if ur building a trebuchet to destroy a few tents u might have some other problems to deal with first

Probably don't need to build trebs against mongols...building even one would be your first mistake. You're best bet is what they said in the trailer, map awareness of stone deposits (since they need to build on them to get stone) and catching them offguard when moving their base. Willing to bet the mongol will be one of the most difficult civs to master.

@@xShredsx Having played the demo, I can say they are quite difficult - but very fun!

good news for you , u dont need heavy siege to destroy them. Once u at that stage that you are attacking a mongol base, means mostly u already win the game.

all non faction unique units are identical and fighting in the early game your light horsemen are countered by spearmen and mangudai are countered by longbowmen and archers in straight fight, so you have to prioritize attack enemy eco to get the most out of your early aggression and use the rewards to snowball into a numbers advantage

Starcraft was impossible to balance and there is only 3 civilizations.

@@draculmorzan I dont mean the units - I mean the civ playstyle. Basically the mongols can control the map by moving their structures. This is almost impossible to deal with as more base-building focused civs who will loose map control almost every game.

@@bradencluster4739 Starcraft is pretty well balanced for how non symmetrical the races were. No game can do it perfectly, and there will always be "more meta" choices, but both SC and AoE heavily rely on player skill.

@@xShredsx I agree. I'm just concerned that balance will be impossible in AoE 4 with so many civilizations that are all so different.

I agree because in Age Of Empire 2 all asian factions like Mongols Koreans Chineses Burmeses etc have the same Architecture confucian chinese architecture

If the producers of the game are smart and good enough, they will try to create a game better than age2. We might play age 4 until 2041 lol, when age 5 is going to release.

The characters looks like fuking cartoons. Great game my no f-ing way. You can find better games made by solo indi devs with much better graphics. This just looks like 3rd rate sub standard product with way too much marketing.

You can choose the size like age 2 definitive you can go from small to gigantic i try medium maps and they felt huge cant imaging a gigantic

@@abhishektomar2082 in game they are not that cartoobish, but especially, they are readable. You can see the lancer, the archer, the arbalest, and on single entity units it's what is important. You will notice that most realistic games tend to not have single entity but groups of troops with some logo or button to represent them. That's the same idea on a lower scale.

@@Indipender I would say the skill level of SC2 is beyond any mere mortal to even attempt. I think AOE4 will be nice as it will be low level at the start, and sounds like they will balance it for competitive play.

I do realistic maps for Age of Empire 2. Check them out. I'm almost finished with my best one ever, of the western hemisphere in the biggest map size possible for HD.

Mongols aren't that bad on Islands, even if it's not the most historically accurate. Theyre pretty good as the Lander in a 2v2 situation as well, leveraging early Feudal age to quickly get military out. Not the best, but not the worst either.

@@omologo95 The mongols did actually have quite an impressive navy thanks to chinese sailors and engineers. They used said navy to invade both Japan and Indonesia.

@@metal_monocle7334 Yeah, it wasn't terrible. The Mongols were experts on employing technologies of conquered nations after all. And they did claim some sea victories in the final campaigns against the Chinese remnants as well. But both the Chinese and Mongol navy wasn't quite as advanced as the Western navies. Mainly because of how terrible waters the Chinese rivers truly are.

@@Seethus It would be Mongols against Mongols actually, Sudden death of Mongke Khan without any succession led to the Civil War that brought destruction of Mongols and opportunities for their Enemies.

@@TopKhan I think he might mean the mass conversion ability seen in the announcement trailer. It will reveal the monk only after the ability is activated.

The mass conversion can only be used if the monk is in a possession of a relic I guess. It also has very long cooldown.

I wish every RTS was like this, not just diff stats and one or two exclusive units.

Play China and turn it into the Yuan dynasty. It's literally what you ancestors did.

This video didn't mention all the massive Trade route bonuses that have been revealed elsewhere for the Mongolians so far, I'm thinking a defensively-minded Mongol playstyle would focus on trading with the neutral sites and building up Outposts (for the Trader speed boost as shown at 1:14) and whatever other defenses they get along the Trade route to achieve economic dominance over the enemy. The very fast cavalry of the Mongol roster would be handy for keeping up with enemy raid attempts against your Traders, though you can always send them out in big waves if you want to make them a harder target and easier for Mongol infantry to keep up. Although I haven't played them yet myself, the Closed Beta calculations for Trader value makes it look like it'll be competitive or potentially superior to traditional economic investments as long as you're a Trade-centric civ like the Mongols or the French (even as early as the Feudal Age).

Relic has experience making asymmetrical but balanced factions for RTS games (CoH). They also constantly keep listening to their players and update the games to keep it balanced
