The way I saw it is, the Giant is obviously very powerful, he pulled Coop into a conversation with him to warn him "You are far away" he's in the black lodge, he's Dougie Jones, he's got a long way to go The sounds are played right before the timeline changes, its as if someone or something is scratching Laura out of the show, because then what does she do? She screams and disappears
It actually sounds like it says " what year is this?" If you listen closely. It also is heard again at that same time they go back to the palmer house, the last scene
That sound is Judy's. That's why Fireman says "it's in our home, it's cannot be said aloud now" just as Philip says "we're not gonna talk about Judy." None of these entities want to address her. Maybe she learns and listens. The sound in the woods is Judy taking and killing Laura again. Cooper cannot stop it, even with BOB removed. Judy wants Laura dead.
White Lodge a white hole putting matter and energy into our universe, the black Lodge a black hole taking out of our universe. The person's, events, and emotions are the information making it's way through, the information we think the holes destroy.
