I really don't understand, and will never understand the gate keeping against Greta Van Fleet. Without these kids there would be almost nobody continuing on the art of classic rock for the next generation. They are purposely paying homage to those who came before while moving things into the 21st century. Not to mention just the sheer talent represented in this band. They deserve respect.
Not agreeing with their more strident critics, but perhaps because they are not the only band plying this and other vintage sounds; Rival Sons( criminally underexposed!), The Temperance movement, not to mention the one and not forgotten Silvertide, as well as Striker and and any number of Metal Revivalists from the frozen north on both sides of the Atlantic( such as pack leading glam revivalists Crazy Lixx from Sweden) come immediately to mind. Now granted, Greta do seem to be getting a good bit more exposure here in the states than their contemporaries - at east if the drift of comments under many of their videos are any indication - and thus more exposure to a younger audience who may have never been introduced to this style of music before. And that's saying something in itself! They're just not the outliers that some fans unacquainted with the very healthy rock and metal revival scenes think they are. ;-)
Been a few years since I've seen a performance like this (on video) that I know the live experience is just gonna be mind blowing. Seriously impressed!
I am 54 years of age and lying here at 2 AM at the Boise Idaho Veteran's Hospital, dealing with Covid pneumonia and I just heard this for the first time. I am absolutely moved by how amazing this is and I feel my soul healing!Incredible!! Cannot wait until I can get home and crank this on the home stereo!! Wow!
The lead singer's voice literally gave me goosebumps from hearing this. He can hit notes like it's nothing. This is true talent. They are keeping classic rock alive.
@@tedcity5861 IMO Josh doesn't particularly have a wide range. He does sound good and has great control, but listening to him speak compared to singing, he has a naturally higher pitch. When he sings lows they are noticeably forced.
So moving music. Saw them in Greenbay Wisc. Awesome Best band moving forward. Best band concert ever. and I seen Queen in 1975. Madison , WI. I was to stoned to drive home. We pulled strawed to see who could drive home. I should not be here. Great band.
You know a band is good when they have more videos live online then official videos that have been altered with every technology computers have to offer.
I will forever be grateful that I am l alive to see the rebirth of the classics (Led Zeppelin, Rush, Doors ,etc) unfold again through this band. They are SO so good.
I've probably watched this 100 times. It's one of the best live performances I've seen. Absolutely Haunting and mesmerizing. So good. Wish they would perform this one more often.
I feel that an essential part of being able to appreciate Greta Van Fleet comes from watching them play, not just listening to them. Watch this and tell me it doesn't conjure up some mysterious magical feeling within you.
Same! I just discovered them a few weeks ago & have watched everything I can including this whole concert several times. Now I’m heading to Nashville to see them this week- so excited
For those that think these guys are riding on the back of Led. Led Zeppelin could not perform this better than Greta. In the midst of todays musical garbage, let’s just enjoy that these guys are adding some fuel to the old fire.
The way I see it, these guys are riding on the backs of Led the way that Einstein stood on the back of Newton. They both contributed greatly to the world (scientific or musical), one was just inspired by the other.
I lived the Zeppelin years and I have one song on my list. Going to California. The rest I could do without. But this band has me hooked. Well done GVF
hahaha so you are saying that Jimmy Page can not play this little kids riffs and Robert plant can not sing this little kids attempt at singing Robert plant style and that that little skinny drummer that John Bonnam can not cave man those drums like his little skinny azzzz ? GTFOH you lost your write to ever comment on this agin Geezzzzz
He’s like a little elf with a kick ass voice! 😍🥰 I love this band and I’m grateful they are bringing rock back, hopefully the young kids of today will be inspired to continue with true music & musicianship …..bring back the glam rock too while you’re at it 🤩
In hospital having Chimeo theraphy and listening in to this refreshing band that takes me back in time to when i was 15 listening to Zeppelin all over again . Amazing sound
Josh is a Monster vocalist in the making🤌❣️. I Hope that they always remain lighthearted funny confident healthy drug-alcohol free focused and a tad humble🥰
Greta Van Fleet - a gorgeous aural experience and with lyrics that can burn into your soul. To watch the joy they give to their fans is a thing of beauty. And to see they clearly love what they do.
His voice is truely special. This clip was the first for me to discover the band. And I will never forget my astonishment, when after this quiet atmosferic 2'40 long intro he sings the first notes .
I don't get the hate these guys have been getting recently. They sound really good, like I'm going back in time when I hear their songs. A very talented group, new fan here.
Recently? from the first moment they showed up always got hate ...specially from some Led Zeppelin fans .....I'm big Led Zep fan and sure they have a a strong influence but many bands had it too ..they have many classic rock influences..anyway fans are used to this hate ..all great great bands were controversials .. loved by many and hated by others.
OK....I'll go ahead and weigh in on this. I'm a M - 67. Still a hard rocker in my deepest soul. As you might imagine, at 67....I've seen a LOT of 'em come and go. Trust me on this: these guys are going to be around for a long, long time. I never heard of 'em until 10 min. ago. Would love to see 'em live. Their stage outfits are bad-ass. jbeinarizona
I guarantee you they will not be around long at all unless the Singer drops that screaming nonsense and change his style. Just doesn’t work for millions of people. The new will wear of these guys soon.
a bit behind you at 57, but right with you. Ive seen them twice (my daughter is mad at me for not taking her). Phenomenal live band. My intro was at Floyd Fest 3 years ago, then drove 4 hours to see them again the next year. The kid's guitar playing is awesome, as he is more about riffs and structure than blinding fast solos. Have to disagree tho about the stage outfits.... I think I had some PJs like that when I was about 8!
What can I add to all the wonderful comments already made. Absolutely brilliant. I am 70 years old so was brought up on Led Zep etc etc. Was fortunate to have seem them back in the early 70's. These 'youngsters' are doing a wonderful job such talent and what a voice ! 👏
Finally.. musicians in this generation knowing the value of talent!! Haven't heard any serious new prog rock in a LONG TIME! So wanna see these guys in concert!!!
I saw these guys two months ago in 2021 and though a lot of people will disagree with me it’s like seeing the evolution of the Beatles in that era to a certain extent these guys are progressing and getting better each time. Thanks to these fantastic brothers and friend that just know how to rock the old fashion way.
Jesus christ!!! This little dude singing is like every great rock singer from the 60s and 70s all morphed into one. Who cares if people think GVF copied.....shit they perfected. Hands down pure talent. Thank heavens the rock Gods have given us more proving Rock and roll isnt dead.
Ive just been introduced to this band by a young woman i work with, and thank you for introducing me to them, im 62 years young and its so good to here this type of rock music again, thank fuck this type of music is being resorrected by the likes of this band, awesome, awesome, awesome..........
I'm 48 and I dnt give a shit what all the haters say Great Van Fleet is a huge breath of fresh air. Relief from all the Rap and other soulless computer generated shit out there.
This is so epic, an "everything song" like Stairway, and Achilles Last Stand. Hard to believe guys so young can write and play with so much power and majesty, reaching all depths and heights of emotion.
Unmatched rhythm and harmony. The guys are now a long way from the Kitzke family garage, the biker bars, and small venues. An almost otherworldly evolution of musical virtuasity and the band being the band. Keep it going guys🙏✌️✌️✌️
What a very unusual voice. And i have never heard of them before, and let me tell you, i love this band. Great story lines in the lyrics. I am a drummer and ive played for years and i like this drummers style. I love this song !!!!!!
When all hope is lost .....i stumble upon this: Best Rock Band in years- or decades?? Barely 25 years old, 4 albums , many Top songs and their Live performances are as good as it gets!
@@marek9002 I have a career so I don’t need a “job”! I’m not badmouthing “Young Bands”, only GVF! I’ve pointed out a young band from Japan called BANDMAID who I think is INCREDIBLE! GVF’s Lead Singer is AWFUL in my opinion! I don’t consider “Screaming” singing! Sorry, it’s my opinion Dude!
I can’t stop listening to this band. I’ve tried to burn myself out on them they are just to fringing awesome. There is still hope for great music long live GVF
These guys take me back to time when we would drive a couple hours in any givin direction to go to a concert. Just about every weekend during the summer months. I'm 53 and my kids can't believe how many concerts I've been to and how many different bands I've seen. Tickets were $10.00 all you needed was a twelve pack a couple joints and gas money to make a lifetime of memories with some friends. Damn I Miss them days!!
My parents always tell me about the concerts they went to, my dad saw the first lollapalooza and all of the pink shows when they were new on the east coast. My mom saw zeppelin and I’ll never feel more jealous about anything
@@ellifisher8689 Didn't get the honor of seeing LZ. My most prized concert was AC/DC with Bon Scott. Bon with Angus on his shoulders came to row right in front of us I could have reached out and grabbed them I was 9 they opened for Kiss. Didn't realize what I was witnessing Bon died a few weeks later
Yeah unfortunately for us, your generation ruined all of that and now concerts are 500 bucks but minimum wage is like a dollar more than it was in 1982. The reason your kids can't believe it is because it's absolutely unthinkable now to be able to go to a concert every weekend unless you're a goddamn millionaire
The problem is that Blue Oyster Cult, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Uriah Heep, Cream etc were already themselves and had something of their own to contribute from the very beginning. Led Zeppelin I, Disraeli Gears, etc were alreadiy absolutely groundbreaking albums (both sonically and musically). For sure they had their influences (and Led Zeppelin in particular more than "influences") but as I said, from the very beginning all those bands were trying to be themselves and were creating something new out of those influences they had. And for sure they succeded at that, having become each of them a perfectly defined rock style and an inescapable reference. Meanwhile, the only "achievement" of these GVF guys so far is to make a retro-rock that constantly recalls (or more than simply "recalls", since they blatanty emulate or even mock) those 70's bands, but they haven't really wrote a single song "of their own" yet, nor seem to be trying to do it either. They're like seeing one of those absurd "tribute" bands, only difference is the mega-hype, and that they (GVF) are more professional and pretentious. I can understand the under-25 y.o. enthusiasm, but don't get how on earth anyone who grew up during the 70's can buy this (fake) product.
@@katelynrose3024 what are you on, love? I never said it didn't take talent to copy Led Zeppelin. GVF has a metric shit-ton of talent. That's what I like about them. If you lack the ability to hear how they try to sound like Led Zeppelin that's totally on you
These guys showed me what real music is. I feel their songs with my whole being like nothing I’ve heard before. It’s absolutely incredible what they achieve through their music. This band is so wonderful.
I always come back to this song, this concert and am in awe at the level of musicianship by three young men and an amazing young vocalist. Not playing to track but playing their hearts out. Every time I come away inspired and isn't that what the arts are supposed to bring to our lives? Thank you Greta Van Fleet for what you've done to do exactly that for me and dare I say others too. 👑🎤🎸🎹🥁❤🔥🎶
@@rozashield1706 Are you constantly posting the exact same post in Russian in every thread on this video? Nobody cares because most people here can't read Russian anyway!GTFO!!!🙈😎
This band gave me hope and something to bring me joy when I was battling covid and in the darkest months of my life. I cannot wait to see them in November 🥰
