Age of Empires 4 - Water Maps Make Insane Games 

Looove the aoe4 casts some of the most intresting games I’ve seen

Love the fact, that players from every AOE are coming together for Age4!

Dhows and these fishing boats look the same, the fishing boat is just smaller, i hope they change one of them to have an easier time differentiating them. It’s similar with European archer and attack ships, they have the same shape except for the extra sail.

AoE 4 - please add kraken AoM players - you guys don't have kraken?

They need to fix the spawn of Berry bushes and trees.. some are in the water..and i dont know if the TC should spawn that close to the costline

The Seaweed blocking line of site is so counter intuitive, they should change it to a misty/shrouded area or a few shipwrecks that blocks line of site instead. Personally i found this map was my least favourite of the stress test, it needs more features to make it more interesting and not just a boring ship/eco war imo.

I pray and hope to the gods that after Age of Empires 4 is released they will use the same engine to make a Age of Mythology variant with different gameplay. I really miss Age of Mythology's chaos and gamechanging godpowers

Abbasid is severely underrated on water, all people say about what is good about them is that 'they have cheaper docks'. Which by themselves is good, but not good enough. Some of the other significant advantages they have are: - Dhows shoot while moving - Dhows are the fastest ships in the game, this however is balanced by them having the lowest hp out of the age 2 ships. - They have an upgrade giving Dhows +100 hp. All of a sudden, they now have more hp than the other age 2 ships besides french hulks. - Going culture wing first. This makes upgrades cheaper, notably fishing nets and steeled arrows. All of these make Abbasid probably the second strongest age 2 water civ. You can save insane amounts of money over time with the cheaper upgrades to as gold is the main limiting resource in water battles, allowing for more attack ships. Faster ships + shoot while moving also makes Dhows incredibly microable. - Baghlah's also have an arrow attack aside from their ballistae, which shoots while moving and benefits from the blacksmith arrow upgrades. This means the money you invested into the extra damage for age 2 ships does not go to waste, giving Abbasid a further edge in age 2, as steeled arrow is even less of an investment and a higher chance of occurring in a game. - Baghlah's are just barely the strongest age 3 ship. However cost for cost all ships lose to the Lodya (without demos) - Xebecs are the second strongest age 4 ship, only barely losing to the Bouchaun, and easily trumping the Carrack. They are more expensive than the Carrack significantly and cheaper than the Bouchaun. All ships lose cost for cost to the Lodya in every age, however Lodyas are significantly weaker to demo ships and defensive structures. - Abbasid has the strongest trading in the game, which includes trading ships. Recommended aging path on water: Culture, Trading, Economic, Military. Additional: Having Economic doesn't matter as food is never an issue on water maps. The only upgrade useful in water maps is the age 4 upgrade which increases gathering from anything. Military doesn't affect ships in any way. Only camels and infantry. Culture is super useful and is better the earlier you get it. Trading is extremely strong, however takes up production time so investing in traders on water in age 2 is likely a death sentence.

Never in my life I though I would enjoy water games as much as a did on aoe4. Naval combat on this game is simply on another lvl.

I love this game so much but I literally have no idea on how to play it correctly like you, and also I can't even afford to buy this game so I used to play pirated versions of age III and II, and I just wanted to comment to let you know that "Abassid" is actually called "Abbasi" in pronunciation like without the "D" in the end. 😊

Why the heck are the ships just healing being near the docks. How tf would that work?

My far biggest issue with the game is then narrow FOV, you cannot zoom out well enough like you can in Anno 1800 for example. I get the the original games had also a narrow FOV but we are in 2021 now with wide and ultrawide monitors here, cannot believe they have not focused on that aspect of it.

I wish we could see archers shooting the ship's arrows rather than arrows just spawning from the hull, It's 2021 Relic has the technology to do this, game engines were limited years ago so games didn't have these details, why can't se have it now? If I want to experience 2000s RTS graphics, ill go play a 2000s RTS.

the overlay lacks an in game score and the ship models looks very undone - I hope they make them look better - atm it's just a piece of wood with a sail...

Can't wait to pull up with my aggressive starcraft style to these unsuspecting macro focused aoe players. Discovering and doing new timings attacks is in my opinion the superior way to play rts.

I really liked his strategy this time. And a few Hull are much better than lots of archer boats

I felt like water maps were absolute cancer. They weren't fun in any of the matches I played. If it were up to me, I'd make water maps about 50% larger than land maps with similar players, but also make individual ships much, MUCH stronger. Give them actual turning radiuses and some acceleration and deceleration so you have to manage them more. Instead, it's just mass warships and you win.
