This is sad. I was a foster parent for nine years. I would never send a young adult out with no where to go. The foster care program encourages parents to train these children for emancipation. Get them a job, teach them to save, help them learn to budget and care for themselves. It's not easy by any means. Children of regular families can't afford to move out on their own. To tell a person they have to leave because they aged out shows the priority of the parents or the system.

I aged out of the foster care system at age 18. I was not ready to.effectively meet the challenges of life on my own. I knew I was not a stupid person but my education was substandard due to circumstances I had no control over. I considered joining the military after HS (there was a chance I would drop out). I took the ASVAB and scored quite well. I ended up in The US Air Force and chose a career with with a very good civilian application (intelligence). I have done well for myself all in all. I was not lucky. I earned it. I was willing to work for it but I was in FC from age 4 onward. Foster Homes, Group Homes, Orphanages even some time in a JD facility (I am not perfect). Having that said I am no liberal by any stretch of the imagination but I stand behind the belief that the kids who age out of the system need access to better resources and education. A child who is provided the opportunity to develop basic survival skills. (how to interview for a job, balance a bank account etc etc) will help them enhance their true potential. The system has been broken for years. These kids deserve better. God bless.

It's not aging out of group homes, it's aging out the mind. There are mean kids in these group homes that counselors never see or hear. And I mean literally mean kids. I've experienced a bad situation where I was tied to bed and set on fire. And this is a group home. If it happens in one, it happens in others.

Former foster kid here.... casa ruined my life as a child in foster care. They pocketed the money given by taxpayers meant to go to foster kids. They manipulated me. They lied to me. They said I couldn't speak to a judge. It was actually a legal right. If they would have let me see the judge I would have told him how I was being raped and abused. To this day..... nothing has been done. To this day, casa is aware of what happened. To this day, casa is complicit in my abuse. Do not support casa.

Sad but hard truth: when times are hard for the general public, orphaned kids really suffer. There are less donations to children’s charities, more focus on “our own family and our own safety,” which is totally understandable. But my heart bleeds when I think about these children - most do not have an adult that will watch out for them. Can you imagine having no family to turn to when you need food, or help with tuition, etc? no one to comfort and reassure them when a frightening pandemic breaks out? Please consider giving to a children’s charity in your region. These kids literally have no one else to look to for help 💕.

No. Why would we continue to fund resources that aren't working. The foster care system is a band aid. The real issue here is that uneducated and unqualified people are multiplying at alarming rates. What's being done to address this? Nothing! Too much resources are directed to band aid the foster kids that nothing is done to PREVENT the need for the system in the first place!. PREVENTION IS THE BEST MEDICINE. If we as a society continue to donate we are contributing to the broken system. You may feel good about donating but you aren't really helping in the long term. The government who screws us (the working people) are the ones who end up screwed again because they use our money to fund these foster care placed via our hard earned money via donations. And guess what....the foster system is not very affective. Throwing money to them as a band aid is not something I will be a part of. If we stop funding these places then the government will be forced to do something drastic. Aka a reform. They would have to, because there is too many people in that system and they couldn't sustain them without funds from the public. Money talks. You CAN vote with your pocketbook I guarantee you this.
@limcrystal6150
@limcrystal6150 3 года назад
@@Scott-got-caught that is true but there are foster children like me who are currently suffering because the gov has chosen to cut funds from us to fund other things. Straight up cutting funds with no discussions held to improve this system isnt useful either. The issue here also is that money sometimes aren’t spent on children in need and that needs to be talked about. If money was used correctly the ones in care currently would get the help they need and then we can focus on preventing others from coming in because this isn’t the best place to be at all. Cutting funds without making any changes will only increase the number of homeless people on the street as a lot of us are aging out with no resources no help at all. That will just contribute more to this never-ending cycle
@limcrystal6150
@limcrystal6150 3 года назад
@@Scott-got-caught also if foster care workers can actually tell us about these resources we have and so we can use them, those money spent on the programs wouldn’t be wasted. If there’s a lot of programs and resources out there designed to help us but we don’t know it all the money poured into them will just be wasted which is what I meant by not using that funding correctly
@jtf101
@jtf101 2 года назад
@@Scott-got-caught The same people complaining about funds going into foster care are also the same people who pushed to cut funding for sex ed in health classes that teach kids how to practice safe sex and continuously push pro-life incentives that don't allow young or poor mothers to have abortions. THAT is the real issue here, in addition to cutting resources like Planned Parenthood which gives not only free protective measures, but also low-cost abortions. You want to stop people from going into the foster care system? Stop the bleeding where it's actually at.

@@Scott-got-caught I don't get, are you saying there should be a qualifucation to have kids? Are you for real? People will have kids both the qualified and unqualified , so that problem is never going away, except you want to kill babies in the womb of people you feel are u qualified it's never going away, foster care needs fixing but it's the only reasonable solution.

I grew up in the foster care system. It is unfortunate but a good portion of the girls end up pregnant and the boys locked up. I chose to join the Army at 17 years old. And to be honest I didn't join to serve my country. I did it because I had no where to go. Fortunately I chose to make the Army my career. But I believe that I narrowly escaped becoming a statistic. I hope that the system is better today than when I was in it. Because, there weren't enough foster parents to accommodate all the children. And the older one gets the less likely they are going to find a placement for you. Good luck to this young woman. I Hope she's able to find or create a family (and "family" doesn't have to be blood relatives). I truly hope she finds some happiness.

In order for the system to work both sides have to be completely honest and she doesn't look completely honest to me she looked like she was a kid with a huge chip on her shoulder. I'm sure that she gave all of her Foster parents a hard time, whether they deserved it or not. My mother with a Foster parent she only excepted children between the ages of 3 and 6 because I was very young. As I grew older she started accepting children from the ages of 11 to 15. Now that was a big mistake. All my mother wanted to do was help them and most of them just gave her grief, panic, and a whole lot of worrying. My mother always had simple rules to live by. Always do your best if that is not enough then ask for help. Learn as much as you can in school If you're going to be late please let us know. Keep your Room clean and tidy. And dinner is served at 6:00 p.m. And every morning before we went to school she always made sure that we had our special little envelopes that had 2 dimes in them in case of an emergency, because back then we didn't have cell phones or pagers. I can see kids being angry with the situation they are in, but they don't need to destroy a woman who only wanted to give these kids a 2nd chance. My mother had to give up being a foster parent because it was too stressful at her age.

Contact your State representative and bring up the issue of foster youth having no viable safety net after they age out, and also mention why aren't there programs that help them develop the life-skills they require to survive once out of the system. Basically, Just all around spreading the message for others to do the same too. When a representative sees a topic continuously brought up, it becomes more of an interest to them to change. So e-mail or call!

God send his Son Jesus Christ to save you from all your sins. As He said in the book of *John **3:16* - _For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe on him should not perish, but have everlasting life._ *Christ died* on the cross for your sins, *was buried* and third day *He rose from the dead* - *1Corinthians 15:1-4 Gospel of Salvation* What it means? It means your death has been paid! What death? The death of sin. _The wage of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord_ - *Romans **6:23* Believe him and you will be saved. It's simple. As Paul said in the book of *Ephesians 2:8-9* - _For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast._ Be good person means nothing. Why? Because we are not saved by works, but by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. *What to do to became a child of God?* *A* - Admit you are a sinner in need of a Savior. As it is written: _There is non righteous, no, not one_ - *Romans **3:10**.* _For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God_ - *Romans **3:23* *B* - Believe on finished redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the Cross - Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried and He rose again the third day - 1Corinthians 15:1-4. If you want to enter to the Kingdom of Heaven, you must be like a child - children trust their parents. Why I mention parents? Because God is our Creator (Genesis 1:27), He is our Father, He is our Parent - _Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart_ - *Jeremiah 1:5* *C* - Call on the name of the Lord and you will be saved. _If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved_ - *Romans 10:9-10.* _For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved_ - *Romans **10:13**.* Jesus Christ is the shower/water, that cleans us of all unrighteousness. _Come now, let us settle the matter, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; thought they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool_ - *Isaiah **1:18* Shalom and God bless you all ♥️🙏
