Back breaking work, less than minimum wage, no benefits, vac sick retirement etc and of course no health care. Can't imagine what keeps them away. Your grounds are beautiful none the less!!

Obviously, I agree totally. Also those same people have a right not to expose themselves to covid. Just because they're working outside doesn't mean they're at less risk. I don't judge them it's bad luck to judge people for their decisions or look down on them. Karma

@@l.s.7053 I'm from south texas so here it's even different. Most are undocumented workers making a cash wage. Of course they are still working and we're building a big beautiful wall to make sure they can't get away👍because believe me when I tell you, no one else is working outside in 100 degree heat and 100% humidity.

Wow. Angry much!?! My family immigrated here as Quakers on the the ship called the 'Welcome' with Williams Penn in 1690. We were not legal just looking for a better life. We are all part of the human race and migration has been a human experience from the beginning. Perhaps just a little opening of our heart to find out their human stories and see if we can help. Maybe where they started or maybe here. I dont know. But hate, anger and fear? No...we can do better!!🌻

@Jenna Right immigration is complicated and will not be solved here in the comment section of youtube. We are just different people viewing a humanitarian crisis through different lenses and that's ok. My life is helping people and hearing their stories. My home has been opened to a family displaced by a hurricane. We will get through this as well. ❤ best wishes to you and yours.

You’re a very caring, sensitive and joyful person so I was a bit surprised to hear your remarks regarding (to paraphrase) people who would prefer unemployment benefits rather than “work”?! I’m sure you had no intention of judging but it did strike me as very unlike the person I’ve come to respect for your inner beauty. I wish you much success in Florida.

Oh Tammy....why am I feeling so whistful watching this tour of your home? I feel I almost like I lived there watching you do so many videos from those various locations...and listening to your stories as I saw the driveway or pool...ah. ,..modeling on your staircase...and that won't come again. Your home here is one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen. Big but not so big you feel homeless...and all those windows. This is a artists' house.The sunroom and that tile...omg. I love your kitchen cabinets!!! I can't help but wonder how you feel? My guess would be half relieved it's over and half whistful? LOL...I assume a lot! I once lived in a beautiful mini-mansion with my husband Bill. It was beautiful and I learned a house is not a home without love...and I know you have that is spades with your Lou. Your home is beautiful and I can tell that it was well cared for. I'm sure that you won't miss the freezing cold winters. I sold my home last year after 34 years living there and raising two children, I learned that as hard as it was leaving my home, I got to take all those memories with me in my heart. I lost my husband 2 years ago and as difficult as it was finishing packing I knew that I was leaving an almost brand new house for the new owners. The best part is that I returned to the house I grew up in after my parents passed. I have followed you for many years and have learned so much from you and have such as admiration for you. The new owners will love living in your home and will make many memories in a home where there was much love. Besos lovely Tammy.

I am so disappointed you mentioned people won't work because they make more on unemployment. People want to work. People also want to be paid a living wage. How about your lawn maintenance company pay a living wage. If a business cannot pay a living wage they should'nt be in business. FDR said this. People should'nt have to work three jobs to pay rent. People are not inherently lazy. People want to work. They also want a life.

This is a huge intricate house, that was only to fit a particular person's taste. Did I hear you say you do not use a maid service? Such a pretty home and lovingly taken care of. I have gone through homes in the past saying “goodbye” with last looks, and it is the memories that makes it hurt a little. You are right though, it’s the people, not the home. I wish we had some of those magnificent trees that you have surrounding the house here in Texas. Your landscape is so beautiful. I bet the dogs loved it too. Thank you for showing the house and landscaping around it.

I totally agree with you, my home is where my husband and pups are. Your home reminds me of the house we sold when we moved to Montana many years ago. No matter all the places we have lived because of his military career, I still wish we could move back to New York. I do truly miss living there. Oh well, onward to new adventures! Hope you. I loved seeing your beautiful home. It’s exactly as I would have imagined. Classy and elegant just as you are. I got a little teary watching this as I’m embarking on much the same life journey myself. I’m just not convinced that a native hardcore NYer ( my Italian family came through Ellis island and lived in Brooklyn and Queens before my dad bought our home on LI) is ready to put roots down permanently in California. You are so right...your walls that surround you aren’t important...it’s those you love and who love you within those walls that’s important. Bisous Tammy and I can’t wait for all your new videos.

Well that was fun Tammy...I'm in the throws of a move right now. We purchased a new home and close Monday...and physically move on Friday. Had planned on not selling the condo until we were settled in and had the time to deal with it but as you know when the market is hot you just go with it. Had an offer that we couldn't refuse (4 actually) and we close on it on the 22nd! Packing is not fun as you know. Lots of purging! We had sold our Arkansas home furnished which made that move easy - this one not so much. Safe travels and we'll see you back in Florida. xo patti

Your home is lovely, and I'm sure you have worked very hard your whole life for everything you have, but I just can't help but comment on your multiple statements about how businesses can't find people to work "because they make more on unemployment than they do working". If you know anything about unemployment payments, you know that they are not enough to live on. That means the pay that employers are offering for these jobs is even LESS! I want to say that somebody who is giving a You Tube tour their 5000 square foot mansion on 5 Acres of property may not understand that, but I don't know you and that would just be shity on my part as you may very well be a kind-hearted person who understands the plight of the majority of people in this country who have to work for minimum wage or even less, pay taxes on that pittance, and live hand-to-mouth while others who have millions, or even billions of dollars, pay little or nothing in taxes, never have to worry about money, if they have a roof over their head, or where their next meal is coming from. A little self-awareness goes a long way...just saying.

Loved the house. I love detailing like that especially the windows. We have something similar, but in Norway these days people are into the modern style homes that more or less look like a Lego piece with lots of glass added on. I much more appreciate a good and well thought out architectural designed home. It's a beautiful property and the long driveway makes it so private and shielded. Thanks for the tour. Lots of architectural inspiration for someone like me.

I’m in the Oslo area and super close to the ocean, but we also have a farm at the west coast with stunning surroundings. (mountains, fjords, glaciers etc). I have traveled the world extensively, but nothing beats home with clean and fresh air😍.

Miriam, Or perhaps she has some insight that you might not have. My husband and I own 2 business in the construction industry and know many other business owners who are also experiencing a labor shortage. We live in a state that shortened the quarantine mandates and people are out in droves. They are out shopping, going to the movies, and the bars, but they are not out working. We know people who are in management in retail businesses and restaurant businesses. Both have said that people will respond to employment ads, agree to an interview, and then never show. One said that they even scheduled 20 interviews on a single day and only 2 people showed up. Your comment was judgmental, and I think perhaps maybe you can’t relate.

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. I agree completely that home is where my husband and dogs are, not the 4 walls of the house. Two years ago, we made the move from MD to AL with 2 dogs and got another dog since arriving. Now in a rental home while we await the building of our new home. Not a great time to build a house but life goes on.

What a beautiful home and thank you for sharing. I love the grounds as I am into gardening. I totally understand why you preferred to not show it while living there. You have to be so careful these days as you don't know who is trolling to come and break in. Sad it has come to that. I get the moving to Florida full time. I had to move from Palm Desert back to the NW when my mother was ill. She passed in January but I can't afford to move back now. Maybe someday.

It's an amazing house, but with Covid, and the problem with maintenance, I can well understand selling out and going to Florida with that lovely weather. How can you not be sad leaving a place you've lived in so long and obviously loved, but life is a series of adventures and now you're moving on. I'm sure you are going to love your new home. Beautiful home Tammy! The artist that did all your walls/ceilings did a spectacular job! And your artistry in Lou's office was pretty awesome too! I would have definitely thought it was done by the same professional you hired for all of your other areas. Funny how going through this whole beautiful house I couldn't wait to see where the old videos where shot?! And I'm shocked how good & steady Tammy did the camera work on a phone! Well done. Love the house 💕. I think at certain points in our lives we need change; for so many it's moving from the North to the South like Florida. However being from Florida and having lived on a lake, on 5 ac, 5,000 sq ft home, I would have absolutely traded houses just to be in NY. It's just about the change of environment. Florida shouldn't be the goal for everyone, by no means is it perfect, but everyone can make a change in their life. Thanks so much for sharing ☺️ ❤️. Ps... Tammy it was a beautiful and cozy home as soon as I seen your stairs I remembered Bindi and also you doing your cloths haul walking back and forth. Love your beautiful home & property Tammy. I think you & Lou were very wise to go ahead and make the move while you are young enough to enjoy it. My hubs always use to say, we might move to FL then as he’s gotten older with health issues that’s not an option. I so need to go through so much stuff & downsize. What a magnificent home! I love the cherry wood floors they’re beautiful. You’re absolutely right home is where the heart is! Y husband and I recently did the same thing in the fall purged and sold our New York house for our forever retirement home in Florida. It was the best move we ever made and have never looked back. Just miss our friends and family but we can always go back and visit. I don’t ever want to see a packing box again! It was tough but we got through it. Much happiness in your new adventure!
