Hello everyone and happy birthday to Age of Wonders 4! For the game's first anniversary, Triumph is releasing a small update that I cover at 1:48 introducing the much requested basic and exotic raptor mounts and a lovely draconic UI, but the greatest gift was a simple vague announcement starting at 2:32: more is coming after the Eldritch Realms, which also got the loose release date of June. I'm excited to see what the future brings, but I can say with absolutely certainty that I'll be there no matter what it may be. Thanks for watching and for being here!
one thing i hope they add is the ability to have a caste like system. Where you could have your leader's race as the dominant one, while utilizing a "Lesser" race. The dominant one being the more elite units and heroes. Like the Skeksis and the gelflings of the Dark Crystal series
Yeah, this exactly, a common fantasy race I've seen is the "reptile/amphibian swampdwellers" faction which can have frogmen, lizardmen, turtlemen, etc and id love to recreate it in AoW4 with frogmen ranged and skirmishers and Lizard/gatormen heavy infantry
@@wolfshanze5980 I mean kind of. But it is not a Skeksi and Gelfling relationship. As there is the Emperor of the Skeksi, but also his other Skeksi servants above the gelfling. Your wizard king does not bring their race as heroes.
Adept Settlers is the best society trait in the game, and a bit on the overpowered side. First off, you get one free Expanded Governance (200 Imperium), and then each subsequent Expanded Governance costs 25% less. You're going to be clicking it 2-3 times per playthrough on average, and the cost increases by 300 with each click, so that 25% discount translates to (500+800+1100)*0.25=600 imperium per game. That's a total of 800 free Imperium, the most sought after and valuable resource in the game.
Really happy with getting a new season of DLC for AoW4. Not sure if this is due to Paradox' influence, as Planetfall only got 1 year worth of DLC. It's just as likely that Triumph themselves want to continue to build upon the incredibly solid framework they've created.
Tome of evocation gives Storm elemental (easy t3 evolution), the only way to buff battlemages, lightning cast spell (pretty good one, btw) and conduit for casting points.
That is great news! My favourite game ever was Civ 6, but since I started playing AOW4 about a month ago, I see more and more things that might dethrone CIV. AOW4 seems like the perfect mix of Civilization and Heroes of Might and Magic! Glad to see more content coming (free and premium), since so far I liked all DLC (which is rarely the case, even CIV was hit and miss).
Would appreciate an 'immersion mode' that gives identity, lore, and corresponding restrictions to each race. I would like this as an official optional mode rather than an non-canon mod. When you look up the steam discussions, the lack of this is the number one complaint about this game from the very beginning. You'll see the phrase "races are just skins" come up over and over, and it's a valid criticism IMO.
I've got the dragon UI but i dont see the raptor mounts. Anyone has an idea? Mod conflict maybe? Edit: Exotic mounts mod conflicts with the patch sadly.
I think I was trying to stifle a burp - no judgment here! The only unexpected thing about the difficulties was that I expected Normal to be more than 30%.
Funny to see that you think everyone picks tomes/cultures etc for their strengths. I play this game to try everything out, something different every time. Do so many people really play games like this and pick teh same thing every time because it's powerful?
Guides are popular because people want to know what's strong. I also enjoy trying out different combos and strats, but gamers have a strong tendency to min-max, myself included. It's no coincidence that the things in this list also happened to be incredibly powerful, although some have been nerfed over the patches like the Tome of Enchantment.
My favorite part is definitely the limitless roleplay potential. While a part of me does miss the very well defined fantasy roles of the races in Age of Wonders 3, the mixing and mashing has lead to many fun ideas and incredible playthroughs. 😊
