This is how remasters should be made. Faithful yet with all the details added in that memory used to add... DE looks like how I remember AoE2 looking when I was 8.
@@peterjoyfilms "Oh no no no, we gotta promote our own upcoming store and new Windows first. I know! Let's remake AoE 1 and release exclusively on our store, only compatible to our new Windows, without even fixing any problem the original game has whatsoever!!! Nostalgia suckers would surely flock in in swarms!" - Some higher-up asshole at Microsoft
The pyramid though, different from others, it's actually rigid, not hollowed and therefore should collapse differently than what shown here... Still an amazing job
I don’t still understand after so many years why did they make the Temple of Heaven as an extra Wonder Building if the Chinese Wonder Building is the Temple of Heaven 😹😹😹
Okay, the Mongols was the one I was most curious about seeing destroyed and I really like how they kept the identity of a tent by not making it shatter completely, but the cloth kinda flutters down
Imagine if they treated the Diablo 2 community to a remaster of this caliber. Too bad they're lazy, out of touch, or just simply don't like success and their fans.
The management of the Portuguese wonder hotel would like to inform all guests that the pool will be closed indefinitely after the remodelling of the exterior facade.
Probably the best remaster even made. A lot of work done with respect of original game and fans, not a simple "free money" selling product. Thanks to the devs and Microsoft for doing this remaster well, unlike some other companies...
really digging the paintjob on the aztec + maya wonders. also I appreciate how the collapse animations are different depending on yhe building material. you can tell a lot of care went into this.
Huge props to the developers, this was so awesome. I absolutely love the rubble mechanics. So much attention to detail. I loved every one of the remastered building, but in my opinion I do prefer the old Britons wonder.
The small ones go crazy when you finally get them low. Atleast that's what little me found out when I purged Cairo in the Saladin campaign. Like the devs thought it would be cool to stack every snow, flame, flag and torch animation onto the model. Considering the small ones had even higher HP than the big one, quite a feat to ever see that.
I really enjoy when they start colapsing in a small area in the base, leading to the colapse of what it sustains such as in the Goths 1:50 And also when its a single tower who colapses and its weight hitting the surface bellow leads to the collapse of the rest, such as the Malay 6:40 instead of those times they simply start crumbling all over the place. Also Wooden structures look really neat, and the Mongol great Tent's physics are perfect.
Yeah, half of it is a pity, everything starts collapsing at the same time, also some building are completely empty. I mean, mountains for Incas and Pyramids, how the fuck should they collapse on themselves xD
@@Es1777s Domino effect for collapsing, starting from one point getting to others. Some strctures (like pyramids and the mountains) should have just the surface and the buildings on it collapsing And to allow domino effect, have a true 3d model inside the building, even if not every room and badly textured, just to do not give the impression that it free falls on itself with no resistance whatsoever
@3:33 My Faith ❤️ This Wonder is our Altar of Heaven。。。天壇。 The specific building depicted is 祈年殿。 Sadly, it was greatly damaged by fire in 1889... but it wasn't attacked! It was 🌩️. Then we REBUILT 😁
year111 I really wish the same thing, I got the game for my new computer but it doesn’t work and idk how to fix it. And right now I would really like a remastered version of it because I really really want to play it
@@jeremyoleary5788 the expanded fronts mod on moddb fixes some capability issues with newer systems in addition to adding a crap ton of new features. It's the best you can get for the time being.
I love it. Imagine being in a intense battle, fighting to defend your wonder and it gets destroyed with this animation. Just so impressive and sad, all the greatness of the wonder destroyed with a pretty dramatic destruction animation. Very powerful
@@simplelife88393 I know, I'm an Engineer, but it still doesnt look good that the Pyramid og Giza, the Templo Mayor, the Great Jaguar Temple, and Machu Pichu are all hollow, when they are really fucking solid structures in the real world.
One thing amazing about DE is that no one expected they to add the collapse animations, but they actually bothered to do it...and it turned out looking tragically beautiful. But I have one small complaint about DE,which is that since they added collapse, the damage effect should be remade into buildings being partially damaged,to make it consistent with the final collapse, not inheriting the flame effect in original. This looks a bit out of place.
They sure did a fantastic job, but still I wonder how no one from Microsoft saw that fires magically extinguish themselves before each building collapses.
Well they had to come up with something unrealistic because in real life these are just impossible to destroy, even today it would take sooooo much explosive power, and Im not even sure of the results tbh.
I think the devinitive edition has more sharp graphic and bright colors. While the HD edition look is more classic and rely more on the aspect of natural colors.
If it would be only that it would just be "okay". But what is amazing on the DE version is that they added more intricate and impressive details, with some wonders looking a lot different.
Looks great. Seems they worked on every details. Buildings are collapsing the way in the materials nature (For example Mongols tent isn't collapsing like a stone building but a tent made of cloth 4:01)
Nice Video! And actually, they fukin killed it with this game. I didn't even hear about the DE version until it was released and boi, I was and still am happy af. Such a pleasure to play some smooth multiplayer parties with my homies.
Its amazing how good the remastered version is. Not only does it have more features but it looks way more realistic. A cool thing i saw is that the wonder of the huns has some gold stuff on the ground. On DE when the wonder is destroyed when it falls those golden things move like they were hit by the stones. Or the fact that the wonder that the mongols made when destroyed in DE falls like a cloth like it should be. I really want to buy AoE2 DE now.
So they changed the Britons wonder, excellent! Now, I find some of the collapsing animations look kind of weird, as if the buildings were hollow from inside, i. e. The pyramids and those with a base of stairs.
