They had a lot of great production and repped for Harlem. After Kool Moe Dee & Doug E. Fresh's career cooled down and Big L passed on. There wasn't any hardcore rappers really repping Harlem. Tupac was from Harlem, but repped Cali when he was alive. Mase is from Harlem but was a pop rapper. Mase's Harlem World group was pop. Diddy was born in Harlem, but raised in Mount Vernon, and couldn't rap to save his life. So here comes Camron. He had a two hits on his debut album, 357 and Horse & Carriage (I hate that song with a passion). Cam's career dies down a little bit. Dame Dash (A Harlemite himself) signed Camron to Roc-A-Fella Records, which gives Cam a new burst of energy in his career. Cam gets great beat selection and promotion. He also forms Dipset and puts his boys on such as Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Un Kasa, Hell Rell (who's from the Bronx), and others who got their own levels of success. With their Dipset albums, mixtapes, and solo joints, they had a lot of airplay on during the early 00's. Dipset & G-Unit were like the last time when New York Hip Hop was running shit. Dipset had Harlem and G-Unit had Queens. Queens always had steady representation since Run DMC and LL Cool J. But Harlem didn't have anything for awhile. Yea, lyrically Dipset weren't anything special, but they had a sound that a lot of people were digging.
