God of war on PS2. AOM on PC. Thats how I learned about Greek and other ancient Mythologies. San andreas and The History channel is how I learn about Current Mythologies.
*continued from previous comment* This game is a timeless masterpiece...its quite shocking this game doesn't get enough love and popularity..*sigh*..this should probably been the biggest achievement in gaming..at that time...this game is so immersing, its so beautiful,it really sucks you in..ahh nostalgia..I'm no fanboy..and I could say there is hardly any flaw in this game..such a shame they ended the series soo quickly :'(.This game is just..more than a game...
Age Of Mythology...the finest strategy game ever created. Its a real shame we don't get RTS like this anymore..Age Of Mythology was such a huge leap over Age of Empires..it just beats it in every single little way...and its not difficult for me to say that AOM is..the best RTS game in the history of games..yes THE best! :').And also probably one of the finest games in this decade..its just so..wow..its perfect in every way...story,graphics,sound,lore,atmosphere etc. they are all so perfect..
AOM is one of my favourite games ever made, and this trailer and so sick! To this day, I still play Age of Mythology and don't see myself stopping anytime soon ;)
Best game ever....!!!!!!! NOSTALGIA is great here...Need to install it right away and play it cuz it's so awesome....Kids these days will never know how much we played this game
This was my game when I was a kid. My mother originally didn't want to rent it for me because it was T for teen, but a year later she finally rented the gold edition that included the Titan expansion and I was super hooked. I loved the hell out of the game and played it all summer until it had to be returned. Then she got me the base game version and then the titan's expansion version of the game a few years later. Then about 15 after that i bought it on Steam. When. I was a kid I was absolutely horrible at the game. I couldn't get past mission 8 of the base game's campaign and I couldn't hold back the Norse titan in the Titan's campaign. I still had tones of fun though lol. I loved making custom maps, and then as the years went by they got more complex and detailed in their design, scripting, structure and objective. They've all been lost to time but I made some epic maps over the years. :D One thing this video missed is that in mission 6 of the base game's campaign you don't have to build a Trojan Horse if you don't want to. One of the hardest things to do in the campaign because of that's mission's restrictions is to build an angry and siege Troy, just smash face first into those gates! Kill the defenders, destory the three forts and you win the mission, ending cuts cutscenes and all. It's probably the hardest thing in the base game and is super challenging and epic if you can pull it off with the mission's imposed limits, but what makes it extra awesome is that they coded in the fact that to progress to the next mission you just need to destroy the three forts and the mission is counted as a victory in the game's eyes and it's considered completed. Of course it's not as simple as that because the defence of Try is ramped up to 11/10 so not as simple as it sounds lol. The developers probably didn't even think anyone would try to attempt a frontal assault on Troy in mission 6, which is probably why the mission can be attempted like this. By far one of the hardest, coolest and most challenging secret objectives in this game. The Tale of The Dragon Expansion is horrible. The maps are kinda strange and confusing, the units are mostly coppy and paste, the myth units are super meh and dull, the campaign's voice acting is horrible, the cutscenes are terrible, the music is super glitched and either isn't there at all or blasts at 200%, the new music is okay I guess, and that ending mission.... OMG that mission is horrible. You need to climb a spiraling mountain that's got a crazy amount of guards, archers, guard towers and road blocks, and you're constantly being shot at and you have zero chance so it's a massive, slow, boring slog up this spiral mountain, and then it's a super slow, boring, slog defence mission and then after 1-2 hours the cutscene's like "please bring balance to yin and yang!" and the Chinese titan's like "SURE!" and the music blasts at 250% and peace is brought back to the galaxy and the universe or something, I guess? The Chinese faction as a whole is, meh okay. If you guard and put walls around your gardens and properly defined them then it's the most op faction and can progress super quickly. Besides that the rest is super meh and bland...... I guess their thing is being good at defence but Egypt was already doing that. I love the hell out of this game. 20 years later I've since moved on and into many different genres and I've gotten into much more complicated and complex strategy games like Total War Warhammer 3 & its Immortal Empires, but Age of Mythology will always be my starting point for my love of history and strategy. I'd probably be a completely different person if I'd never picked it up. Nostalga wise this game is a 10/10 and still holds up really well in 2024. Hopefuly the remake of the game keeps the cheat codes, map creator mode and all of the charm of the original game.
I remember tpaying this as a kid,and now 9 years later i still like tha game. It just never gets old,and thats the proof that once upon a time games were epic, becouse graphics didn't matter but the gameplay did ! If there were to be an age of mytlology 2 or just a remake,i would totally buy it.
I used to play this at my Uncles whenever we went to his house for a party. I couldn't comprehend how a FPS was to be played at the age I was, but I was an RTS mastermind! I played the campaign the whole way through. I was so young I pronounced campaign campagyin! Lol
Oh my... when that theme tune kicks in makes me shiver! Oh the days when I spent hours as a child playing this game. :> games are not made like these anymore... :(
I played this game at a friend's house for the first time today as Poseidon (always loved Greek Mythology), it's the best RTS I've ever played. It was so fun to run around the map with an army of Hydras.
Whoa.. all of the memories has awaken in me.. my sister's got it on USB from friend and im so happy, because i haven't played since my old computer had broken in 2009
This cinematic is what first person games looked like 3 years after this game. You really see how it is evolving. Starcraft 2 looks like what BF1942 looked like It's hard to explain but I notice it often. Obviously the closer the camera the better it has to look, as in First person < Third Person < RTS < cinematics. Strategy games in 5 years will probably look like GTA IV looks like now.
