Just wondering why does the cell need to be removed for the intensity test? I don't understand what is the reasoning behind the fact that it passes only when the cell out? Since when analysing the cell will be in obstructing some of that light?
The Test is intended to check the detector/lamp itself and not the cell, there is a separate "Cell test" for that, which meassures the ratio of light the cell itself is absorbing. Otherwise the cell would just introduce unknowns, like solvent / sample or contaminents left in the cell or cell windows.
