A year after these bumpers premiered, these characters got their own show called “Bump in the Night”. The green monster became Mr. Bumpy (named so for his origin in commercial bumpers), the blue monster became Squishington, and the doll became Molly Coddles. The show lasted for two seasons and a 90-minute Christmas special.
Don't let them get to you. I am 38 years old and I still watch cartoons from the 90's and on back. Especially on Saturday mornings I still watch 80's cartoons. It's fun and you can't beat the nostalgia.
I'm 38 NOW and I'm in total agreement. :) Those were great times. I have "Bump in the night" on DVD and I've actually been watching He-Man and Inspector Gadget here lately. :)
Omg I really miss this so glad someone was able to save them and upload them to RU-vid I was crying watching these remembering my grandmother just being there and letting me enjoy all the Saturday morning cartoons Everything is just so sad now without her 😢 Thanks to whoever uploaded theses it really made my day💖👍🏼👍🏼
I've made it a Saturday morning tradition to watch this now in memory of my childhood and my grandmother whom would treat me to McDonald's after Saturday morning cartoons were done but it also makes me cry knowing she passed away on a Saturday she was an amazing woman she always made sure I had some kind of art projects to work on and really kept me busy in a good way because I depress easily and she knew it. I know alot of people are sick of my grandmother stories but she was an awesome person and I feel the world should know that. RIP mama 1942-2018 RIP Saturday morning adventures 1991-1996 RIP teen years 1997-2004 good stuff 😥
Ah, the "Mr. Bumpy" bumpers. I remember being a kid, seeing these, and wanting a show with them. Then came, "Bump in the Night" - an overlooked and forgotten show that was pretty good, especially for stop motion in the early 90's.
Bump bump bumpady everybody bump. Bump bump bumpady yeah he goes a hundred miles an hour, he's street dynamite. His name is Mr. Bumpy he can bump in the night.
That thing isn't a laptop, kids... it's a "word processor." It was something in-between a typewriter and a laptop, and you couldn't do anything but type and save word files on it.
@@PlusUltraAdrian True. I watch a lot of shows for children or intended for children still because being a 2000s/2010s kid was the time to watch awesome cartoons. Sure, while some like Regular Show had jokes that flew over our heads, they’re funny to look back on and watch for our enjoyment.
It's incredible to think that there was once a time where commercial breaks took the time for these bumpers. Nowadays you're lucky if the ads don't cut into the actual runtime of the program.
Don't worry about idiots. Cartoons are fun and creative, if someone looks down on you because you enjoy animation, well that's their problem. They are the ones that need to grow up. Enjoy your life and spread positivity. You know what they say. Haters gonna hate.
The 1994-95 season has characters from "What a Mess", but they used the same music with the "What a Mess" characters, this should be updated in the ABC Saturday morning bumpers collection.
This randomly popped up my head. Omg this brings back so many childhood memories growing up in my grandmother's house. I almost cried low key. I just wanna go back in time for a moment.
You Rock! Either I've completely forgotten about these bumpers, or I've never seen them. Fantastic. I like these freaky ones more than the ones everybody has been posting.
Speaking of this bumper, fans of the Bump of the Night Complete series will be pleased to know that you can get the show on dvd in a few weeks on Shout's website :)
man I love this vintage clips, its a shame that stations dont do this anymore they just cut to an extenze ad or some other ad about male enhancement. WTF? Im watching Ghost hunters and watching this and I see how terrible TV commercial breaks have become today.
@SongsJerome The little green monster in the bumps. The year after these bumps were made, 'Bump in the Night' became it's own half hour series, and the 'What-A-Mess' bumps premiered, followed by the 'What-A-Mess' series the year after that.
Oh man you wouldnt have a higher quality video of this would you? Thank you for posting this, i remember each of these clips....*sigh* those were good times
I wish when they switched to One Saturday Morning in 1997, Disney could've made bumpers like these featuring characters from the block (Like a set for Pepper Ann, a set for 101 Dalmatians: The Series, a set for Recess, etc.)
You know what something about these bumpers? The doll that appeared in some of those bumpers almost looks like Ragatha. I think her design is possibly a reference to her.
Saturday Morning Cartoons will always the best things I grew up with. That was really the only time you could see animated program back in the day. Yes in the early 80's into the late 90's other channels started making their own animated shows but they were still showing animated program on the main three networks. ABC, CBS and NBC. I think ABC was the last of the main three that lasted longer in having a Saturday Morning block for kids up till the early 2000's. I know that there were WB or whatever it became that were showing animated programs still but for the main 3 ABC was the last one to show anything for kids/teens. Miss those days getting up early on Saturday to watch me some cartoon shows you couldn't see anywhere else but ABC, CBS or NBC.
