Hate that ABC shenanigans (the network wanted a spin-off called Marvel’s Most Wanted starring Bobbi and Hunter which never ended up happening) led to this episode. But at the same time this is undoubtedly an emotional high point for the show, and full props to the writers for managing to craft such a powerful send-off for Hunter and Bobbi. The Spy’s Goodbye scene at the end always gets to me, the combination of the acting by the cast and Bear McCreary’s score just always makes me emotional.
I think they started to film a pilot, but not sure if it was cancelled mid filming or after filming had concluded. I know there were some filming done for the pilot.
I wish shows took this route more often. There's a way to make characters leaving the narrative emotional without it having to be a character's death, and the spies goodbye here proves that. It's just about good writing and good acting! Character deaths tend to be the easy and lazy way out sometimes, in my opinion anyways.
I like to think that the agent watching them can also recognize the spy's goodbye and chose to turn a blind eye to it happening out of respect, since he also presumably operates with the "if things go wrong you will be disavowed" protocol
"Spy's Goodbye" will always hit SO HARD. But, there are some good laughs from Hunter (love a shroom soup) and some kickass Mockingbird moments. They chose to be the shield... protecting SHIELD 😭
To be continued in the spin-off series *Marvel's Most Wanted (2016).* Starring Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse, Nick Blood as Lance Hunter, Delroy Lindo as Dominic Fortune, Fernanda Andrade as Christina Santos, and Oded Fehr in an unspecified role. Except... while the Pilot was filmed, it was never aired and the series was never picked up. And the Pilot seemingly will never see the light of day. But that was the intent, that the characters were getting their own spin-off, it just ended up not happening.
@@kennethsmith6367 same 100%. there's more characters that are funny don't get me wrong but the way Hunter always said the most out of pocket stuff in the tone he says it in is perfection.
There was supposed to be a spinoff of agents of shield (called Marvel's most wanted I think), and it would be about Bobby and hunter's adventures afterwards, but unfortunately it didn't get made.
Hard to say whether the spy community or the entertainment community has more drama, backstabbing and unpredictability. Still I respect that they had to trim the cast back with the number of new Inhumans being recruited into SHIELD, and this is a good way to do it without killing them off. The good guys don't always win, and stopping нуб сайбот from killing the Prime Minister exacted a terrible price.
Yeah same, even tho I knew they were alive and well it was so sad to lose them as characters, Bobby was always okay but Hunter cracked us up a lot. When I watched the episode I think I cried a bit too
Knowing a little of what was coming when I first watched, I was sad but didn't think I'd cry... And I was wrong. 😭 And it's still weird to me to see Bethany Joy Lenz in AoS, because she's forever Haley from One Tree Hill to me.
[No Spoilers!] 😭 _*THE SPY'S GOODBYE!*_😭 *... When Big Mack cries: EVERYONE cries! (Plus: I really love what Bear McCreary did with the score during that scene! Just like with Daisy's theme, there's an emptiness between each note that lingers...). And, yes: It is a little obvious. However, since none of them directly approached or interacted directly with Hunter or Bobbi, they all have Plausible Deniability: "No, Mr. Government Agent, sir! I wasn't saluting former agents Morse and Hunter: I was lifting a glass to my favorite football team on the TV screen."* *Infamously, Hunter and Bobbi were written out of the series because they were going to be the stars of their own Series: Marvel's Most Wanted. Unfortunately, the TV studio execs killed the series before the pilot could air (I think it was even cancelled before the pilot was done shooting!). Idiotic Studio Politics!* 24:06 - *Hey! That's how "Being part of a cult" sounds like: When it doesn't matter, they know everything! As soon as you ask them for accountability: "Whoa! I don't know what I said!... I didn't say nothing!.... You're a very nasty person to ask me these questions!... Interview's over!"* 🤪🤪🤣
Big mistake to dismiss these two absolute fan favorites from the series. This was done because the two were originally supposed to get a spin off, because they were so popular, but it never came. What a waste. Will they come back? Who knows.
Fun fact, iirc Chloe Bennet (Daisy) is of the opinion that her "Russian hacker ex" is a woman. Chloe also fully believes that Daisy is bisexual and has dated women
The 2 characters were slated to get their own spinoff show. ABC later decided not to move forward with the spinoff. By that point, they'd already been written out of AoS. Not a fan of this episode. Not so much because of the character exits, but because of the narrative flow. Much of the episode feels forced but in an overly round about way just to get to where they needed it to go. Generally, the writing of the show is second to none. Feels liked they dropped the ball on this one.
I'm a proud member of the "Hunter Sucks Club", so I was thrilled to see him go. Losing Bobbi wasn't fun, but that was the problem with S3 imo: too much focus on setting up other shows like "Most Wanted" & "Inhumans", instead of focusing on AOS. This was the reason we had that ridiculous beginning of S3 with Hunter & Hunter not talking after they were about to quit together at the end of S2. "Most Wanted" was first proposed then & it was shot down there too. I am way more a Tripp & Hartley fan than I ever was Hunter & Bobbi, so that is the fire behind my hot take admittedly ✌😎
