You don't have to steal the top card. Instead, after they shuffle the deck, just show them the deck face up, while searching for the forced card and cull it on top. Then you are good to go.

I like his Plan B when the heckler decides on a different card. It's a great basic example of his routine design skills that anyone can understand. When performing magic for an interactive audience, you always need a backup plan for when they do something unexpected. To me Shin's best characteristics are the charisma that he imbues in his on-stage character, his ingenious gimmicks, and his elegant routine designs (which goes far beyond the simple example shown in this video). Yes, he has beautiful handwork, but he was always limited on how much he can practice due to injury, and to be honest, there are other magicians who do far more difficult sleights.

There are tons of ways to take a peek at the top card of the shuffled deck. Then, instead of having a duplicate card, you could tell the spectator that you have a prediction. Write it down on a piece of paper and have them read it out loud after the trick is done. This is just one of the many ways it can be done. But of course, you might already know this. Maybe you’re already into magic.

Shin Lim is such an inspiration. I'm a 14 year old magician, and if that isn't hard enough, I am also a girl. If you didn't know, Shin Lim had an accident and couldn't move his fingers very well. But he kept trying and recovered. Thanks

if you are about to do a slip force, just let them shuffle. spread and show them how randomly they shuffled and while doing that peek the top card

This is awesome. This is like 0.0000001 of what he does and you can see all the little details and intricacies involved. I can't imagine all the other magic he's performed and what goes into those. In all reality, I prefer to not even know. That's the magic of it. It's cool to show a glimpse so you know, it requires technique, skill and actual thought to design these illusions if you will, but that said, I enjoy rather not knowing how it's done. Awesome stuff.

They are more Chinese than the people in Beijing, which has been the capital of An-Lushan's mixed-Hu people, Jurchens, Monguls, Manchus and the commie yellow-skin Russians. Real Han Chinese people call them Hu-Tartars(胡虏鞑虏).

@Sea Shell Judging by his name, not just looks, he's of Chinese origin. Singapore has a mixed population of mainly Chinese, Indian and Malaysian people. There may be other sub ethnicities like Japanese, Korean etc. But you get the drill.
