I want to think that the reason why Vader left the minister in the hands of Commander Trawn is not because of recognition of a chain of command because in that case he would be the highest in the empire being the right hand of the emperor but rather because he knows there would be a difference in the impact of who kills her. If Vader kills her it wouldn't be a big deal, possibly they would just put her in another victim of some of Vader's whims . But if Trawn kills her, it becomes clear what happens to those who are inefficien I also feel that the minister was more likely to be a spy for the rebellion. Not that she was, but I feel that even to the viewer she was shouting "I'm the spy."
Ngl I actually really like this version of Vader, he's the perfect combination of menacing, mysterious, tactful and dramatic. I also find his mannerisms, attitude and overall persona much more similar to that of Anakin, now much easier to see them as the same person then the Vader from the originals.
@@redalert923yes, but at times the mannerisms and overall character of Vader is seen so distant from Anakin. Granted decades of experience as well as pain and suffering probably changed him into the person he became in the original movies, but the gap was still there. Rebels provided us with a sort of middle ground between the two iterations of the character
@@Brother_O4TS Hux is fine. Somehow people got the impression that he was supposed to be a good guy but he wasn't. This is pretty strange because not only was it clearly stated in the movie but that line of dialogue became a pretty popular meme. "I don't care if you win I just want Klo Ren to lose"
@@Dendricklystable No, the problem is there was no build up to him being a spy and no clear motive to being one on the first place, just "I hate my boss so I'll sabotage the very order I put my life in Hur dur". Kallus meanwhile got to have a conversation with a rebel, when they were stuck on an ice planet, to see their side and he wasn't even saved by the Empire. He got picked up by a merchant vessel and dropped off at the nearest Imperial station. He wasn't even acknowledged by Admiral Constantine when he got back to the fleet. That's where he realized the Empire didn't care about it's people, just what they brought to the table. And plenty of people hate their superiors. One great example is Oston Krennic. Tarkin took all credit for the Death Star but you don't see Krennic going the same route as Hux. Loyal till the end
@@Brother_O4TS Krennic did in fact go the same direction as Hux. It's a pretty well established that imperial officers would infight a lot and sabotage each other for greater gain because that's the culture Palpatine built. You can even see it in this very show in season 1 where cheating is practically encouraged at the academy Ezra goes to. This is why the empire ultimately failed and why you have idiots like Hux whi get into top positions
As much as we all love seeing Vader go in Lightsaber a blaze, it’s also great to see the military side of him. Making strategic commands to bring his opponents to him.
There's a reason he's supreme commander of the entire imperial military (I don't care if canon says he's not, he will always have the title in my point of view)
Like his insanity as Vader is as fresh as it is raw with the anger. By the OT Vaders kind of like a little laid back and more docile but still the rage remains
I actually feel kind of sorry for Minister Tua. She was right- she's only a public official. Dealing with the rebels was Pryce's job, not hers. They were literally blaming her for something she's not qualified or trained to handle and lumping on her a job that was above her pay grade. They should have brought Pryce back from wherever and harrassed her about the rebels, why she's not doing anything about it, and why she's leaving her responsibilities with someone unqualified. But I guess if the Empire did that it wouldn't have been such a shit show and could have been a semi-functional regime
I absolutely agree. The Imperial hierarchy was a seething mass of rivalry and incompetence. It was not uncommon for subordinates to frame their officers in an attempt to usurp their positions to gain better accommodation for themselves. Minister Tua really is not qualified to deal with this insurgency which the Moffs really ought to be dealing with themselves. It seemed to me that they were merely opting to use her as a scapegoat.
@@isaacio8924 when you think about it as well, Minister Tua actually seems like one of the competent ones anyhow- she knows what the scope of her job and training is and admits readily when something is beyond her capabilities. If Vader and Kallus had any sense they would have been rewarding that in some way while handling the situation themselves
It’s not that per se, it’s the fact by reporting to Tarkin, he’ll likely sentence her to death and use her as an example Vader would just kill her, but used her fear for her life as bait for the Rebels in his nearly successful trap
Kallus hadn't defected at this point and seemed to respect Vader. I believe he also blamed the rebels for Tau's death at first. He didn't have anything to hide at the time. Had Vader checked in a few months later though, he probably would have picked up on his confliction.
James Earl Jones didn't voice Mufasa in Lion Guard I thought Jeremy Irons should of voiced Scar in the Lion Guard but would of been okay with Jim Cummings or Jason Issac
Interesting how Kallus seems more cruel and heartless when around Vader, either due to the corrupting effect of the Dark Side, or because Vader is just that much of a boss-ass b*tch.
You know how you work harder when your boss is around? Now imagine your boss has the authority and capability to slow kill you if they even suspected you were slacking😆
@@thelegosmithy161 wasn’t it also that Sidious purposely kept Vader’s suit more flawed than needed to both as a security measure to keep Vader weaker and to trigger more pain to his connection to the dark side strong?
@@Wolf-wc1js I don't believe so... in a matter of fact, I think Palpatine expects and counts on Vader to turn against him. I think Palpatine does so just to prepare Vader to peak when the time comes.
The difference isn’t the brutality. Both were focused on war. Rebels went straight in to AfganiVietnam. Is Saw a real hero or self deluded maniac that’s going to cause mass death? That’s adult as it gets.
@@insaniam_convertunt_scientiam Wrong. Rebels is clearly playing it too safe. Clone wars has people getting shot, stabbed, blown up... And that's just off the top of my head.
Maybe one of the reasons why the Empire screws up so much is that they seem to foster off responsibility to random officials instead of trained professionals. They have the civic minister responsible for counter intelligence, and before that had the head of their military academy chasing rebels instead of a taskforce or the like.
Pryce wise, then yes, but Thrawn? It was his incompetent underlings that screwed him over, not Thrawn himself, mate. Pryce was far too arrogant and costed Thrawn his TIE Defender project.
Minister Tua was lucky Anakin unlike most of these of force users actually got laid before or he would've killed her just like he casually kills male officials in the Empire who mess up lol.
@@Gojirawars03 I don't really get how people like the show can you tell me why you like it because I didn't, I respect your opinion tho And the best disney star wars has gotta be Rogue One
@@Yo-dz2ss Agreed only The Clone wars characters make It barely watchable but the Rebels characters just sucks except Kanan also the Animation really is garbage
Tbh Vader only appears in season 2, this is because the rebellion was being formed but progress was halted because Vader and his inquisitors are hunting surviving Jedi and believe Kanan, Ezra, and Ahsoka have a lead which they needed. Plus mana and Ezra are Jedi themselves so, yeah.
Just goes to show how cruel and cold Kallus was before he changed sides. He was your typical vicious Imperial officer who would manipulate and crush anyone to get ahead. Kinda makes you wonder why he eventually became a Rebel. I get it: he felt a bit lonely after being stranded on that planet with Zeb. Thing is that Kallus, like most Imperials, was never a sentimental type before then. It is odd that suddenly changed.
I could never get into Rebels, wayyyyy too many filler episodes compared to how many filler episodes were in Clone Wars, but I love the Vader scenes in Rebels.
Wasnt Vader supposed to be a mysterious guy only the high ranking imps from the council in Ep4 knew about and not some low level bureaucrats? He feels very out of place here.
This version of Vader is too watered down for kids. I agree with others in the comments about the animation and designs of the characters. Look lousy plus I don't care for the wooden look of the facial hair. Looks like wood tile for a house
Wtf? Why is the political science major allowed to have a whole 2 minute debate and then try to weasel out like she’s trying to fast talk her manager at mcdonalds. Lady, this is vader. “I find you’re lack the of faith disturbing” Vader
Im so triggered by the ugly rebels animations. Look at vaders helmet. This thing that hangs between his eyes. It’s not even close to the real helmet. And these ugly lightsabers. 🤮
Makes Vader look so weak and less intimidating that he didn’t just force choke her but is going to let an old guy who apparently is even more intimidating than him talk to her? Completely weakens Vader and makes him less scary. Tarkin should be saying you’re going to be speaking with lord Vader because that’s literally a deth sentence. And makes Vader seem like an executioner who’s more intimidating.
@TheBlackDragonKnight There was a comic where an Imperial officer fought alongside Vader after an assassination attempt on Palpatine. He helped retake Coruscant. He idolized Vader. Palpatine mentioned as being an equal or something and then Vader killed him.
When Vader says “The compassion of the Rebels is a weakness” at 2:00 is almost the exact same thing that Grievous said about the Jedi during the Clone Wars.
@@ryanfarrelly4647That was pretty much the whole reason George made a separate new evil apprentice in every prequel. Each one was a different facet of Darth Vader. Maul: Apprentice to Sidious Dooku: Fallen Jedi Grievous: Cyborg
@@bowenorcutt78It also kinda highlights how similar Dooku and Anakin really were, and how they both went down the same road. Dooku originally joined Palpatine because he genuinely felt the Republic and Jedi were failing, and to get him on his side, Palpatine had promised Qui-Gon's safety. By the time that promise was broken, he felt he couldn't turn back. Sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it?
Wouldn't you just looooove to be there and right before something bad was going to happen to any imperial officer or official you just say to them, "Still think the Empire is better than the Republic was?"
Keep in mind that this more then likely one year before a new hope , Vader still believes that his children are dead . So his still fully immersed in the dark side .
Actually, this is within the first season of Rebels and it was clearly stated to be the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Empire so there's still a little over 4 years till A New Hope.
Non sensitives like Kallus have far less presence in the Force, so Vader would at best perceive his discomfort unless actively penetrating his mind. Not that Alexsandr was even planning to betray the Empire at that point. I have the strong feeling Anakin didn't really care about Lothar, even with a runaway Jedi involved. Once his job is done, he leaves the storyline and doesn't bother returning. That, or the Emperor ordered him to back down and let the Inquisitors do their job.
Can we talk about how shit the character animations are in this show? Every time someone speaks or gestures, they have to make those big flowy movements. Characters don't walk down the hallway, they glide. Everything happens at a steady, unchanging pace. It's so... artificial.
