04/10/20 Antimatter Gargage a channel about car mods, repairs, builds and fun.
In this episode, I finish up all the little loose ends of my 2zz swap to make the car driveable again.

The 1zz iac is only compatible with the matrix/vibe version of the 2zz. The celica 2zz has a different unit. You got lucky like me!

Ahh. Finally an ADVANTAGE to having the Corolla based version. You, know it occurred to me later that the gasket on the 1zz engine was as new as the IAC and I should have moved that over too if I was going to use a used one. Facepalm. Thanks for the intel. Wonder why they are different. Thanks for all of the comments. Did you do anything about the two missing signals to the Electrohydraulic power steering unit? I looked up those signals hoping to make my own and I got close to understanding them, but not confident enough to know if they were 12V, gnd or something else.

Not sure what you mean about the EHPS however to be fair I haven't turned the key on my swap yet. I believe you used the swap harness. I wired my own ECU based off the wiring guide found on spyderchat. The PS idle up signal is moved from pin B25 to pin D28 on the Celica ecu. There is also a note that on the swap the power steering pump will run whenever the key is in the ignition not just when the engine is on like the stock spyder. A side effect of the swap, I don't know if that can be changed.

@@hankschrader3085 That's kind of what I meant. I think if you feed it 12V or gnd or something at the right time, it won't run like that, but I don't want to give it the wrong signal and mess something up. There are many times in my life when I'm waiting for someone or something so I turn off the engine, but leave the key in the on position so I can listen to music. Not sure if that's a good thing with the pump running.

I also noticed you're using both 02 sensors on the MWR exhaust manifold. You are supposed to cap off those bungs and hook the sensor up after the collector before the cat. Doing the other way can cause drivability issues.

What kind of drivability issues? I just assumed the wiring to the computer didn't exist, so it just wouldn't use the second O2 sensor.

I am not versed enough in tuning to understand why, something to do with the passenger side sensor only reading two runners instead of all 4. The 2zz ecu expects a signal after the collector and this is what was recommended to me by a few 2zz swap experts on spyderchat and the forums. MWR says they only include those bungs for emissions compliance in certain states like California.

@@hankschrader3085 Ah, that makes sense. I'm preparing to make a custom budget exhaust right now. Mine will be before and after the cat. Should correct the problem. Thanks for the 411.

So what happened with the VSV did it work? The VSV that you are using from the 2zz is for the secondary air injection (normally mounted on the intake manifold). That is why none of the hoses match up.

To be honest, I don't know if it "worked" meaning, I don't know if the system as a whole is doing what it's supposed to. What I can say is it isn't making the noise anymore and the engine seems to run fine. So. . . I guess I kind of don't care.
