Thanks for posting this. Super helpful for those of us trying to figure it out. Edit, never mind I see this question was already answered... Could you add, how many photos this project has, how long it took and what your computer specs are? That would give us an idea of what to expect with our computers or what we need to get the processing times down. Thanks!

This video is a few years old but figured i would try to ask anyways. Just learning metashape - coming from Pix4d and dronedeploy. Got a ways to go! But I am having issues with gcp accuracy in Metashape. We've processed the same map using 7 gcps in both dronedeploy and Metashape and in DD we are achieving .057' vs Metashape .332' . Undoubtedly there is something we are doing wrong and was hoping for some direction.

Hello @MrDennisrsjr, I have been trying to make ends meet with Agisoft Metashape. I find that it takes ages to generate dense point Cloud. Are you still using Agisoft Metashape, or have you found another 3D application? If so, what are you using now?
@MrDennisrsjr
@MrDennisrsjr 11 месяцев назад
Still using Metashape! It is by far the best we have found (for us). It affords a lot more flexibility and the outputs are great. Curious, what kind of machine are you running it on and what are the specs? @@octaviodasilva9780

Very helpful! I have switched from Pix4D to Agisoft and this was awesome! Question, how to I export the "filtered dense cloud"? When I filtered by confidence, then export it out to bring into Lidar360, all the original points are still there. Thanks for any help and gain thank you for the very helpful videos on Agisoft.
@flyinlo1474
@flyinlo1474 2 года назад
I meant to add, I had alot of water which the filter helped clean up. I then just used the freeform selection tool to select all the rogue points and delete them. After that I exported thinking the file would be the "filtered and cleaned" version but it was not.
@SkySurvInc
@SkySurvInc 2 года назад
@@flyinlo1474 you have to assign a point class, like ground. Then you can export that class only. Alternatively you can filter the inverse(only the “bad” points) then delete them!

@@SkySurvInc Thanks for the specs, really helpful for us too judge our own machines or the ones we need to buy / build. Those specs are almost identical to mine from the computer I built in 2014. Nice video, very helpful! But I have a question, what if we don't convert the references at the beginning of the process? Would it affect the entire process after that?
@SkySurvInc
@SkySurvInc 4 года назад
If you don't convert, your coordinates will be in WGS84 Lat/Long. If you're OK with that, then no problem!

Thank you for the good content. I take a photo with a drone and then create 3d data with metashpae The question is I don't know how many photos for usable quality.(like animation clip for presentation) For example, how many photos are suitable for an area of 100m x 100m? In the video, 64 photos, but in my case I'm working with over 300 photos in a similar area. Of course, the work time is longer. It's my problem. I would like to hear some advice on how to reduce working time. Please advise thanks..
@SkySurvInc
@SkySurvInc 4 года назад
Hello, Best thing to consider is your target GSD for the end result. YOu can work back from there to determine a flying height, overlap and sidelap.
@reluxopenclass4331
@reluxopenclass4331 4 года назад
First of all, thank you for the advice. In my last project, I photographed a road about 100m x 150m at a height of 35m and the number of pictures was about 800 or more. And, The dense cloud process took about 20 hours and as a result the quality was good(3d data). My concern is how to get satisfactory 3d data with few photos. Do you have any advice?
@SkySurvInc
@SkySurvInc 4 года назад
@@reluxopenclass4331 It seems like you have excessive overlap. On s site of that size, the most photos I would take is ~200. I would recommend a max 90% side/overlap. 80/80 should work for most situations. If needed, you can decrease this even further(70/70) for flat areas(like your road). Bottom line, there is no absolute rule for this, as every site is different. Hopefully this is helpful.
@reluxopenclass4331
@reluxopenclass4331 4 года назад
Yes, when shooting with a drone, the camera will automatically set and shoot. and It's the good quality, but the number of pictures was always too heavy, I thought. Thank you for your advice on reducing the number from 80 to 90 photos.
