Abbasid is so frustrating because it rarely feels like they are doing Abbasid things and not just something any civ can do. The Abbasid thing is somehow getting outside to every age no matter whose playing them and constantly harassed until you just lose in the mid or late game. I wish they had an identity besides sometimes building a couple camels
Yeah, like they have some GREAT techs, but it really just feels bland to play them. Camels are relatively expensive for having such a small niche. Although, camel rider spam could have actually been really strong in this game to counter the knights and rival the mobility (but then again, you need several techs to reach this level of counter).
The Camels are their actual problem. They're just too bad and cost a ton. Also their attackspeed feels worse than a scouts. Reduce cost by 60 food from 180 to 120, fix their attack animation / attackspeed and you could rely on them as affective counters against cav civs like french and maybe mongols/rus. Rus horsearcher mop the floor against the only units that deals bonus them right now while having more range, attackspeed and only costing half as much. RN rus horse archers feel so unbalanced to the point for me where i consider just quitting when i have rus as my enemy.
@@foresightfox1256 Yes, comparing Camel Archers to Rus Horse Archers is so unfair, it's ridiculous. Paying that much more for 3x damage against Spearmen while sti having worse range and speed is absolutely not worth it. I don't know who thought that 120 resources with no gold cost would be a fair price for any mounted archer unit. Two tiles range updgrade is also very fun when they reach the mass to one-shot mangos. I'm having so much fun with this game, but man, there is some stuff going on with bugs and balance :D
@@DarkEpicSlayer Yeah hopefully the balance and fine tuning will keep coming. So many people hours being played that it's really hard to QA all the changes needed without delaying a game prior to releae while fine tuning for another 2-3 years. It'll get there I'm sure.
The funny thing is camel archers do no bonus dmg to horse archer unlike camel riders who do bonus dmg to cav (melee and ranged cav) but it get even more fun cuz even with the 15% movespeed buff camel rider barely catch up to them
Relic really disappointing us viewers by not including the victory countdown timer in the spectator view. I wanted to see how long that game was on the last second!
And no camels from StatesSC2. Abbasids are supposed to be the perfect counter to French but that wasn't showcased here with a lack of camels til very late game.
Dons patience is so impressive. I've seen him in several games sit back and let the enemy push into his base and i'm yelling at the screen "ATTACK YOU FOOL!" but he waits until he knows he can get the best position before attacking. He's my fav AOE4 player
It's because of AOE3. He's from AOE3. And that game has a much faster pace and one little misplace swings a match, so being extremely careful in taking fights was the norm.
Dude this was PEAK AOE4 holy shit! The sites creates so much pressure and tension that just wasn't there before they're so cool! Those knights mobility and the villager sacrifice is a crazy technique man. Very French lmao
3:30 it's not a bug it stops you pretend building across the map to see if the opponents are building mines. It let's u place the building alongside the mine in the 'semi fog' but will go when it's re-revealled if u scroll off screen
There is something like that. But with mining camps it doesn't work as it should. Mines often disappear for no reason. Even those built in your range of view
He placed the building atop the mine by mistake in the fog of war (two squares collide) so the building got canceled when the actual position of the stone was revealed. It shows at 3:25 when he selects the stone then the building
Honestly, when I first saw they added these sacred sites, I thought this would be the meta for every game. Played enough Guild Wars 2 pvp to know what it's like to capture and hold nodes to win.
Damn I think the sacred site thing is just silly from any perspective, you can build 10 keeps around them and run around with a horse and that's the game...I wanted to see some economic growth, some big fights, some base atks...all I saw were some horses running around a pole... super frustrating to be State
I mean if you can afford to put 10 castles around each sacred site then you could've pushed into the base and killed them. It is just different ways to win.
At any point after countering the mass knights he could've pushed out and taken map control. But he walled up 100% and hid instead. I would prefer to not have stupid turtle games where both players sit either side of some walls and just treb each other slowly for 60 minutes until one runs out of gold.
Game actually has a gameplay that feels pretty old... same like old Rise of Nations games had... considering that it is 2022 now they should look more how Total War series produce their games, lot to learn from that
Ehhh, it’s not a click bait title I’m just upset the abbasid player didn’t use camels earlier on. It was really good micro at the end but an anti Calvary force would have changed the direction of the game early on.
i think it would be kinda fun to watch the pros play a death match scenario where they start with a boat load of resources and at one of the last ages, anything on here like that?
@@partydean17 It also means that when spears line up, a spearman can attack a knight through another spearman (aka you have two rows instead of one). This doubles the amount of spears that can hit a knight in any given area, so it is quite powerful if used correctly.
It was really a great game. Still, I don't like how all the maps have same textures. It's called Arabia, but it looks like any other map. It could also be called Great planes or something similar. Grass textures seem same, trees are same... I don't have a felling like map is placed in Arabia.
You can actually change the map "Biome" when making a game. Arabia is the generation type, named after the AoE2 map, then this would be the grassy biome. I would like maps to have a default biome you can override if you want. But currently I think the default is the green one.
State was being consistently outplayed the entire match. IDK why Don Artie made it this close when he could have chilled on his age advantage and don't go all in on the sacreds.
