@ConnorDarkrule77 Actually Ensemble didnt go bankrupt, Microsoft disbanded them after Halo Wars in 2009. I quess this was because Microsoft at the time didnt see RTS genre anymore as something that was profitable enough. Anyhow the funny fact is that you would not think that 10 years later its not gotten any better with RTS genre, but I quess the reason Microsoft decided to bring the franchise back in big way was because of how popular AOE 2: HD edition was in Steam. I mean for sure that fanbase is still relatively small compared to some other games/genres, but clearly Microsoft thought that it was enough reason for them to bring Age of Empires back.
I'm really gonna miss the Age of Exploration tho, the sound of cannons and muskets, and of course...the Ships. I wonder if they gonna keep the Metropolis mechanic, and how far they'll go for the detail. I mean, one of the most iconic things of the medieval period was the Byzantine Empire, CONSTANTINOPLE, AND IT'S WALLS!
@@sonnyboi1761 Idk.. xD they just said xD.. Medieval age.. xD (400s-1400s) and by age of exploration I don't mean just exploring xD.. I meant certain period in history ..xD the Age of Exploration xD.. (1492-1700s), when warfare changed a lot you know ..xD, this game will have more Bow and arrow, melee Sword clusterfucks, more use of heavy cavalry xD.. and catapults, trebuchets.. xD like the medieval age you know xD.. not a mid-range firearm dominance by musketeers and riflemen, with light, ranged cavalry being superior and cannon power xD.. like we had in the age of exploration xD..
5 best hopes for campaigns in this one- Byzantines- Belisarius Persians- Khusrow (They had him in the forgotten but there is a lot more to tell of him). Vikings- Sweyn Forkebeared and Canute the Great. Franks- First Crusade. Chinese- Li Shimin (AKA emperor Tang Taizong).
Age of empires is the game that brought me to gaming on pc, I love rts games the most. But age of empires started it all. I'm glad to see they are making a return since I remember that last day when the creators shut down. I love relic they have a strong rts backround
Ah, those age of empires vibes come flooding back. Memories of building an army and sending them into battle, and as they reach the crest of the hill they start to hear strange chanting, and I think...oh no anything but that. Then I realize, that it's AOE's most feared npcs...those darn monks are at it again, converting all my troops against me!!!! lol
@@DynamixWarePro I don't know why they did this. But They should not have done this. Age of Empires Series were games in which in the start of the game you can start making an army. But now it looks like the Game System used in The Settlers Game Series. As a Fellow Game Developer, I do not think highly of this new Age of Empire Game. I waited for Age of Empires 4 for So long. But I am Very Disappointed to See this quality. Because Age of Empire Games Series always did their own thing not only the style of others.
+@@ledsanreplays8225 : I guess your right! I thought it would work. It would still stay! Some what? Age of Empires middle ages and renaissance. But? Having it Modern at the same time not having powerful weapons/tech. Kind of like the 1st world war. Such as? adv. rifles & machine guns, tanks, early armored vehicles, airplanes, and etc. I don't know any other. RTS games? With the start of Ancient all the way to the end of Industrial Age & Victorian Era. They mostly? Stay or past and beyond the information age/ 21st century.
@@Clee-os6pv they usually keep gping on to the future, tho I dont like the idea of tanks and planes in aoe, even ensemble studios did not liked the idea enough
+@@ledsanreplays8225 : Thanks for supporting and being interested. In my idea in the previous comment. Your right! And I agree with what you say. And? Yes! My idea does still seem to be a little bit to empire earth. In my honest opinion. At least? In the Industrial Age & Victorian Era. They didn't have tanks and planes or any adv. units. That goes! Beyond? adv. single shot rifle fire or mounted horse or riding animals. I remember? In the 3rd Age of Empires. They still had the tech of a musket unit with a flint or cap lock musket rifle. That seems? More advance then the match lock non rifled musket.
I am 19 years old. I have been waiting for this game for 11 years now. When I started, I thought that games would have infinite sequels each progressively more expensive than the previous one :P
Aoe 4 looks amazing can't wait to play! Hopefully lots of content for both multiplayer and singleplayer. Imagine modding in this game it would look great.
My requests...nay, demands (in no particular order)! 1. Night mode 2. Garrisoning units in respective buildings post-creation. All civs can garrison vills in houses...that's what they're for. See #3. 3. Garrisoned units take siege damage if building is razed with them inside; possibly killed. Adds common sense approach while still not allowing games to go on forever. 4. Single-player trading between towns (TCs) at reduced rate (think national vs. international trade); trading is nullified in single-player currently. 5. Smart units (e.g. pikes attack cav instead of champs when both present, archers attack champs over skirms when both present) and units don't run headlong into a castle/keep unless player forces. So let it be written, so let it be developed.
Soooo happy they chose medieval times!!! Love that time period and cant wait to play this. I grew up on the series it will be epic to get back 20 years later!!
I really have high hopes for this, Relic Is making it, the ones who Made company of heroes, one of my favorite ww2 RTS games, Also it was about Time age of empires came back.
Its something lost in history but actually trebuchets, catapults, etc were all living creatures possessed by a man called Walt Disney. They were peaceful loving tribes that were conquered by humans and enslaved and made to fight their enemies. Sick really.
When he says that they make sure the unit wears the equipment similar to what they would have worn in his civilization in that time in that age, is he implying that the same unit will have different outfits based on the tech/age you have researched? it would be so cool
Very cool. I got to playtest Age of Empires 3 at the ES Community Day 2005 before the rest of the world, at Ensemble Studios (I was one of the angels at HeavenGames, aka, Angel Lysimachus). Microsoft/Ensemble Studios flew us down there to Ensemble Studios in Dallas Texas. Seeing these trailers gives me memories. :)
Unless there are civs and deck cards like in AoE3, i will pass :D Leveling civs and choosing different cards and strategies was very unique and enjoyable.
I love the grass , however i also hope they have like blood and gore like Aoe 2 where u could see bodies decomposing for some time. Kinda gave me a feel when the battlefield was littered with corpses.
I’m a bit worried. I know the current meta for strategy games is short and small maps. And I realize that is what most people want, I just really hope they give an opportunity for larger and more tile consuming maps
"We wanted to stay true to the history". "The factions you see on a trailer are English and Mongols". "When have they ever met on a battlefield? Idk. It's a game" ....oh ok.
Well..., actually had the great Khan not died they likely would of been more committed and had more success in eastern Europe. After eastern is central then western. There's also the potential with both Poland and the Holy Roman Empire being Catholics at the time that the Pope would call for a crusade. They could have also meet in the middle east near the holy land. The Mongols attacked the Muslim kingdom's making the Europeans think wrongly that maybe they were the lost tribes of Jerusalem and also Christians. They disappeared only to reappear in eastern Europe. So there's some potential here.
I don't have a PC that can handle this game, but I do have an Xbox One X and I loved Age of Empires 3. Really hoping to see an Xbox port that I can play using Mouse and Keyboard

So the start date is a little bit earlier than AOK. How much earlier can you go? The original was in the dark age. Before that and you have the romans right so how would that work?
Why couldn't it? The collapse of the Roman Empire, into the transition into the Holy Roman Empire and into the rise of the Eastern Roman Empire would cover that stretch of European history. Of course, it'd be far more interesting if they delve into the development of empires outside of Europe and not be overly Euro-centric.
@@Sevenfold120 Just because there was social disruption doesn't mean the technology is backwards. Campaigns can focus on story telling just fine. Gameplay mechanics is about technological progression, which still occurred in the dark ages. The progress from lamellar and banded mail of the Iron Ages to chain and plated armors of the middle ages is completely acceptable. Military technology never regresses, only civil technologies are likely to regress, like losing Roman concrete or their infrastructural technologies.
@@rickgrimes4845 actually it looks like mix of Stronghold (with levels of houses) and Settlers (with graphic). And battle looks almost like Total War... :)
@@alexanderlunacharsky96 yeah but that exactly what i dont want from total war. I want aoe battle. I dont want aoe4 to become another total war type of game
No.. it is the end, of the rennaisance because the beginning is the 13th hundred.. that is not further in time than aoe2 was.. soo it is the end. which is in the 16th hundred..
