Bruh I remember when the homie played this song at the skate park. It hyped me up so much that I tried 360 flipping an 11 stair set and broke my ankle.
I feel that I was listening to Battery by Metallica while skating and damn near broke my whole tooth at the gum line I was manually a great distances from the entrance of a parking garage to the exit hella fast just going with the music
Same. I can't even count how many times I saw Agent Orange. Small clubs like the Cathay de Grande, or the Anti Club. Going to see them at the Olympic Aud, or Fenders... Perkins Palace. Such a life we had back then.
Agent Orange was the first punk band of any kind from outside of Hawaii to play in Hawaii. December 1982 at the 3D club in Waikiki. Somehow our friend Jonee Kop knew the singer/guitar player Mike. We all went skateboarding with Mike at our local spot Wallos. He said he would put us on the guest list for the first show. But then the club wanted IDs for people on the guest list. We were only 17 years old, and at that time you had to be 18 to drink and go to clubs. Mike said don't worry, just show up. The night of the show Mike and the drummer Scott (?) opened a side door and let us sneak in. Great show
My people did have a lot to do with it but it's also greek too and goes back to the dorian times. In modern times, we had flamenco players that did this stuff. Or more well known people like say Django Reinhardt and Les Paul.
Just recently started listening to agent orange. Like literally within the past 5 minutes. So I get to this one and realize my early teens was partly shaped by this song. I played thps4 religiously when it dropped. So this song is forever burned in my memory. Im happy for it.
God, I just can't get enough of this guitar solo. One of the best in Punk history, let alone the greatness of the entire song. It's fucking great, man.
"They can make things worse for me, sometimes I'd rather die!" How ever many years later, that line still fuels me. Thanks agent Orange for a bitchin endless summer
they can't make things worse for me sometimes i'd rather die they can tell me lots of things but i can't see eye to eye i know they know the way i think i know they always will someday i'm gonna change my mind sometimes i'd rather kill bloodstains speed kills fast cars cheap thrills rich girls fine wine i lost my sense, i lost control, i lost my mind things seem so much different now the scene has died away i haven't got a steady job and i got no place to stay it's a futuristic modern world things ain't what they seem some day you're gonna wake up from this stupid fantasy
This was one of my favorite bands when I was a kid. Still is! I love this song! Sing it in my head all the time! “I’ve lost my sense, I’ve lost control, I’ve lost my mind!”
Im 30 years old and i still skateboard. Not everyday like I used to, but I still jam out. Not as big and hard as i used to either, one broken foot and 2 surgeries later makes things interesting. My knees also hate me a lot. Thats nothing that some beer and girls didnt fix though. I used to be a go big or go home kinda kid and now I have to try and do technical shit. Still fun, this song still gets blared from my stereo driving from spot to spot. Getting older sucks but my skateboard is my BFF.
SkateVisions skate video 1984!!! This was my life in Miami during the 80's. Soundtrack of my youth when skating was a crime. Can't wait to see Agent Orange in VA Beach or Raleigh this year.
Anyone else here because these guys claimed The Offspring stole the famous riff in Come Out and Play from this song? I have no particular love for The Offspring and I was fully prepared to side with Agent Orange, but after hearing BloodStains, it's pretty obvious such a claim is ridiculous. There's a faint similarity between the solo here and the riff in Come Out and Play, but no way would any jury ever agree with a claim of copyright infringement. Maybe that's why Agent Orange never actually sued The Offspring. This is a great song though.
Joey Rollins Silly me, wanting to have a meaningful discussion in the comments section of a RU-vid video. Joey, since you're the only one who bothered to write a remotely coherent response, I'll reply to you. Do you mean the solo towards the end? Like I said, there is a noticeable similarity between the solo and the riff in Come Out and Play, but would you really claim that it is anywhere near identical?
They just sound similar as based on a middle eastern scale, sorry I don't know the name but someone that knows about music theory etc would be able to tell us.
TSOL and Agent Orange were very influential on Noodles of the Offspring's guitar stylings. There are similarities on the lead and "Come out and play" but I don't think it's a direct total rip off. Just my opinion. Noodle's should get Mike Palm some free guitars and amps sponsorships for the inspirations though.
Mike Walsham Green Day is actually pretty good, at least the first few albums. I can see why so many people don’t like their newer stuff though, it’s not very punk.
+Barry Kuz Nah, Minor Threat is not overrated at all. They formed an entire movement basically, and their music is still pretty influential. I'll admit though, I am biased. I grew up around the D.C. Metropolitan area and did experience a lot of Hardcore from it, but I would say that it is hard to really judge if you haven't actually experienced them in person.
+Daniel Medina that band started a counter culture to the counter culture. Ian lyrics are simplistic and brilliant, all written before the age of 20. Not to mention all the bands that they inspired, released and brought attention to, all the while being key factors to the creation of the DC punk scene, which wouldn't have even had a venue to play at or see out of town acts without minor threat. All the while living the DIY lifestyle to the fullest inspiring others to do the same. Overrated isn't exactly the term I would use.
I saw them on a tour sometime in the early 90's- 92/93. I think it was at the Weathered Wall in Seattle. I remember we broke the rule of listening to the band on the way to the show.
I initially found and cleaned that pool after the fires, lived down the street next Allen Sarlo’s pad. Used to back my truck up to it and play this album while sk8ing it🤙..an era gone
