Big tip for atlantean military: use counter barracks units. They get crazy bonuses against their counter type in damage. All those cavalry raids would have been shreded by the counter cavalry mace infantry.

@35:18 you ask if Draft Horses will affect Destroyers. The unit description screen will show all technologies affecting that unit. And yes, Destroyers gain speed from using the tech.

Viper, you should train myth units more often. They are really powerful and good value (cost favor and another type of resource). It's the Age of MYTHOLOGY after all... :)

The Vortex God power is actually a Mythic age God power. In this scenario, you simply have a trigger which gives it when you uproot the Norse temples. In pvp, you can use Vortex three times(as with most Atlantean God powers).

So this is how you (nearly, he had to use it at the end) complete the mission without using the Pegasus relic

Your next mission is gonna be very special. I think you will have a very good time if you figure out what to do early. You would be like OHHHHH THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE Seriously, atlantean campaigns is super entertaining to play and I got lots of entertainment by watching you suff- I mean play them

Just so you know, if you go into the diplomacy tab it will show how many of each god power you have, which is helpful for missions like this where you have extra ones (in this case I think there are 10 uses of Vortex). Also, after so many years of playing Age of Mythology I only just now learned that the Atlanteans have those little dots above their god power icons to show how many you get/have left.

Viper! Make the god damn counter barracks!! Atlanteans have 2 types of barracks!! viper!!!

Fun fact about this mission: the green Norse enemy has a special lightning storm power that is very similar to the one that Greeks have in all regards except that it can be used infinite many times and it does not stack with itself or any other god powers, so you chain 5 lightning storms in the same place at the same time(that's also how the AI that protects odins tower). I remember when I was young and made myself take control of green, then made the other Norse enemies build up huge combined armies and then defend my base(AI controlled too) with a mega ultra lightning storm that spanned most of the map

I love how constant the battle to save his two fish was when he has like 20 atlantien civilians on upgraded farms lmao

Ah this mission. My favorite strat was building enough for the enemy to not be able to get in, then tower hopping all over the cliffs, until you get line of sight of the temple, then its a simple deconstruction into temple transfer, once all 3 are gone, vortex to odins and kill it

everytime viper says "progress" but what he did is actually going the opposite way.. I didnt go for middle and west guard in all my life playing this mission. BUT NO, viper is greedy and wanna watch the vikings suffer even further by obliterating all of them. im looking forward to next mission in egypt. definitely be great to see viper try to spam against egypt migdol stronghold units without acknowledging how absurd counter barrack bonuses do. this is why I love viper. not lying man

Viper, as a somewhat experienced Atlentean player, I should point out several things. 1- You do not produce enough villagers. As game proceeds and some of your villagers die, you do not make new ones. This makes your economy go lower or not go higher. 2- Making units hero is very expensive. Make your units hero only if enemy has some number of myth units. And hero units take one more population. It should be favored to have 3 archers instead of 2 hero archers. 3- Destroyers are really bad at fighting an army. They are only good against buildings and they can tank arrows. Murmillo & arcus is a better choice than destroyer & arcus. 4- Atlenteans usually have hard time against Norse. Norse units are better than Atlentean units and usually counters them. 5- Best ways to deal with huskarl spam of Norse is cherioballistas and fanatics. Fanatics are trained from Palace at the last age. 3-4 units of cherioballista can shred a bunch of infantry units and cherioballistas are not archers, they are siege weapons :) 6- Mix some counter barracks units to your army if it makes sense i.e. you could mix some counter cavalry unit to your army. Farms are expensive because you build only one farm for a citizen which works 3 times faster than regular villagers :)

@Viper It doesnt matter if you research Blacksmith upgrades, when you are turning your units into heros. They don't benefit from it, since they are already fully upgraded once they are heros afaik. Btw. 200 Wood makes sense since farms always can only be farmed by one vill no matter what civ you play. But one citizen is actually 3 Vills so... one Citizen working on one farm is like 3 Vills working on 3 farms. In Addition I always thought when you run out of Vortex the mission is done you cant win anymore. Seems like the programmers thought of that. What I think: The last vortex that you used had still a programmed cooldown, although you did not see it. When it was over you gained another one, at least I think that's how it worked.

Viper if you click on a unit picture and bring up that page it will tell you what upgrades they are currently benefiting from. - You can see your opponent's eco upgrades by clicking on a vil of theirs. Also. How does it feel to play under Kronos, the titan the entire last campaign had you stopping? And killing the Greeks, Norse and Egyptians? Your trusted allies :)

spends 200 resources/villager and 150 resources/destroyer to get hero units. "Ah i have no resources to make any units!" Brilliant, Viper! NOTE: It's more efficient to make a second unit than to upgrade the first one to hero. Make heroes to kill myth and if you have a stupid amount of resources. Hero villagers are only good for tanking.

I mean 90min Viper video sounds great but when will he realise that "turning each unit to a hero" wont really increase the army strength ( only vs Myth units ) but it destroys his pub and eco xd ? All those hero archus vs huskarls and raiding cav ._. what a waste .. poor men

Use the pegasus given by the relic to scout over the mountain man, instead of mocking it!

Viper, you should have made the counter-cavalry infantry and the counter infantry siege weapon. All they send is Raiders + Jarls + Huscarls. Archers and Myrmidons wont do well here.

Commenting before watching ! On this mission you can towercreep your way to the temples by using the elevated terrains that separate the Norse enemies ! You can almost kill the whole map with towers this way xD Let's see what Biper will do ! (Hopefully outspam the enemies just like on mission 2 hahah)

By clicking on the portrait of a unit, you can see which upgrades currently affect it. For the destroyers and siege weapon upgrade that might be useful.

Don't make atty heroes if you're just fighting regular units. Atty heroes are very exp and perform the worst vs normal units cost effectively. You only need a couple of arcus heroes to snipe myth units. You had gold and favor piled up and could have produced a great deal of promethean meatshields.

Einheriar is Epic sax ancestor. Prevent him to blow his horn man: KILL HIM! Target at first with all hero archers: that's the key (same for giants and other strong miths units: dont let them massacre your human soldiers)!

The pegasus relic he ignored at the beginning could have helped him so much. Also sacrificing his villagers and trade for more pop would have been the right move to maximize an army when getting a foothold with vortex. (also not wasting them woulda been a good idea, lol)

Just grinding in this scenario is extremely difficult. You can beat the scenario by just going on a heist for that Pegasus relic early.

What I love with Viper is that he doesn't give up easily. Many would have quit way before finding the Pegasus relic....

34:32 : you know that you can make a gate on that tiny only passage? I did with 6 towers (2 groups of 3 each side: works very well with archers massed behind, i precise: also on titan level).

The worst that can happen in this scenario: Kastor dies and AI builds a house over his corpse, which causes it to despawn. There is no way to revive him, so you can't win. But you won't lose either.

Should’ve used that Pegasus relic earlier!!! Fly over the temples and skip most of the fighting, just need to build a few towers on the ridges between the areas.

Could’ve lined up towers and palaces at the bay of archers and tried to shift barracks instead of tying to shoot the tower with a bunch of archers.

I actually runned out of the deconstruct power that I had to teleport towers in those cliffs to win xD

Damn I spent hours thinking how to replace temples on top of those mountains I had to watch alot of videos then it came to mind u can also time shift temples

also, you have only fire siphon as a siege engine in age 4 for atlantean, that's the purpose of the upgrade at 35:20

I think in the tribute window, or maybe the diplomacy window there is a list of all players and their godpowers. It also tells you how much you have of a given godpower. If I remember correctly if not then I'm sure I'll get corrected.

TheViper has grown up. He is massing units instead of myth units a he is walling and towering. He knows destroyers are backbone of Atls army. And it took him only first four missions. Its not painfull to watch anymore and with his level of micro hes ready to give hell to real people in multiplayer.

I'm currently doing a Titan difficulty playthough on my AoM game, and while you are certainly the better player of us by a long shot, it's nice to see even a pro need to restart lol

YES. IM EARLY btw. I super love this mission That forest fire took my ass the first time. Thought Im all save since im up against norse civ and they did not teleport like egyptian do with their sand vortex nor with greek underworld passage. So dont feel bad about restarting this map. Not sure why u mass a lot of archers when the enemy keep sending huskarl and raiders tbh. U shld go for cheiroballista instead. Saves u more resources. DONT NEGLECT COUNTER BARRACKS MAN they are good and eventually u will be begging for more in upcoming missions where u were up against atlanteans yourself

alright boss so for the next level, take your starting force and all in the ai to your north theyre the most annoying then all you need is to fortify the main position youre in and get katapeltes arcus and satyrs, once youre in a good spot you can switch to mass destroyers to finish up the level, if you dont deal with at least one of the 3 ai you will be bombarded by 3 separate attacks generally at the same time

I think the scenario gives you 10 uses of vortex, but since it usually only has 3, it displays the full 3 even if you have more, all the way until you go down to 2. I think you can check on the diplomacy screen exactly how many you have, it shows a number on the icon there iirc.

If you tune in from this episode with no context the start cutscene sounds like Kastor is a xenophobe. Invading Norse land and tearing down their churches no reason.
