He is correct. Dentist recommend not rinsing or at least waiting 30min before you do. Rinsing washes away the fluoride that is the main ingredient in toothpaste that protects and strengthens your teeth. If you’re worried about debris use mouth wash with fluoride and wait before drinking water.

If you look in the back of tooth paste it says you are not supposed to rinse after brushing your teeth. By rinsing your mouth after brushing, you are essentially washing all the product off that would have other wise cleaned your teeth.

As a dental Professional I’ll tell you ya need to rinse with water because water cleanses and purifies also gets loose debris of food and liquid sugars point is rinse your mouth as we get older things start to catch up

Toothpastes that contain fluoride and other ingredients meant to strengthen your tooth enamel might need a bit of extra time on the surface of your teeth for you to get their full benefit so when you rinse immediately after brushing, you’re erasing a lot of the benefit of applying fluoride to your teeth. You're not supposed to wet your toothbrush or rinse your mouth. The toothbrush paste is supposed to provide a barrier for the teeth. After a while, you get use to it.
