I ordered the Thumb on March 6th.. It was delivered today, the 29th. I unboxed the thumb and to my surprise the adapters were include to mate the Thumb hose to the QH12 hose. PERFECT! Unlike another video where he had to get new hoses made.
Same for mine, a pleasant surprise. Seems like the DIN connectors are not so available. How do you like the thumb? I'm still getting the hang of it but better than the fixed one for sure. Thanks for watching and the comment.
@@semo-dyer5183I'm still installing it, ran into a minor problem. One of the bolts holding the mechanical thumb was stuck and had to use my 4.5" grinder with a cutoff wheel holding the bolt to get the pin out. Hammered it out and cleaned up the arm.
I got it working. But they don't tell you you need to bleed the air out of the cylinder. The first time I tried it, it locked with the piston fully extended. I loosened the connectors at the cylinder and a load of fluid blew out with bubbles. I pulled the thumb back to midrange and tried again, tightened the connectors and SLOWLY opened and closed and it started cycling correctly.
My next mod is a pair of reversible 12V 80 Watt 8" fans. I have to get some automotive wiring and connectors and remove the rear panel. While I'm doing that I will hinge the rear panel for easy access. There is a video on the tube on installing a piano hinge on the left side as seen from the rear. The machine gets so hot I can't touch the engine bay panels, so I only run the machine for about an hour and then let it cool down.
That's what I did too. I saw a different idea for the rear cover that was pretty cool. The guy eliminated the hinge by using two sets of the cam type closers. Now he can take the cover off. Thought that was clever. Good luck!
Good morning Bryan, I think you are really going to enjoy the hydraulic thumb. I have been considering, for awhile, adding one to the backhoe on our little tractor. Thanks, I enjoyed the video, Ben
Good Morning Ben, I used it a little more off camera and you are right. It makes it easier to pick stuff up plus gets out of the way if you want to dig. You should look into one. Thanks for watching. Bryan
I'm also going to replace the short control rods with longer ones which will make it easier to control the hydraulics. They are too darn touchy to control being so short.
Yes Sir. Here is where I bought mine. Took a little longer to get than I'm used to but It was well packaged, typhonmachinery.com/store/TYPHON-Attachments-Hydraulic-Thumb-Clip-Attachment-for-Mini-Excavators-USA-p503097126
@@semo-dyer5183 Thanks for the reply. I just found out mine didn't come with a hydraulic. I have to buy it, so I had to move the thumb manually by taking out the screws and readjusting the thumb 😁
Mine had the hydraulics when I bought it but the manual thumb. I bought the hydraulic thumb and it was a game changer since I have a lot of rock to deal with.
