely thrashed. Still worked though!
I bought one of these for my son to have because they were only about $60-65 and I figured if he lost it it would be less of a hit vs one of the more sophisticated models.
I like this. I had one, but the problem was that it would stop working out of no where. And the only way to get it to work was to connect it to iTunes.
hey man i have one of these and when i charge it it shows life, but one I check the battery by double clicking the voice button it shows no life. I really dont want to buy a new bat bc its my moms. Help
My 4G Shuffle that I bought in 2011 is still working nicely, holding battery for a considerably good amount of time (while listening on low volumes), so maybe wait for it to charge completely and see...
Honestly the battery not working surprised me The 4th gen Shuffle normally lasts an insanely long amount of time. Had a first wave 4th gen that still had extremely long battery life in 2021, and they were producing them until 2017.
An old friend of mine had one in his garage, and I was like shocked to see one and I asked him what he was gonna do with it he said, would I like to have it I’m like oh my goodness I love it and I used it ever since I lost it for a little bit Because I led it to my my cousin, and yet I found it again it has an interesting story 😂
I remember this on 5th grade. It was 2012, my classmate wants me to put more songs in them so after school I took it home, plug it in my Windows 7 PC, and somehow I like the songs she has in them so I was expecting to drag em out from the shuffle. When I plugged it in nothing comes up in the explorer so oh well I'll just drag and drop my 2012 mp3 songs in there. The next day, we keep on pressing next and we don't hear the newer songs I have drag and dropped like 2012 ft. Nicky by Jay Sean. Turns out this nugget requires iTunes which I have never heard of because I never had a Mac!
I love these things, found 2 of em at a garage sale unopened for only $5 each, I opened one because I was gonna use it but unfortunately the battery was borked so I left tho other one in its original packaging.
I didn't have any idea they really used capsules like this, i thought that the bootlegs and trash nuggets were doing that on their own, i thought the title was a joke even. Ohhh man
Man my two brothers and I had a few of these and I cannot tell you how many times they got thrown through the wash. I bet if I found them they’d still work.
I just buy products that have a way to replace a battery. I changed the batteries in my galaxy buds plus and also the battery in the charging case. I think the average person could actually change those in those particular models.
