Agolloch is the best band of its genre. Definetley my favorite band of all time. Not too heavy but not too light. Just an excellent combination of both. Sooooo fucking good. Fuck yeah Agalloch.
You wrote this comment even before The Marrow of the Spirit, The Grey, Birch White and Birch Black and The Serpent and the Sphere came out. They were so amazing
..Blood... ...Blood... ...On my hands... On my hands I walked in the shadows 'Neath an azure midnight sky I walked in the shadows To abscond a life not my own I walked in the night This life I hate Destroy this life, the life I hate Return me to the womb Thy crystalline will Has finally shattered As spring rain paints itself On the canvas of youth The canvas of youth It's snowing still in my heart Will I ride the summer winds Or dance upon [the] crimson horizon Will I find Paradise in Hell? If I go If I go deep into the woods If I go If I go to this cabin As scarlet flowers lust for the dew of morning And infants nurse on the nectar of motherhood Of motherhood As prophets of ruin wield their swords of wisdom And battle forth towards a brighter dawn Take me away From here ...Falling... ...Soaring... ...Falling... ...Soaring... If I go If I go deep into the woods If I go If I go to this cabin If I go If I go deep into the woods If I go If I go will you follow? ...Falling... ...Soaring... Take me away From here On my hands On my hands To celebrate my passing My soul shall bleed
Yup-That is the main reason that I like them so much better then Opeth (and I love Opeth, alot!!!). WHen you listen to a song like Fire Above Ice Below, you think you're listening to a heavy song, but it really isn't, yet it still isn't light...This band is just so good....thanks for posting.
@Sythaz melodic black metal is a better word for it. but i guess it's odd to hear that in black metal. i guess i'm picky bout what i listen to. 3/4 of the bands listed kinda have a solid sound to em. Agalloch is like that middle ground where i dunno how to feel about it. maybe they'll grow on me.
Scars of the shattered sky? What Agalloch Album is that from, ive never heard of it? Also I think this early demo is better than the new one they released, just my opinion though.
Hahaha, its a part of this songs lyrics. I like John Haughms vocals, excuse me for actually posting something related to the video I'm watching. Do you think before you speak?
this album is so-so (i'm an avid listener of wolves in the throne room hate forest drudkh paysage d'hiver etc.) so kinda hard to get used to how death metal it sounds
@crimsonviolet I don't think that it has any death metal sound to it, I think it's got too much of a melodic black metal sound plus some doomy parts to it. I'm also an avid listener of 3/4 of the bands you listen to, I don't like wolves they're too bland.
genre is a shit term neither Agalloch or Opeth fit properly into their own. For music there is only good and bad. Most people who like either band will like the other because they are both incredibly talented.
TheMfgl Agree but with opeth especially earlier on you can hear the death metal influence while with agalloch you can hear more of a raw black metal approach but alot slower

"It is not the ferocity of the beast of prey that requires a moral disguise but the herd animal with its profound mediocrity, timidity and boredom with itself."
melancholy =/= being suicidal and depressed. this song is obviously about the latter. this is about as metal as it gets, and agalloch is a very neo folk band. not fake metal or neo folk.
