Hey Mark! Great video! Thanks for showing how easy it's to do! I've seen pics of cars with the circuit board completely removed for weight saving! Lol 😂 Now we know it can be done for real! 😁👍🏁🏎
Thanks Scott, I guess you could come up with a way to glue in the hangers for the shoes, that's why I left the board in since they are soldered to it. I did not see any real performance improvement so I would not rush out to do it on a good working car.
Sir did you remove the circuit board completely and get the cars running again ? If yes could I get you to do some of my chassis ? If know do you know who or where I can get my chassis with the circuit board removed and with the shoe hangers remounted and back up and running I'm striking out I can't find nobody to work on these chassis for me ?

That’s incredible I did the very same thing just today on my car and it works just fine without the circuitboard thank you for your video because I was ready to put it in the H.O. scrapyard

Actually I run with several clubs around my area and many of them race Mega G and other inline chassis. So to be accurate, I should have said "I prefer" flat motors. I guess because I have been working on them for so long. This is my 60th year as a "slot car" guy and have loved every minute. Thanks again for the info.@@marksslotcargarage
Interesting! Your Govt protecting you from yourself. I thought the board was a capacitor to store energy when a car came off the track, it wouldnt affect the remaining mega g cars. Either way, RF or this, un necessarily complicated. This is encouraging Mark👍👍😎🇺🇸
That little motor is very commonly used. In a variety of applications. I don't know the specs for it but a few people have bought batches of them and some worked okay, some didn't. Likely someone will eventually be selling replacements. Guessing it hasn't happened already because they are just cheap crappy little motors. Maybe somebody will come up with a batch that are an actual upgrade and then it might be worthwhile.
@@robertclark3113Could I get you to install the JAG Motors in my chassis please Sir ? Other things I'd like done is installing a 20 or 21 tooth crown gear ? You can change the direction the car moves by popping out the rear axle and putting it back in with the crown gear on the other side. Just for anyone who doesn't know.
Yes and no, on the Mega G plus there is actually a cut out in the chassis for the back of the crown gear, it does not run smooth in the other direction. On other chassis types yes you can just flip the rear axle. I actually tried on this car and was like why is this running so rough and discovered the notch, the Mega G Plus can really only run with the gear on the usual side.
Yes but if you look closely at where the gear goes the side it should be in is actually a little wider and the gear runs smoother. There is actually a little cutout on the chassis of the Mega G Plus for the gear.
Just saw that Jag hobbies does indeed have the Mega G plus N20 motor alone for just $2.50 or the motor, circuit board and pinion assembly for $7.50. Jag also has a new car out called the RS-6. 😊
@@marksslotcargaragewell, if the "average" person took a slotcar IQ test they would fail. Mark would score very high on that test. The key to solving any problem unless by accident is through understanding the problem. The better you understand the problem, the more likely it is that you will successfully solve it. "Genius" indicates the ability to learn. Has nothing to do with what you know. "Genius" means you have the ability to learn what you don't know. Seems you are pretty good at that so you are underestimating yourself Mark. Probably another indication of intelligence. Another excellent video!
great video ... I see 10 months ago ... Just like to say because I have the victory 400 with the wireless set up for now ... there are times when the mega's with chip will not run .. then all of a sudden they will odd but not a problem enough to mention it to pro tinker lets say ... But Ill bet if I remove the Chip I would not have that problem ... Tyco and Auto world (your choice of slot car lol ) they dont give me that problem ... its gotta be the chip Thanks Mark
Do you mean the Mega G Plus? They don't really have a chip, the circuit board cuts down RF noise from what I read to comply with the FCC, that being said maybe it is interfering with the wireless controllers?
@@marksslotcargarage yes I don't have all the correct names of chassis down ...yes the new stuff ..Mega G plus . its gotta be that ( interference )thanks Mark
I am not aware of anyone doing it. I left the board in but disconnected the motor from the board. Why do you want to remove the board? There is no real performance improvement removing it from my testing.
Did not seem to make much of a difference in performance but it was a fun experiment on a car that did not run. Next video I do of any cars running I will get a few 440x2s going.
I ran a mega g chassis.. never ran one of these I wasn’t a fan of the fan motors …so I never got in to them… ye it’s rf noise thing … if you use bunny ears on your TV it will cause issues when running them lmao 🤣😂
