Debbie, I just made my appointment with Agile for rip kit on my 2021 Ascent. Because of you I’ve learned so much and I love using my PW as my office. I’ll be heading to California from Seattle. Great timing as I can visit with my family and work as well. Thank you for all these videos and such great lessons. I appreciate you immensely. 🥰

My wife and I have been deciding on a class B for quite awhile, and showing the potential to improve the suspension and clearance in this way on a Sprinter has definitely put us at ease. Not that I didn't "want" 4WD, but I don't need it. Nor did I like the spacers/lifts I've seen others install. This is valuable information, and we may end up taking our first trip (from Minnesota) out to Agile after we make the leap.

It's amazing how many people go there for their suspension package. We also thought that we wanted a 4WD, in large part because of the ground clearance. We don't think so anymore.

It is good to know for those having Aluminess products installed that Agile can do the work and are probably more equipped and skilled to make adjustments and modifications during installation. I had a really bad experience when Aluminess installed my front and rear bumper assemblies at the factory. I have a feeling that Agile would have done a much better job doing the Aluminess installation. Great video and taught me something new about Agile that will be useful in the future. Thanks!

This is a great mod for the coach. One thing people should know is that doing this does not turn your rig into an off-road machine able to handle mud and snow like a champ. Call it light utility “off pavement “. You need 4 wheel drive and aggressive tread to pull you through many situations that arise when you are on anything other than a standard dirt road and it starts to rain or snow. Things can start getting dicey pretty quickly. Be aware of the limitations and don’t ask too much of it. Remember, almost all emergency road service plans do not cover any services needed that are off pavement. You get stuck, it’s on your dime to get unstuck and/or towed. I hope this advice helps.
@FromShetoMe

Absolutely. All it does is give us a more comfortable ride on dirt roads as well as paved roads and a little more ground clearance.

You always level for the site where you are parked. There is no site that is perfectly level. And if we are off one degree left or right, we don't sweat it. I use the app on my iPhone to find level by placing it on the counter top in each direction. On our most recent trip, we only used our leveling blocks on the 7th night at the BLM campground and that would have been required regardless of whether we had done the suspension package. As to towing capacity being affected, I have no idea but I shouldn't think so. Best to consult an expert on that topic.

Good day Debbie, all the way from the Northwoods of WI. We love, love...love your channel. You both are excellent. We are 1 year into our new 2020 Pleasureway Plateau TS and are considering a few of Agile’s upgrades. The Off-road Suspension and on-demand air compressor. Our priority is the off-road suspension. We enjoy navigating deeper into the backcountry and as you know, the clearance on the PW can be a limiting factor. In addition, we are looking for a more comfortable ride on these roads. So, we have some specific questions for you on the suspension system. 1) We noticed you had several issues with your refrigerator. Do you believe this is due to the installation of the RIP system that results in a 1” differential between the back and front suspensions (out of level)? Now that you have had the suspension for some time what additional pro’s/con’s can you enlighten us with? 2) How often have you had to use your spare tire that you installed? We are also debating this upgrade. We really don’t have any question on the on-demand air compressor....that’s a go for us unless you have learned there are some downsides we should consider. If it is a bit more user friendly to communicate directly, please feel free to email me at jscjdw@gmail.com (The Jenerators).

Thank you so much for the quick response. Much appreciated and by the way love your episodes. I have taken two trips across the USA to visit the in laws (we were not flying at the time and were not vaccinated....all of that has changed) and I have a floating desk behind the driver (think Lagun table system) where I worked the whole way across the country while my wife drove (she gets carsick and has to drive). I had great connectivity and was able to have MS team calls and access all my work files almost 95% of the time. My one complaint was hitting those rough patches where my laptop and other connected devices would rattle quite a bit. Was just wondering if the investment would be worth it for future travels for the cost investment. I realize it will never be a sedan experience and I am willing to upgrade just don't want to if it not noticeable. @FromShetoMe 3 года назад
Mercedes can claim anything they want and they will. But have you ever heard of a warranty claim regarding a suspension? There has to be a link between the two. For example, Mercedes claims that using B20 voids their warranty. If you fill up with B20, they can claim they won’t repair your drive system but that wouldn’t hold up in our state. We rather have a safer vehicle than worry about Mercedes.

@@FromShetoMe Very good points. Thanks for your reply. This van thing is new for us...ours has been built and is currently at the Airstream factory awaiting Mercedes parking brake recall work...so we've been reaching out to various sources of expertise, like your channel and various forums, to prepare as best we can to hopefully prevent missteps and perhaps shorten our learning curve.

Does your driving experience on the regular highway or freeway (especially when you go over a pothole or the expansions on overpasses or bridges) feel less bumpy? Just looking for ways to make the overall drive less bumpy

Yes, but I don't think anything will ever make these vans feel like a sedan. What we appreciate the most from the upgrade is the extra ground clearance. It proved its worth this trip in Utah!

Another great video! Just wondering if it will affect your Mercedes warranty?
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe 5 лет назад
We don't know for sure. Agile doesn't think so and as my brother told me, whoever has a warranty issue because of the chassis? Also, the warranty expires at 36,000 miles which is less than a year away. I think we would gladly trade the loss of the warranty for the improved ride.

Great video. Question, Can you have the spare tire mount and bikes on the hitch receiver at the same time?
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe 5 лет назад
No and the Aluminess option was just too expensive. In the neighborhood of $7-$8K.
@the__tinkerer
@the__tinkerer 5 лет назад
From She to Me aluminess sells a hitch receiver with a combo tire mount and bike rake for $7-8k Is that correct?
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe 5 лет назад
We had priced out their package that included a box, the tire mount, and a bike rack that sits on top of the box and all of it installed by Agile would have been in the $7-$8K range. I location of the bike rack would have been an issue because lifting e-bikes that high would have been a problem. And of course the price was a choker. We're fine with just deciding which thing to take depending on each particular trip.

What was your van rated originally? That is, was it 1500, 1/2 ton, 2500 3/4 ton of 3500 1 ton, before you put new springs??? BTW I am running on BFG K02 on my Ram 3500 diesel 4x4..... .... Love them so far.
@FromShetoMe

3/4 ton I think but after talking to the guys at Agile, I realize I need to take a deeper dive into the subject.

@@FromShetoMe ok, let me know. i would be interested because the springs they took off.... looked too light to me and obviosly they were.

The video mentions extending sway bar links. But it looked like your Ascent doesn't have a sway bar. Did they also install one?
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe 5 лет назад
A sway bar is not included in the kit so there must be one on the vehicle although I couldn’t find reference to it on line
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe 5 лет назад
I contacted Agile. Our vehicle does not have a sway bar and we did not get charged for adding extensions. Thanks. I would not have known had you not mentioned this.

Great video as always. I must have missed it but why did you get the. Wow suspension and tires? Thanks! Julia
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe 5 лет назад
+Julia Longo The suspension on these Sprinters does not make for a comfortable ride and we wanted the tires for our trip to Alaska.
@juliapl3174
@juliapl3174 5 лет назад
From She to Me Why did you want different tires to go to Alaska?
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe 5 лет назад
The new tires have a very rugged tread. The roads are rough up there and we already had 20,000 miles on the original set. The other thing we got from the suspension/tire package was extra ground clearance that will be great for dirt roads.

On your Pleasureway Ascent, are the new BFG KO2 tires stock size or larger?

+David Kwong They are wider but same wheel size. You can get them in the standard width as well.

Perhaps I missed it but the mod seemed to focus only on handling. Did you gain anything in clearance?
@FromShetoMe

I probably should have highlighted that better in the video but we gained 3 7/8 in rear and 2 3/8 in front.

@@FromShetoMe Thanks for the rapid response. We purchased a '16 Ascent last year and have been doing a ton of mods to it. We are in Sisters, OR and buried under 3' of snow presently. Love the lift you got but boy that is a pricey upgrade. My super organized wife has been busy buying and installing many of your other suggestions preparing for our next SW roadtrip.
