I mean this just feels like GW all over. Rules that are so over-written and over-complicated their almost completely impossible to understand when the actual solution is actually just really simple.
It could be a simple regional push to foster consumers on the market. Such decisions can be made for a variety of reasons, E.G.: They don't have any more ad budget for the region but they can offer products, maybe they see potential on the market and doing this can see the market grow in the future, maybe it's a simple mixup and they decided to make the most of it. Tough to say if it is underselling just yet, and only they have the numbers anyways. But if I were a betting man, I would say its an effort to see the regional market grow. If it were happening across the globe, then it would be a different story.
I I understand what GW tries to do here (it is though a problem in game design that SBG take 2-3 times the time to play as gargants, while other board games make efforts to keep the same economy of actions across players),. I was very happy with how this casual feeling turned out in Warhammerfest. On the other hand, it makes no sense to forbid two players to use a clock if they both agree in an event like Warhammer Worlds.
Last year I flew from the states to Manchester to play in Warhammer fest. I got slow played by my opponent and finished the game at the top of round 3. I reported missed milestones many times. I played an all melee army against a ranged army. I took vacation, crossed an ocean, paid for hotel and entry into the tournament, won 4 rounds prior, to essentially only get 2 movement phases in and be told sorry your opponent was slow you’ve lost the game. The milestone system is great for new tournament players but for competitive players is abused by sweaty neckbeard power gamers.
'3.3.3.1 "Clocked" Status' gave me a laugh. Using a chess clock? Obviously inappropriate. Yuck. Writing a sub-sub-sub-chapter explaining the "clocked" player status effect? Totally normal and appropriate.
So…..if you play against someone who has a clocked status higher than you, you’re incentivized to purposely clock them because you know that you get more time. This seems easily exploitable and a way to purposely force other players into less time, especially in later rounds.
I can fully picture it. At GW HQ some higher up decided to end chessclocks because he doesnt like them. So he puts together a group of people to do this. And despite the many many objections he got. He still said: "Do it anyway!! Make it happen! At all costs!" And noone told him what a stupid c*nt he was 😂
My brain is an omelette after a 3-4 hour casual game. 7 hours might actually put me in a mental hospital. It's shit like this that keeps me away from competitive.
At my LGS they tried to get them to buy 40 boxes but the owner got shafted on the 3rd edition box so they only ordered 20. I think there are still 2-3 left on the shelves.
I’m really struggling to think of something, anything, that rivals this in terms of convoluted, absurdity. Either someone is terrified of clocks unless completely necessary OR they’re just really against a logical system that works for everyone else because they can’t copyright it as their own system. It so bad it’s hilarious though and this video made me laugh.
I'm against clocks, but sometimes are necessary. Sincerely i've seen more opponents with small amount of pieces and abilities use much more time. The real way to cut ti,es should be digital, dice throwing, it save tones of time
This has been Brandts opinion on clocks for years. Milestones is the nova method and it’s incredibly easy to exploit. This document is a bit insane and shows where rules are going wrong 😅 What they did at Nova this year is some of the top players would stall the game until they missed milestones and then would call a judge to then get equal time. It’s absurd.
I heard that players are allowed to bring their own clocks to the tournaments, BUT... they have to have a box to keep their clock in until it’s properly calibrated by GW staff. So, basically, the players have to keep their clocks in their drawers until the designated official comes around to measure their clocks.
14:16 Something to note about this though is that with Wildform gone from it the banishment makes it easier to remove as instead of doing damage it will delete it now.
@@thehonestwargamerstreamsdeleted previous comment, misread something in the update. Thought Krondspine lost it as well, which would make these changes more important to armies that run that.
The sarcasm is strong with this one! This sounds like it was written by a lawyer who has never played a game. I think that is the sort of thing that puts people off tournaments
@@thehonestwargamerstreams yeah of course, I'd love to come up to one of your events one day cos it sounds ace, but when the big boys at GeeDubs are putting out rules like this... gives a bad vibe to people thinking about getting into the event scene
I prefer tournaments that give a bit more, 3,5 h games. It leaves a bit more room for having casual conversations, have fun and so on, without sacrificing trying to win tournament / taking it serrious.
I think they fear Khorne for some reason. Maybe in the test plays of AOS 4.0, their units were much cheaper and obliterated everything with cheaper bloodthisters (like 380 points or so), and they got a reputation for being feared. I don't know, but it's one of the worst armies right now. It has above-average faction rules and some good warscrolls, but it's massively overcosted. For comparison, we had Skullcrushers at 250 points, but for just 70 more points, you could get Varanguard. The two are not even close. You have Skullreapers at 220 points (44 each), while Gluttons, even after the nerf, are 41.3 points each. Gluttons don't have critical mortal wounds and have a save that's 1 point less, but they have 1 more wound, wound on 2, move 2" more, have objective control 2 or even 3 each, can easily run and charge, and have a musician, etc. Skullreapers lose in all aspects and are more expensive too. I saw Khorne on BCP the other day to see how the army is doing (because I'm playing Nurgle in AOS 4.0, but I have all Chaos armies). Well, it's the only army that can't find a single 5/5 event win. No one from July to today. It's pretty brutal. My hypothesis is that they just have fear because Blades of Khorne performed so well in testing, and they increased the points or maybe cut some rules. I don't know. Anyway, the might have his numbers too... is pretty easy to see... i sent an email to GW after the point changes, for the next one...
To be honest youncan't penslize someone who play a more complex army forcing him to play hasty and maybe doing error to keep pace with chess clock. some army need more time than other and giving split time is unfair.
@@thehonestwargamerstreams as goblin player i Will Say thx God we have troll that are Op.because of i have play squig i Will love all my game tonthe clock Just because the ammount of dice i have tò roll every time 20 squig fight
@@YuriGualeri-t5qmore like you have a skill issue if you can't get used to playing a horde army that you chose to participate in the tournament with in a timely manner

Maybe the intent is that during the game the Time Management staff walk through the venue with a gong, calling out the time? 🤔
The entire purpose of any tabletop game is to have fun, an even nunber of turns is the correct way to play, being an anal twat about measuring the time to as close as possible the amount of time for each player to spend on their turn only puts pressure on armies that are constructed to provide easy decisions rather than amy thought. If it takes someone with 100 models longer to decide where to move their units than someone who has 20 models then fair enough.
Hey, what you've done is say that asking for an equal amount of time makes someone a twat and that bringing a complex army you can't play equally is ok and not selfish. Take some time to think that through
@@thehonestwargamerstreams wrong try again, what i am saying is that if you enforce a fixed amount of time you are deliberately putting unnecessary pressure on those armies that require longer to do things because of the number of models and complexity of the rules they have, as you are saying if they take to long they are forced to skip to the end of that phase or end of turn. If you do not enforce an equal amount or fixed time through the use of clocks etc then both sides can take as long as they need to make a decision. Which admittedly is an inherent issue with tournaments and victory points because then you need a cut off point for someone who is currently winning so deliberately wastes time to run the clock down so they win. I personally avoid tournaments both due to I seriously struggle to think if therez a lot of mid geound talking and the half dozen or so tournaments i have been to and the majority of people playing were horrible human beings. I know tournament players arnt all like that, but thats my experience. Which is why i favour casual play over tournament play. The most fun you can have with 8th, 9th or 10th ed 40k is scrap the mission and play a tabletop mini game instead of filing your strat cards into your next dick over your opponent combo. Its so much more fun to build your own narrative with your opponent.
