Habiba, I LOOOOOOOVE this video!!! I’ve been waiting for it. I’m a huge tea drinker, and I have tea parties for one. The kids made me laugh so hard. I’m stealing your sandwiches ideas - never thought of adding grapes to chicken salad (green apples, yes), but I’m trying that. I think I’m going to have baby croissants for the chicken salad. Khalid, everybody loves smoked salmon!! The only thing missing was Kenton clowning at the table 😂 I have to favorite this vid 🤣🤣🤣. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY 🎁
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
Thank you so much for watching! Feel free to come back for more 😊 this was filmed 2 years ago . I have another tea party video with the kids done this year as well.
This was so fun to watch! I'm about to start coordinating potluck tea parties amongst neighbors. This was so fun to watch. I can't wait to do this when my son is older!
Haha...its so cute to teach your kids the lost etiquettes...love the reactions of your son, it reminded me of my son...yet ,It's a very informative video, love it❤
This video is awesome, from the etiquette lesson, to the background music, to your kids cracking up 😂. I'm going to have to try this. The closest I've done was having wine instead of tea and top ramen instead of sandwiches.
I enjoyed this video. My first time to your YT Channel. Your kids would appreciate that you thought this to them and becomes handy in the future, and yeah this was years ago but Happy Birthday anyway.
Our children’s names are Arabic like their mother 😊 No we are not part middle eastern. I am a Nigerian/ Jamaican American mix and Kenton their father is part White American and part Vietnamese. We are a multicultural family 😅
I know it's hard to not sit and laugh like the children are doing. However, that being said, they will one day thank their mom to high heavens for this lesson. It will be vital one day maybe on a job interview or when meeting someone at a club for brunch or simply on a date. Way to go mom! Bravo!!
Tips from a British person who regularly enjoys afternoon tea with friends. Your teaspoons are much too big. Lady Grey tea is my favourite; usually served with a lemon wedge but milk should be offered too. We would never usually have a fruit tea with afternoon tea (I might just try it). Knife blades should face inwards and are usually placed on the tea plate (tea plate, folded napkin then small knife on top). It's not English or British cream; it's proper name is Cornish Clotted Cream. Traditionally, strawberry jam is served with scones. A good quality jam (preserve) will still have whole strawberries in it. Spread your napkin over your lap and use it when needed to dab your lips (scones, jam and cream is messy to eat). When making scones you should never twist the cutter as it inhibits the scones from rising equally in the oven. Only the tops of the scones should be brushed with beaten egg, never the sides because it stops them from rising freely. The single most important thing about afternoon tea with family or friends is that it's a treat and should be enjoyed as an indulgence. Please don't get so hung up on doing things properly that your friends feel nervous about making a mistake. It's meant to be a relaxing social occasion. Here in the U.K., no one will be watching to ensure you do it properly, so just relax and enjoy. Loved your video, you got the overall feeling of luxury just right. X
Sorry you feel I was rude, it certainly never was my intention. Afternoon tea is a very British thing and I loved seeing a beautiful family from a different part of the world enjoying it as much as my friends and I do. The tips were meant to be helpful and I truly hope that this lovely family took them in the manner they were intended. In my society people with class do not ever name call, when someone sinks that low they demean themselves. My only concern is that I have not hurt the feelings of such a nice and classy family.
FairytaleLover, my comment was not intended for you but for the other two comments, one of which thought I was being rude, the other was just plain childish name calling. I just don't understand why some people have the need to be so insulting and nasty to complete strangers. Your comments were lovely and I appreciate them.
Tea parties especially British one's never really caught on here witch is a shame because it teaches you things good posture for one no elbows on the tables holding a chair for a lady, consideration for your neighbors I.e. no tapping on the side of the table.Little wonder it is used so often to teach etiquette. Please let an old fuddy duddy bring this to your attention.,You never know where this might take you oh and don't talk with food in your mouth.😆
Decent video , with the exception for the tea utensils place setting...Never place any knife at a table setting with the blade facing out. From old English days, blade away shows hostility to other at your right! Blade in, shows peace...
I absolutely loved this video. The young people are so charming and funny. I loved how Kalid said, "When was the last time you cooked with dill?" This made me laugh. This was beautiful!!
What a wonderful video, Habiba. I grew up in England and my mother offered an abbreviated version of this tea every day we children came home from school. Often a friend would come to tea" with us. It was my favourite meal of the day and a wonderful way to transition into the comforts of home after a long school day ending at four o'clock. My mother was at home and had help in the house, but I've always worked, and the tea I offered my children was even more abbreviated, but for their birthdays we did the whole thing. They've always loved teatime and make a point of trying what's offered anywhere they go, from the Ritz-Carlton to cosy little teashops. Even though in our family we disagree with some of your details (such as how you do your cutlery, your type of tea, etc.), they will love your video and adore you Limoges china. A tea done with this kind of loving attention is a gift to the participants. Your children are fortunate, as are my own in this regard. Thank you, Habiba.
Everybody KNOWS they are SAMMICHES not sang wichs. Also, Subs> Grinders> Hoagies. Calling a sub a "hoagie" is sacrilege. (I'm joking. I could go for a sang’dwidge or a sammich or a hoagie right about now)
Late upload! Finally back after a trip. Previously recorded and finally edited for you! Hopefully you watched our last video to see where many of the items used were purchased. My advice for your next Tea party: details matter! Plan days in advance. Have variety of foods, desserts and teas. Try to have real cutlery and not plastic. Fresh flowers always make a space cheerful. Feel free to leave your tips below as well. xoxo Habiba See my comment above with updated helpful links!
LOL, ok, seriously, I applaud you for showing your kids proper etiquette for such a fancy afternoon tea...we have nothing like this here in the US, I appreciated it, and also laughed that your kids were not trying to be anything but who they are, but appreciate that they participated. would actually love to see more etiquette. Even though we don't use it daily, it sure is nice to know how too, if the occasion should present itself. thank you.
Him:"Dude, come on over man, Terrence bought a sick game and you gotta see this!" Son:" Well not today, spending time with mom & sister, going to have Tea and Sandwiches" Him:" Alright! We're hungry too, coming over and bringing the gang with the game!" Him: "Mommmmm, need to make more sandwiches , Joey and the gang are coming over!" Mom: ".....Teenagers....."
You did a great job, Sis! I think you and your family are adorable! What a great video! I enjoyed it so much and learned a lot. Of course, everything looked delicious and made me hungry! I think it is WONDERFUL that you do things like this with your children and teach them good etiquette. Totally charming! Subscribed!
This is the best video I have seen in a long time. I loved it when Khalid dropped his sugar cube. That is so like my son! You are lovely and so are your children. I learned very much.
Habiba I loved your video as a Brit we don't often have afternoon tea but having watched your family I will be having one soon. I loved the humour my son would be the same as Kahlid x
I commend you for teaching your children etiquette and finer ways You never know when these skills might come in handy. And will make an impression on those that understand.
Hi from the UK 🇬🇧 Just to let you know, you can put jam or cream on first. But be warned your choice will mean you are picking a side - there has been a long held disagreement between two counties in the UK over the correct order. Jam first and you are supporting Cornwall, cream first and you will be supporting Devon. Pick your side and have fun! 😊🎉
This Tea Party was an excellent affair. Parents should teach such lessons at home and not leave it to chance. Good manners are needed in the real world; it is synonymous with self discipline . I hope your children will 🙏🏼 say “thanks Mom”! 😃👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I just loved this tea time video with you and your beautiful children I to have tea time partys but my children wouldn’t ever do it with me but my grandkids do . So helpful! :D I'm surprising my mom with at home Afternoon Tea on mothers day (which is the 26th of may in sweden), this was a great instructional video.
I loved your video so much! You and your family are adorable! It is so nice to see that your family is teaching us some etiquette. A long lost art in so many families. I love your children. They were such good sports! I must tell you many years ago I was having a tea party with my granddaughters, ages 4 and 6. This was not our first tea party, we had been working on our etiquette several times earlier. In the midst of my guiding my 6 year old to "sip" the tea, not slurp, my 4 year old tapped my arm and said "Nana? Nana? "Are you supposed to have your elbows on the table"? I cringe and laugh at the same time whenever I think of this most precious moment with my darling granddaughters. I learned a very valuable lesson that day!
Thank you for keeping Elegance alive and teaching it to your children. It’s good for your soul🥰🥰🥰 Asking God’s Blessing is a special touch and very important to make the experience complete❤️ I can’t wait to be able to serve elegant meals to guests in our home again when I’m cancer free👏💃🏻👏💃🏻👏💃🏻👏💃🏻 It is a JOY of life to serve those we love in a way most are not used to being served. Who doesn’t love beauty? My precious husband serves my meals with care and love that look like a photo. I’m looking forward to more videos❤️ They minister to me while in bed💞💞💞💞 GOD BLESS you and your family and the time you spend putting this together for us to enjoy😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you dear for watching and commenting! I am happy if in some small way it brought a smile to your face and I pray You will be cancer free soon! Yes I will continue to post more videos at least twice a week. God bless you. xoxo- Habiba

Thank you for this very thorough tea party posting. I’m very impressed that you made your own sugar cubes and clotted creams. A couple of years ago, it was very hard to find how to make clotted cream. The sugar the first for me. You are a lovely woman, and you have beautiful children.
I stumbled upon your video while looking for proper ways to brew loose leaf tea. What a beautiful find! You did an amazing job and your children are hilarious! Thank you for uploading this, you can tell you put a lot of love and effort into it.
I love that you are teaching your beautiful children about social situations like this! It is so important, and even though it seems funny and awkward to them now, one day they may be in this situation and be admired for knowing what to do, thanks to you! You are a great Mom! Miriam looks so beautiful in that dress! Happy Birthday!
I loved watching this video! I have a small bakery, tea house and host tea parties as well. I have never thought of making my own sugar cubes due and have not offered as the cost is just to much. I will now attempt homemade sugar cubes. I also like you take on the chicken salad. Everything looks scrumptious . I am not a smoked salmon fan but many people love it. I certainly enjoyed your children and the willingness to try something fun and different.
British? In Morocco as well tea is a necessity for the population. And every day, I remember growing up, mom used to invite her friends and put on the table tea with Moroccan sweets. Why people are so white washed?
Because in England afternoon tea is literally like one of the meals of the day. Tea is global but it’s most associated with the British. It’s like the food you would associate England with (tea and scones) along with fish and chips but that’s another story. It’s kind of unnecessary that u mentioned white washed. Just because your mum had tea with her friends doesn’t mean white people are stealing it from the Moroccans.
This is my dream! I live in ENC and we do not have places that serve afternoon tea...I may try this myself at home...Thanks for this :-)#feellikedaQueen
Hi again....I'm going to buy loose tea and the black tea.....have never tasted it...thankyou for your good ideas..greetings from South Africa. If you want to get a glimpse of our home..please google ENZO THE TIGER...BRAKPAN TIGER....
I LOVE afternoon tea! I have Tea sets, linens, I can set the table, and I have been teaching my kids proper tea etiquette... BUT I HAVE NO PATIENCE for making scones, sandwiches, and desserts. lol! I was scared to try the clotted cream the first time I made it hahahaha. I only always make one of the 3. lol
Oh my goodness this was so much fun, Mariam you are so talented and I just love how you turned this whole experience into a fun one for you and the kids. I am lusting after your China and tea set collection. It’s so sad that I can’t convince my sisters to let’s plan a DIY fancy tea party😭.
I enjoyed the tips on this video 🥰 The tea party was also a lovely bonding idea to have with your immediate household. Great job you guys and thanks for sharing and being real😊👌💕
🌻Great video, I thought it was nice to have your children join you for afternoon tea, it is true the children will take away a few tips, one will not know when they will have to call upon etiquette at a proper dinner event. I did take away a few tips, thank you it was very cute to see your children join you, we all know how difficult it can be to get your children to properly dress for a video tutorial on etiquette 😊💕🌻
Hi California Girl I hope you come back to watch our most recent tea party just uploaded September 2020 . I think you will enjoy it ! Kids & lots of pretty food 😅
A classic boy or should I say, young man’s response! What a nice surprise for the family! And you got a few chuckles from it al!👏🏾🎉👏🏾 I was going to ask about dad, but he’s doing the filming.☺️. Thanks for sharing!!
Enjoyed this video. Made me laugh! Where did u get that beautiful glass dinnerware set? The glass with the balls on edges ?What’s the name of it? Looks beautiful!
Thank you ! I shop everywhere. I love classic or timeless pieces or anything with a little personality. Tjmaxx, Marshalls, Homegoods, Macys are my favorite places but I also love a great thrift shop /second hand store for old china and tea sets
Question: I thought the way you hold the cup.. thumb/index outside the loop and middle finger to steady if its TEA and fingers inside if its coffee? Someone please help this me. Side note: Your children have me cracking up. I need to do this with my grandchildren.
So happy to find a recipe for sugar cubes. They are very difficult to find in the States, especially demerera/brown. Also happy for your recipe for clotted cream. I usually make a nice mock clotted cream. Will try this too. Thank you!!
First time watching. I am very interested in etiquette lessons for my 14year old daughter. I really enjoyed watching the bond you have with your children and the table looked fabulous !!!

Hello Habiba, I wish I lived near you. Don’t have too many friends who appreciate the joy and pleasure of enjoying a tea party. Might just get in touch with you should I visit the South. I live in New York everyone wants to have wine 🍷, 😂.
I really enjoyed this video! It was very well done not to mention funny ( 12:20). Your table presentation and your tea set are so lovely. Your personal presentation including your makeup was spot on! Great job!
