I love my little CoS army. This review was very good and comprehensive, thank you Rob. My only issue with the army currently is not knowing how future proof the Elves and Dwarves are. If the reliable rumours are to be believed, then the CoS are getting another major release this edition focused around the Duardin. I don't want to spend money on units, time and resources to paint them, and then have them be retired into Legends come the Spring of 2025. I'll persevere with my humans for now.
Same for everyone and same as last edition, remember GW want to give your opponent buffs if you don't build lists the way GW want you to so awkward power nts probably factor into that. Also this has not been play tested, that's our job, the initial release is always going to have shitty awkward points untill the next update, same happened with 40k bud
@@Tropic_Recon Hmm last the editions had allies and some niche small point cost characters. I personaly doubt that it has not been playtested at all, though the focus was probably on 2000 points. Everything costs more points this edition (which I like) so I guess it is logical that all those 100 point units are in the awkward 110+ range. Let's not talk about 40k friend, nothing good happened there in a while (regarding the gameplay) :D
@@Mensch777 they did have allies.. My chaos chosen and daemon prince for my Blades army are now wasted. But we at home are using the same rules as they were in 3rd .. Also not all the rules are out. We have barely anything. Just basic units and bugger all spells. The rest of the rules, allies, path to glory and everything else will. Come out in time and with books. Alot of people are complaining as if it's the full edition.. Its not its only rules so that we may play the at launch due to their "re - work". You might not want to talk about 40k but the system is similar and GW business structure will apply to both
@@Tropic_Recon Yep, and GW has tested 40k rules with AoS. Locking wargear to box contents? Check. Locking squad numbers to box contents? Check. Free wargear? Check. Get ready for leaders unlocking specific units in 11th edition 40k with weird points costs. Come to think of it, my whole DKoK army will probably get squatted unless they release a $50 DK Marshal blister pack.
One thing I’ve only just noticed about the Relic Envoy; it isn’t extending the range of the Marshall’s order, RAW it allows *any* hero to give an order to that unit, which is an amazing way to get the most of of all of your heroes each round, even the ones not in the action this turn.
Gonna say from the few games ive played hold the line and all out defense on 10 Cavaliers is INSANE to chew through. 2+ 5+ inv is mad this editon being able to move this anvil 10" is Mad
Just commenting on Grizzled Veteran Heroic Trait. Most things that do big hits like Ogors and SoB are wounding on 2s so I think that trait is great when you really need it. It makes that hero great for seeking out Big hitters with a low volumes of attacks.
i will use the Sacred Tome for my Cavalier Marshal, because the model i'm using is Luthor Huss but, the Brazier of Holy Flame, given to the Sorceress, is pretty good
I can't be the only one that misses allies, specially in cities, I had a mix with DoK units, now I might have to build two different dark elves armies lol
Another killer video from big daddy symes. Cites sound chuffing marvelous. Love that there’s some cool aelf stuff in there. And dwarvies. Doesn’t feel like you have to run just all cavaliers and fusiliers. Which is nice.
Thanks. Always like the insight. This one seems interesting that the orders apply from the hero and it seems like there is no restrictions on having orders apply multiple times per unit if you have the heroes. Do you think that is intentional or an oversight? Would love to throw multiple move orders. +3 +3 +3 slam up the table an extra 9" or add even +1 +1 attack for an extra 2.
little note for Thalia Vedra, her rampage being a strong debuff to monsters, makes her a super solid option for counter-charge. Especially if you land that 3 dice charge buff. Nothing like watching some big bad charge into your line, your opponent prolly laid buff on them during their hero phase, decent point investment. Then boom now it has strike last and Thalia already has a strong chance to kill it on her own, but definitely in your favor with the assist from w/e unit you had that was charged.
It feels like manifestations should be made increasingly more difficult to summon each time they're banished / destroyed. Just to dial down their utility somewhat.
58:30 prayers are 'heard' when they 'succeed', but I admit it sounds a bit silly in a game as well. Amazing work Rob... yet... it's hard being normal men in the hobby! Stahl_Ernst
Strap in all its a big book but so much fun stuff. Personally I'm working on my combined Human, Dwarfs and Dark Elves list. Love the analysis and the video you sir are a beast and credit to the community. Dark Riders, bleakswords and Executioners are back and oooh those tasty dwarf hammerers. Only question is do i pick up gw hammerers or go 3d printed their are some pretty tasty prints out there.
Okay so I've tested a combined list. I found humans are best for shooting due to their range and the amount of durability their shooting line gives so you don't need to give them a screen. Duardin are really good at holding a line and pushing forward especially the hammerers. As for the aelfs, dark riders are great for battle tactics and a sorceress with black guard make a good front line unit.
Hi, I'm a 40k playing thinking about getting an age of sigmar army. I know almost nothing about age of sigmar but I think the city of sigmar range is amazing! If possible what are your thoughts of this 2k list. 1x Dahlia verdra 310 1x Free guild cavalier HQ 170 10 x2 freeguild steelhelms 200 10 x3 freeguild fusiliers 360 5 x2 freeguild Cavaliers 340 2x ironweld great cannons 260 2x fusil- major on ogor 360 2000
So are dispossessed not getting squated then? I love the look of the old dwarfs but haven't committed to a cities of sigmar army because I'm afraid the second I do GW will discontinue them. Also I though since they put dwarfs back into the old world that meant no sigmar.
I have yet to see a Cities list on YT bat reps that weren't 100% Freeguild. I think they took out the attractive synergies for the Duardin and Aelf lists to the point that the next book (4.1, w/e) will only have Freeguild in it. At that point, why call them Cities of Sigmar anymore. It's also like, do you really think they are going to come out with new Duardin and DE models? They're impossible to get, expensive, and new players aren't going to buy them if they aren't as powerful as the Freeguild units are. Cities 4.0 is just Empire Reborn and should be named accordingly.
Love these videos but each day that I see one for a faction I'm not interested in, I die a little inside. Can't wait for some points discussion now that the app is out. I'm curious if you think overall army size is going down in 4th. I was shocked how quickly I got to 2k points today while list building. Maybe it's a cost increase or the necessity of heroes for regiments.
Can you stack multiple instances of +1 to hit/wound in AoS4? For example, getting fusiliers with +2 to hit from the prayer and the fusil majors ability? Or is it capped at a net +1?
I hate the Freeguild Command Core the same way Khorne hates Unicorns casting rainbow spells. When ever I need to keep track of which models have a certain weapon my eyes glaze over. I know this is unpopular but i wish it was split into 5 heroes.
I agree that having so many different weapons in a single unit is a headache. But in 3.0 every single character had a unique ability as well that you could only use if the model was still alive and keeping track of that was more of a migraine. I am not sure if splitting the unit into heroes is the right move in this edition or in general as it bloats the amount of hero models quite a bit.
@@Mensch777 Good thought, but don’t make them heroes. They can be individual units who support a unit, e.g. the doctor can heal one unit, the mage can buff another, the duelist can go after an enemy hero, etc. They don’t do this because it allows players to kitbash their own guys rather than buy the box to have a unit. They want us buying models, not having interesting play styles.
@@Fortunes.Fool. That would be fun to be able to add these into your Steelhealm units. Honestly that seems a bit far fetched as GW loves to sell and produce single miniatures as they can sell them for 30€ a piece. I think this was an honest (and pretty good) attempt at creating a command squad unit that also captures the new "feel" of the normal humans and their culture.
Started citys in3.0 after plaing slaves for 2 years. In 4.i dont feel them only how they look and theme of the normal duds. Command Cor feels like a wast. Talia the same. Cavaliers not a hammer anymore in a Edition wher -1 to hit and wound are often in the armys. Gw wants to sell you elfs and dwarfs that will go to old world at some point. Points feel out of place for a lot of units.
@@thehonestwargamerstreams i will test citys out on Saturday. I am happy to be wrong and will be abel to dive into the faction again like at the release. Ty for the content as always. 👍
I was really excited for 4th and what it could do for my 'count as Araby CoS' & Tarantulos brood themed cult S2D. 4.0 has more or less shattered all of my very conversion/ sculpt heavy army projects. For CoS, the hero tax is heavy on my list. While garbage, I still want to adhere to a tight list that min/max units for maximum conversions, & unit diversity that represents an overview of a whole army. I feel like everything across all armies are lacking and more flavor for battlescrolls + new ones will be added once 4.0 books stop dropping. Really sad to see CoS have lost ability to take any CoS since they have traditionally relied on them. Would be nice to see an option for them to take x points for a single formation drop.
@@martinjrgensen8234 It is not that the list was amazing, that was never the point. It was the freedom that enabled a range of units that could be converted to fit a theme.
cities right now is beyond one of the most broken armies in the game, executioners, fusiliers, being able to hand out -1 attacks and degrading multiple unit's to hit and to wound for dirt cheap, Im looking at my poor chaos warriors and the fact they went UP in price and also lost almost ALL their rules makes me weep, who's brilliant idea was it to make cities one of the most mortal wound spammy armies in the games history and then go "We should also remove chaos rune shields that offer a little bit of prot AND raise their points cost" is just downright idiotic.
