Hey MT... here is a terrible thought. If Mrs. Hart had just sunk through the bog when her purse fell in, she would have found the way out and escaped with her life.
Agatha didn't recognize the Witches Road, because it's Billy's Hex. His version of the road. He just doesn't know that he is creating it as he walks it. IMO. 🤷
@@heavyspoilers I saw your buddy say that this is actually Billy’s HEX, and he is unknowingly making things happen, much like Wanda did in Wandavision. The characters and everyone’s costumes were actually on Billy’s walls. The yellow stuff in the walls are actually the outlines of his hex. The blue when they went down the road is the same color as Billy’s magic. The reason Agatha doesn’t recognize anything is because everything is happening in Billy’s imagination, and that’s why Agatha’s snide remarks to him are saying she knows what he’s doing and isn’t slick as he thinks he is.
Something I noticed is that Jennifer survived the longest after her trail unlike Alice and Lillia who died barely a couple minutes to the next episode after their trials
Something I noticed is that Jennifer survived the longest after her trail unlike Alice and Lillia who died barely a couple minutes to the next episode after their trials
@@LethalTalentzi would say both season of loki were amazing And this thing with Lillia kinda reminds me of Loki time slipping to save to multiverse, but in the case of Lillia, is to save her coven
Seeing Lila's mind switch from time-to-time remined me of the Ancient One saying that she couldn't see past her own death and that "Death is what gives life meaning". It also reminded me of Kang's quote, "I don't live in a straight line, and with time it's hard not to skip to the end."
Piggy backing on the "can't see past my death" thing, Lilia tells Agatha before she dies that "when she calls you a coward, hit the deck". So I'm kinda hopeful she'll eventually come back or else how would she know this if she's dead by the tine this happens.
Interesting! ... Then how could lilia tell Agatha something beyond her death!!? If THE GREATEST-EVER SORCERER SUPREME herself and with the time infinity stone couldn't see beyond her death tho, how lilia could!!??
Death is resting her hand on Red/Reality but she Pointing at Green/Time with her index finger. Hella is Green, Rio is also Green, Time always leads to Death.
29:15 I think she spends a lot more time in her younger body, because she mentions to Jen that a lot of her younger years was shifting in and out, and I think it’s so beautiful that she gets the chance to live out all her lost time with her original coven. That look her teacher gives her when she realizes that she’s back to live out the time she missed is so beautiful it literally brought a tear to my eye :’)
This is it. 100%… I couldn’t verbalize what I meant other than… shes completing her cycle. And I don’t think she was willfully “blocking” her powers; I think time just required her to live out that section of her life without so that she could be lead to that very moment.
Once again, MT educates! I am not a comics reader, but absolutely LOVE MT's breakdown with their analysis of the comics along with the MCU content. The comics are at such absurd operatic levels of drama & action, there is no way they can be adapted outright.
This episode felt like a beautifully written movie. Shots are even cinematic. Im sorry I didn’t know Patti Lupone until this ep I was like damn who’s this actress - she’s on point. Aubrey Plaza as Death is cherry on top. I get it now Agatha, me too, me too.
Alice wanted to know what happened to her mother, and dies short after she did. I bet Lilia didnt truly want power, she is stuck in her trauma from the past of being unable to save her coven, so the road gives her the opportunity to save this coven instead - and shortly after she dies. That implies that its deradly to get what one wants on the road, so what do the remaining coven truly want for the last two episodes?
Billy Kaplans bedroom is full of posters and figures that are very similar to each of the trials as if he's doing exactly what Wanda did except he's created his own road. He's also always the one who finds the task of each trial. Then Agatha says he's so much like his mother like he's also unknowingly doing what she did
While this witches’ road is clearly themed around Billy, there’s stuff on it that Billy could not have made-up from memory: Evanora Harkness’s relationship with her daughter hundreds of years ago in Salem, the fact that Rio is Death, the fact that Lorna Wu died in a hotel fire when all of the news coverage suggested that she died in a different way… The fact that Rio/Death was in a relationship with Agatha. Maybe the reason why Agatha Harkness doesn’t recognise the road is because it looked a lot different last time, especially since the fact she was allegedly the soul survivor, suggests that maybe she was the person it was predominantly themed after last time. I think that maybe each coven has a key/nexus witch that is responsible for uniting them, and the road focuses a lot of its theming on them (as the leader of the coven) to prove whether they are worthy to lead. The revelation that Billy really did not know he could have saved Alice, or just how strong he was as a witch, does not suggest that he was able to truly unlock his powers while that sigil was in-place. Without the ability to truly access his powers, it is very unlikely that he could have used them to fool such powerful witches as he has been walking the road with. If this show did end with the road just being another hex then that would damage this show beyond repair and tank Vision Quest before it got started.
This was an awesome episode. The way they intertwined all of Lilia's outburst was brilliant. I hope we get to see Deadpool interact with Rio and maybe mention Thanos. I look forward to the reaction of people who haven't had Funko Pop spoilers or seen certain RU-vidrs point it out.
.....pretty sure it has absolutely nothing to do with the infinity stones.... the colors are for the element associated with the type of craft, blue was for water the element for potions Red/orange was for fire the element for protection, purple was for spirit magic and yellow was for air the element for divination while the trials are coincidentally in the order we see the first few stones I believe that 100% has nothing to do with this
Am not convinced this is the case. Mainly because witches in the MCU have nothing to do with the Infinity Stones directly. Technically, ALL things in the MCU are connected to the infinity stones but you could use the same logic to say ANYTHING is connected. This random apple? CONNECTED The dog running in the background? CONNECTED The fart you can hear off-screen? CONNECTED!!!!! This dude just loves theorizing more than he loves breaking down what we have actually been shown and told. Not a fan.
@IceCold_Carter you're welcome to believe what you like that's fine all opinions are welcome, I personally believe it has nothing to do with the stones as the director said it's the elements, and as it is my opinion to believe it cannot be wrong, the same as yours,
Agatha all along had me crying 😭😂😂😂 but I said the second episode when Agatha went down the witches road, she seemed unfamiliar with it. I was like hmm. Has she even been. And so much of the road is pulling from Billy’s actual life so did he subconsciously affect it? Lord!
i now convinced that Agatha was on the road and she knows that this is Billy's spell and not the witches round, I don't think billy is even aware to that fact just like Wanda didn't know at first in wanda vision
@nataliebrod6802 didn't Agatha say to him "if you weren't a Maximoff, this wouldn't be nearly as dramatic"? Also she did tell him the road "suits him" she probably knows it's his doing
@@enadegheeghaghe6369 i don’t think this is the “real” witches road. Every challenge has something to do with Billy. Pulling from parts of his room. It’s like his own “hex” that Wanda did. The road ain’t open until he started freaking out and running away from the Salem Seven.
@@DarriannMariee that would be disappointing. They already did the Hex in Wandavision. Repeating the same story with different characters would show a serious lack of creativity in my opinion. Even if Billy opened the door to the road or influenced it in some way, I want the road to be real. Otherwise what's the point? Like I said we already saw the Hex in Wandavision
@shekutoronka9791 without getting too far into it, it was a combination of things leading up to him, Whitney and Tommy being let go from NR. There was another woman but she doesn't collab with the Palaxy (the three have a podcast called Guardians of the Palaxy) Filip walked the week before. So it's not just MT, it was about 5 people.
They also got rid of Jessica Clemons, my comic nerd hero. All of us went with her to another channel, then new rockstars got her to come back. I watch HER videos there, but I come to Heavy Spoilers to see my beloved MT!! (And Paul, because I already loved his channel.)
@@TheoRae8289wasn’t it due to either covid or something financially ? Not just randomly firing them….a lot of companies like ESPN did the same thing due to the economy
We need to see more Patti Lupone, in all things. A lesser actor would have made a hammy mess of this episode but she was absolutely magnetic throughout. A true legend of stage/screen. 🙌🏻
I love how many people were talking mad crap about this show before it even came out and it turned out to be one of the best stories Marvel has done in years.
He has had quite a few losses that he didn’t want, from ‘Mrs Hart’, to Alice, to Lilia, and he nearly died himself; this journey has not been a good journey for Billy. He only got his own way on joining the road because he cast the spell before the other witches cast it (they were going to do it without him and leave him petting the rabbit). He carefully studied and flattered Agatha to get her to go and she willingly did the rest out of her own self-interest. Then he experienced 2 traumatic losses of fellow witches in a row. The fact that both Death and Agatha saw the ghost of Evanora Harkness is very telling, especially given Death’s very clear disgust and actual worry about leaving Agatha with her mother is very telling, powerful as Billy is - he does not sit above Death and his magic should not be able to deceive a cosmic being of her power level.
When he said had she ever been on the road she looked absolutely heartbroken so I believe she has definitely done the road and it's how she lost Nicholas
@@mockingslur6945I'm starting to think so as well. Especially since he didn't know he had those types of power. Also, I wonder if that's something Lilia maybe saw in his reading
The colors are 100% just for the element associated with their magic type blue for water (potions), Red/orange for fire (protection), Yellow for air (divination) Purple is for spirit magic,
Yes, the writer’s wrote it this way so that the story is connected to the rest of the universe. Every Easter egg doesn’t have a meaning in the story, per se, but works to make the story richer.
I think they're not on the road but in Billy's hex. He said the road was just as he pictured it. I think this is how Agatha realized who he was because she HAD been on the road and this ain't it
i think it's sort of both. they are on the road, but billy is able to manipulate it due to his power as the future demiurge. that, or the road shapes itself to the most powerful witch in the coven. which would explain why it's just how billy thought it would be, but agatha seems unfamiliar. the road didn't shape itself to her this time.
I have a theory that no witch can finish the road because at the end of the road there is death, even Rio/death herself said it "In the end all roads lead to me". The only reason Agatha could finish the road before (if she actually walked it) is because she had a relationship with Rio/death who allowed her to cross it. This time I don't think Rio will allow her to do that. I feel that Rio might do a deal with Agatha that if she let's Rio take Billy/William she will let Agatha finish the road because William was supposed to die in the car crash it was Billy who saved him, so Rio/Death is missing a body which she will take by doing that deal with Agatha but Agatha will not agree to it & try to save Billy out of guilt for what she did with Nicholas Scratch.
Oh yesh great show my issue with the episode is the salem seven seemed wasted but i understand they were setting up rio as the villain still dose not make me happy about it
Having Wanda in this show would ruin it for me. She doesn’t need to be here. The show has been great on it’s own without her presence and having Tommy would make way more sense and fit Billy’s arc way more. Plus Wanda just “died” in MoM. Pet her lie a little longer. Have Doom bring her back to make their relationship make more sense.
@@andyroth3356 lol source. it's how people are interpreting things in the episode. like how billy said that the road looked just as he imagined, after they first got there. and agatha said it suits him. manipulating reality without knowing it was literally what wanda did, that could be the tell agatha was talking about. it could also be why agatha seems unfamiliar with the road, it's not how it was for her. but it's also possible the road shapes itself to the most powerful witch, and that why it looks like billy imagined, and is unfamiliar to agatha. or it could be both. they are on the road, but billy is unconsciously manipulating it. assuming they go the rout where billy is the destined demiurge, he would have the power to alter the road. as the demiurge will control all magic, and the road is a realm of magic.
@@andyroth3356 another theory video said it but the idea seems like a stretch and doesn't quite hold up against things like the effects of the rune and his injury during Alice's trial.
I think Agatha is not familar with the road because they are not on the Witches Road. It's Billy's hex. I think the flashbacks are from the time when Agatha was on the road.
Fitting that Lilia was dressed as Glinda since Glinda is the one who sets Dorothy in her journey like Lilia did at the end of the trial. Also, Agatha dressed as the WWotW, the second to last obstacle for Dorothy and the oz crew. Rio is likely the wizard/man behind the curtain in this metaphor. Teen as maleficent makes sense bc they are both two things at once (fairy and witch/kaplan and maximoff) and then Jenn as the evil queen relates to her being the high priestess
I think when Billy was being a snarky teenager calling Agatha's bluff about whether or not she's really been on the road before, and telling her to "Prove it" when she said the wicked witch of west. It's a telling clue that he doesn't realize that he's the green witch and the one who created this "witches road". He romanticized the road a bit and that's why it's so "fantastical" vs the real one Agatha travelled before. She looked really hurt when he did that. Like she was thinking "I'm trying to support you, even though I know the full truth about you." This was Billy's quest all along for real, not Agatha's. His coven was with him before he even realized or 'needed' them in the way he needed them (they've been protecting him all along in a different way outside the road). I'm hoping that once his hex is broken the other witches will come back to life. He told Liliah that he would have saved Alice from Agatha if he knew then that he could. I think Agatha feels that if he's powerful enough to create this road, he's powerful enough to give her her powers back. I think that the flickering red lights on the walls of the tunnels when Liliah and Jen hid from the 7, was Wanda! She's coming!!! But the promos with Wanda in them look like she's an AI picture so that's odd. I look forward to the season finale next week!
They're most likely using the elements of wiccan. Which are Water (blue), Fire (red and orange), Earth (green and brown), Air (yellow and white), Spirit (white or purple) If they were going to use the color of the infinity stones and their meanings then Lilia would have been green because of the way she experiences time. Remember this show can be watched by people that have no or limited knowledge of the MCU. Also the reason Billy said he already has a mother and it's not Wanda is because he can't remember anything before the crash. So the Kaplans are the only parents he knows
@wxywawjy626 True. But so far, they had a water trial for Jen. A fire trial for Alice. A spirit trial of Agatha. Lilia's trial was air. Next is the earth trial, which will be Billy's
This was a great overall episode but I was confused about the death reveal. She's been basically saying she's death the whole season. Same with the "am I Tommy or Billy" question. I didn't think there was confusion there. The death scene at the end was movie status though. That was great!
The reveal was for Lillia. She has been avoiding her own power because she has been traumatized by death. So death wasn't only tied to Agatha but her too.
No one on the road knows she’s death but Rio. No one ever called her death prior to this episode. That’s why everyone has bend saying in the videos tho.
I said I would rage if she died… but man… it was so well done, so beautifully written, such a finality to it… it made ME understand that as much as I loved her… this was the end of her path and it felt right.
MT, you are a freak of nature and your brain is a super-computer. I imagine you’d make for intensely fun conversations man. Thank you and phenomenal work as always!
I love how crazy detailed this show is. if you look at the knight of wands tarot card they use the way the knight stands holding his lance facing to the right his hands are positioned exactly like Alice's are when she hits Agatha with a blast of energy in the cabin. they really pay attention to detai over there at the mcu.
In case you missed it (you didn’t say it and you used the previous episode clip), in this episode you can see when Lilia says « the three of swords » the scene from her point of view : Agatha standing in front of a dead three that shaped the three swords.
GO DISNEY GO!!! Another great episode of Agatha ALL Along, Billy is my favorite episode 7 and its close with episode 6, I love MARVEL comics and the MCU is next level!
Totally forgot about Death & the other Entities depicted at the opening of GOTG 1 (kinda scarred by their depiction in Love & Thunder): Much appreciated, MT ✊🏾
Agatha and Rio were on the road together and Agatha died. Rio made it through the trials and became death to save Agatha's life. So she is not lying about the road but she isn't telling the whole story.
13:10 That’s actually her teacher. It was said a few times. I believe they’re speaking Italian with a Sicilian dialect and she says “maestra(?)” meaning “teacher”. Maybe a quick google check before assuming.
I love how Paul's breakdowns are all BTS and concrete stuff and MT's are full of wild (yet entertaining) theories. If MT used the "it's all connected" sound, it'd be playing on repeat in the background.
Alright MT, it's looking like you may have been right about the colors of the Witches Road being connected to the Infinity Stones. By this logic, this implies that Rio will have the next trial since the iron maiden path is green and Rio was initially introduced as the green witch.
Although Billy and Rio share similarities such black heart and being a green witch, the next green trial is for Billy. As Agatha said, Rio is a visitor, she's not a witch and not part of their coven.
Thanks a ton Mr. MT. ... Tried watching a NRS Breakroom style clip & it just brought me directly here. ... You're missed within those halls, but whatever, thankful to have yourself doing what you do within these ones. Best of everything to you & yours. ... Thanks to all else involved with this as well. ... The given time, efforts, & platform are indeed appreciated * Also, thinking that the witches road is just a metaphor for the life of a witch. .... This is all a hex by Billy & Agatha knew as much all along. Been thinking as much since last week and this last episode has made me believe it even more. Either way, excited to find on out. Fun little show. ... Much like the Penguin, it's been an unexpected treat. ... Happy to have em both as the dark days of Fall & Winter are settling in. - 🤘
I didn’t realize MT was no longer with New Rockstars. I knew I hadn’t seen him and Tommy in a while but it never clicked. I will be spending my time here now. MT is a fantastic dude and gives great breakdowns.
Although it was Lilia’s trial she still confirmed that he’s the magician aka Billy which confirmed that William had died hence why Billy was able to inhabit the body. Because it was an empty vessel because William’s souls had already left. He asked if he was William or Billy because he had no memories of his life as William but also felt like there was more aka why he even questioned if he wasn’t William
William is no more. Billy is confused because imagine waking up in a stranger's body and they call you that body's name and not your's. Obviously, after some point you will have identity crisis. Furthermore, Billy has no recollection of past. He doesn't even accept Wanda being his mother because all her memory is gone. I don't think he will ever call a robot, his papa. That will be more confusing for him. I feel like Billy since heard about Wanda being evil combining with his memory loss. He assumes he was also held hostage by Wanda. Forced to play her son. Or, it's her hex that's fragmented him btw Billy and William. Probably this is why he will unknowingly bring back Wanda. Because he wants to know the truth of his identity. But I am still confused on what Lillia saw to have her put a Sigil. Because he will call himself William Kaplan and not Billy.
He calls himself William bc that’s the body he is in but he knows he is Billy. The only reason he doesn’t remember much about his past as Billy is bc when you are “reincarnated”…you are born again & will not remember your past life at all.
This is Billy's Hex. They are in the tunnels under Westview like Sharon mentioned. Agatha even clocked this at the beginning saying it suits you when he says it is everything he imagined it to be.
The best episode of the season and by far one of the best of all time! I like the swords hanging over their heads, which seams taking from the “sword of Damocles”, an old tale from ancien Sicily, which fits perfectly with Lilis origin.
Love the series! Love your amazing breakdowns! Did you see that one of the first swords that fell was from "Conan the Barbarian"? I'd love to know if some of the other swords were also from famous movies!
Thanks MT! I love it when Nerd Papa breaks down big stuff like Death/Thanos - and you have been spot-on with your assessment of the cosmic energies color-code too. Feige, hire this man as a consultant!
Lilia's vision showed her future glimpses of Jennifer being dubbed the high priestess and agatha representing the three of swords. Does that mean that Lilia is truly not dead if she can see the future past her death or is she really dead and her witch ability is on a different level than the ancient one and the time stone?? Any thoughts?
The infinity stone theory is a reach not gonna lie which you didn't spend so much time on it. Now the thing I'm interested in is will Lilia be able to show up in other marvel properties or even save Alice by doing the trail over like she seems so useful. Her powers are by far the best we've seen in the MCU just showing how magic characters can expand the mcu.
This episode was written so well. They have really really payed attention to every detail since episode one. They did all this knowing what they will do
MT called it last week when you pointed out the order of colors on infinity stones and I watched for it this week. Yep the green colors in the "roots" in the exit behind iron maiden confirmed it. Well done
So far it's been one of my favorite episodes of the series. I love you're breakdown of the infinity stone colors and the colors of the road. meaning is Marvel is very color coded. Good work.
Mm, I also feel that they're really pulling on Wicked (the book) as a rough parallel for Agatha's character. The book is much darker, they left the assault and domestic terrorism out of the musical. Plus, ya know, Elphaba had a kid and gave him up (mostly because she was in a coma the entire pregnancy and didn't know it was her kid.)
I think, like Agatha took control of Wanda's hex, Rio took control of Billy's hex. But Rio feels that Agatha will end up killing her coven, like she did the first time on the witches road. That way Agatha gets her powers back, and fulfill her promise to battle Rio(Death). Your content is a vibe.🫡
