“I might be overthinking it” understatement of the century

You probably forgot but Agatha mentioned that if she tried to steal Aubrey's magic it would kill her so that's why she didn't even though she was getting attacked by it!

I'd say Plaza and Hahn's acting were supposed to be different by design, and what Jaby saw as a weakness was on purpose. Agatha was fully playing "Agnes", and the tone was tongue in cheek like all the "shows" from Wandavision were - Wanda purposefuly imprisoned her in the same manner she had imprisoned Wanda, in a parody of a TV show. But while Plaza was, in Agnes's head, a character, she was really just playing herself playing along Agatha's delusion, therefore the more serious tone with the innuendos in between to see if she could provoke Agatha out of it, but not too obvious as she appeared to be having fun as well seeing her so helpless.

Mrs. Heart was exposed to Wanda's spell for a long period of time like the rest of the towns folk, so she probably has a bit of the residual magic insider her now and can qualify as a Witch.

Agatha's performance was meant to be like that be cause she was in a dream world made by wanda still.

One thing that reminded me of The Wizard of Oz was when they were going down The Road; they were literally following a blue road, sort of a play on " Follow the Yellow Brick Road.”

Loved the parody of Kate Winslet's Mare of Easttown to Agatha of Westview, they even did the Pennsylvania/Delaware County's accent..."creek" is pronounced as "crick". Liked the ending scene of Episode 2, has the same spooky, eerie feeling of Wandavision, Moon Knight, and Werewolf by Night!! Keep it up MARVEL!!

@42:16 There is something about the way Agatha face softens when asked if Billy is another child sacrifice that makes me think Agatha either sacrificed or had her son sacrificed. It’s literally the only frame in both episodes where she shows genuine concern on her face.

I think Mrs Hart has witch powers because she was the first person to break through Wanda's magic and asked her to save her husband when he was choking.

Aubrey Plaza's character was definitely hitting on Agatha

Wow I totally disagree with you. Katherine was playing it much straighter during the cop sequence and Aubrey was breaking character (on purpose) right and left. Her whole vibe didn't fit the tone of the "show" Also I didn't think the chase was supposed to comical.

Another Wizard of Oz reference is in the beginning of the "Crime Drama:" Agnes: Did she fall? Cop Herb: No. She was crushed....something big. Something heavy. (Inferring the house) Agnes: She is dead though, isn't she? Herb: She's really most sincerely dead. (Munchkin coroner said this at the end of his "certification" in Oz). Since Wanda is gone, who is the Witch of the East(ern Europe), that would make Agatha the Wicked Witch of the West(view) since she remains between the two of them. Dottie may be like Glinda, if they choose to follow that route but it seems Mrs. Davis may be in that role. Divination Witch may be the Scarecrow looking for her clairvoyant brain (also wearing that patchwork shawl), Potions the Tin Man looking for her heart since her heartless sham scarred her customers, and the Protection witch the Lion. Courage analogy may come later, I haven't figured that out quite yet.

Great reactions! Here are some, PROBABLY, Easter eggs that you might have missed: 1. The Guy at the library saying "every last copy" after Agatha asked him, "was everything destroyed?" - this is probably reference to Wanda destroying every copy of the Darkhold in the Multiverse. 2. The books and shelf burnt - I'm not one hundred percent sure if it references anything, but it could be one of the two: the scene where Wanda blasted Monica out of their house, crashing and going through a small bookshelf and three walls before being ejected out of the Hex (EP 3); or, White Vision blasting a beam of energy at Hex Vision after he punched him into a library (EP 9). These are just guesses though. 3. "Eastern Europe" said by Phil Jones to Agatha about the soil samples under Jane Doe's finger- and toenails - Transia is located in Eastern Europe, it is where Mt. Wundagore is and Chthon's castle stands in. And also, the last known location of Wanda (DSMoM). 4. Senior Scratchy is the name of Agatha's pet rabbit - I don't know if it has been theorized by others, but I think the rabbit is his son, Nicholas Scratch. But this is just a shot in the dark. 5. "You go barefoot?" - If you noticed in the very first part of the credits, the background is an opened book written on one page what Agatha and others did in this scene. 6. And if you watch further the credits rolling, you'll see a picture of a rabbit and a black cat holding string instruments - it's probably referenced to Agatha's familiars: Senior Scratchy (MCU) and Ebony (Comics).

I normally love your reactions but this one was too much of Achara trying to anticipate what seemed like every bit of dialogue or guess every plot point. It’s so much better when you don’t overdo it.

People seem to forget how slooooow the first two eps of WandaVision were, and how different the acting was compared to the rest of the season. So over negative nellies when the show is barely out the gate. I’m stoked for this!

Honest opinion: I don’t care about the overall story, but the musical theatre geek within me wants to hear them sing more!

The kid is Wanda's son Wicken. He has a similar power set to Wanda. He is not as powerful as Wanda but he is a Witch.

26:20 Well Agatha was the only one under a spell... everyone else was just living normally pretending around her and the spell also affected how she viewed the world/people around her. Agatha was playing the character of Agnes, a sitcom character now going dark due to Wanda's death distorting the spell. So yeah the cheekyness was on purpose.

I think if we’d done episode 1 longer it would’ve just felt like wandavision again. We already did the whole clues to the “real” world storyline there. It would’ve been played out to go over all of that again with agatha

Am I the only one who thinks that Kathryn Hahn has never looked or been this equally badass and sexy in any role she’s ever played? Not just because she looks hot in that awesome outfit of hers in the end, but because she’s got that perfect “take shit from nobody” attitude. And Aubrey Plaza in that black modern witch outfit with that smokey eye shadow!🥵🥵🤯🤯

My theory about Mrs. Davis is that she has potential to be a Green Witch: Agatha said even a little talent can bring forth a spark, so even though Sharon has no training, her inherent talent allowed her to help summon the door to the Road!

I also think people were confused by her delivery when she was under the Crime Show spell…I found it hilarious! “Asleep in bedddd…TOTALLL LOOOSERRRR…ORR TOTALLY LYINNNG! (throws stuff off desk)!” BAHAHAAHA it was such cliche cop show stuff I was cracking up!

I honestly didn’t think this show was gonna be any good because Agatha Harkness doesn’t have that much source material in the comics, but I’m so freaking happy that I was proven wrong! Kathryn Hahn truly has made this character her own, and she’s far more entertaining than she has ever been in the comics.

I 100% completely agree with Jaby for the first episode. The weird serious/silly thing they were doing was not working. They are leaning too much into the Hocus Pocus style instead of The Witches (1992). I was hoping this show would be darker and a bit grittier side of magic. Feeling a bit too campy for me so far.

I had such a blast with this so far!! Yes it was a little slow at the start but it made me sooo intrigued and excited for the next episode. It gave me all the witchy spooky vibes I needed. KATHRYN HAHN IS ABSOLUTELY KILLING IT!!! Also I loved getting to see Agatha finding out she was in a True Crime spell and loving the comedic material that is the combination of Agatha and the excited puppy that is “Teen” and the other hhhwitches.

One thing that helped me, before watching Agatha, was rewatching Multiverse of Madness and Wandavision. When you consider Wanda’s ultimate fate and initial world building, things like a burnt up library shelf and Agatha tripping in her own world and trying to make it out, make sense. The reaction of her neighbors is the best, in that they were trying to keep her calm and not insight a new Wandavision type, event. A weak cop intro is a parallel to her lack of reality. It could have been funnier, but this is about Agatha’s quest, not leftover Wandavision.

I’m having so much fun but the witchy stuff freaks me out. Episode 2 was scary but I’m invested to see where it goes. What if at the end is Wanda.

25:43 I think this is completely intentional. We are seeing Agatha unraveling. And that's demonstrated within each scene of the "show". Essentially Rio is playing the same role that Agatha played in WandaVison. And we saw the same deterioration of the spell in this episode, that WandaVison 3 episodes to convey. Which also makes sense as Wanda was actively fighting to stay within the spell. While Agatha is not.

I really liked these two characters in these episodes, I hope the next episodes are as good as this one.💜🖤🔥

Witch things are often very surrealist and weird imo from DnD and stuff like that. So I'd just go with the flow and see what happens, that is usually the best way to go about things. I just don't think they cared too much about Mrs. Davis (Hart) because they don't need to. The spell is probably like a RPG-ish thing where you have a lower odds of it happening with less magic but just "better" overall with more magic. And I bet Mrs. Davis IS a witch and there was a reason Agatha just brought her along "randomly". Kathryn Hahn is easily the best part in this show, she is such a fun and good actor. I am loving these two eps and it's easily as intriguing as Loki season 2 felt. Some of the best MCU-stuff overall imo. Let's hope this continues this way!

Katherine Hahn isn’t that young, but she’s not that old but maybe like a normal human being jumping off your gutter is still going to be painful for someone who’s been sitting in her house pretending to drive a car in her house or whatever so also it’s a cop drama, not a cop drama, and maybe some of the stunts are a little hokey because she still in a cop drama on a TV show

I'm very excited about the series, which has inspired many other ghost-themed films and projects and is very much an allegory for the paranormal. I really like the mystery of Agatha and the connection to the witches' coven.🔥🔥

They DID overplay the "our copy show might be faaaaake!" thing, but I was fine with the 2-episode pacing just fine. Ep 1 was a fun thing about unlocking her that I feel was paced about right. Wandavision's first 2 eps drove me away for a month. I'm really glad I ended up finishing it, but it was a .... risky first 2 eps. I think they could have put the first 2 eps into one, and acheived about as much.

The symbolism in the first 2 episodes is wild and most of you think it’s just for entertainment.

Bro, you're nitpicking ep 1 hard. Kathryn Hahn was doing a bang up job cosplaying Kate Winslet in Mare of Easttown, she'd just slip her already established over the top Agatha base character into the edges of the performance to show Agatha' is fragmented when we find her. They were not trying to fool the audience; everyone including the audience knows what's up except Agatha, and you're supposed to see the cracks & glitches in the detective persona quickly.

Have to necropost sorry. I avoided reactors because you all got in earlier than me over in PDT Land. Odd because that should have been 6 PM here but was 8 PM. Unfortunately I am not going to say much. I gave a rather harsh synopsis on an appropriate platform but it was heavily directed at fandoms and the online fanzines. Sadly online there is a very weird criteria placed on everything that I simply do not believe actually applies to these things. Additionally I quickly noticed everything being said there, and YT videos I can see cropping up, is entirely wrong and more just imaginary fanfiction type stuff that has nothing to do with this show whatsoever. Well I did noticed Aubrey Plaza trolled them and successfully so lol. They are colorblind and fixated on so it wasn't hard on the other. You know for example they failed to surmise that Sasheer Zamata is SPOILER REDACTED because? Yeah. Worse perhaps those sources did the same Ali Ahn despite her actually being a dead ringer for the comic character in fact the ONLY dead ringer for that character. Which brings me to "Billy" and exactly why I think they thought of that character. Which is sad when you think about it. That said this appears to be based directly on old comic story that involved Agatha having a problem with a group and known as the Salem Seven and their leader are a character named SPOILER REDACTED whose name appears on screen (N.S.) in the first episode and right before this mysterious "Teen" appears out of the blue. A name illustrated in the detective drama illusion as her cop facade's say "lost loved one". And he is "such a big fan and knows all about her because erm, he must of read something". Yet can turn on a dime and seem in control of the situation. Even directing it maybe? Nice touch though how they have Agatha "pretend he is her son". I think that character is who Joe Locke is by the way based on that story. Before my time and I remember the old guys at the LCS talking it up but I Wiki'd it at any rate and this all matches up. It is not cape stuff. This isn't actors in tight fitting costumes with sculpted on abs doing CGI generated backflips throwing things at macho enemies among fiery explosions. Naturally the cape stuff diehards hate this show. It is more following up WandaVision and is your typical supernatural drama. Like Buffy for example. They make a point of it in the end credits. So if your into that this is a show you would like. If you aren't is isn't. Or if your hung up on "woke" it isn't either. But none of the above really determines whether it's a good show or not. I think it is. It's actor driven and the acting is fantastic. The set and FX design are great. The editing is seriously good stuff, like check out when Agatha (actress to stunt double to actress) drops off the roof for example. The story and pacing are well done and compelling. The same type of flow and quirk found in WandaVision. Else most people are expected to turn out for Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza and they are delivering. So in a nutshell this is a target demographic show. You are either in that demographic and will enjoy it or your not and it's a pass then. Obvs your half-time observation. Two episode premier because the first establishes Agatha and where we are at since the last time(s) and second to introduce the new cast of characters. That's good form imo instead leaving the viewer hanging on the cast and setting for a week. Else I will criticize that they laid it on thick for a mystery as I emphasized on purpose here. Too easy to suss out though acting driven drama be damned. On the other they did do proper mystery in showing the audience the answer in advance vs lazy mystery where the viewer is never shown then suddenly a twist pops in, credit where it is due. "I don't take drugs." I'm probably reaching but was that supposed to be a That 70's Show ref? I think Debra Jo Rupp is the big mystery and misdirect next to Locke and Plaza by the way. A "I'm totally innocent and don't know what's even going on character"? Well I'm enjoying that as much as I loved that actress. Hazard a guess I think she is the Green Witch in fact and there is something up with her. I also think Plaza is either going to be revealed to be some popular Marvel character (various supernatural related comics) if she isn't just here to sell the show by being in it as Aubrey. You know you can read the Marvel Wiki and see it if you want or save it as a surprise. I just recalled after that name popped on the screen what the old LCS guys used to tell me. Well they knew I was interested in witch and sorcery type things so? It's all there though.

I also thought there was cringe dialogue and acting. “Coochie coochie coo” lol really😂

There is a marvel character named tarot and the potions witch dropped the name jennifier kale i know way more about her character and expecing something big an green, but tarot pasicly uses tarot cards and is a reality warper

I actually really like the start of this series. Im guessing the boy is going to Wiccan (one of Wanda's twin sons)? Does that mean we'll meet Speed (the other twin) as well eventually? Although we did meet wiccan and speed as kids in wandavision. If not wiccan, i wonder who else it could be...cant think of another male witch/sorcerer character from the comics they could pull inspiration from.
