Shin Lim: "By the way, you are now pregnant." Courtney: "Really, no way! I didn't feel anything" Shin Lim: "No, not you. Mario." Mario Lopez: "Woooowww"
Legend has it he was holding the same card at birth. Upon delivery, all medical staff involved later went home and found the same card in their refrigerator.
Every card in the deck has a 10 of hearts attached to the back. That's why he always touches the card before revealing it, to undo the adhesive. This is pretty clear at 0:59, he picks up the card and another one drops below it. It's also why at 3:17 the host is having a hard time picking up the card, it's still a bit sticky. At 2:35 he separates both 10 of hearts from either pile, so whichever one she chooses will be the correct card. Because of that, there is a second exposed 10 of hearts in the deck, which is why he says "you've already checked the deck, every card is different." That avoids anyone looking at the deck again to see the other 10 of hearts.
I wish they didn’t have a camera cut at the moment where he “touched” her selected card. His slight of hand dropping the 10 of hearts there was probably excellent, but with the camera cut we don’t really know how good it was.
I dont see it dropping a different card that isnt already on the deck. He just picks it up and drops it back down, unless something else happened during the camera cut
I’ve watched several times and while the resolution of the video doesn’t help, I don’t think there is nothing weird. I am a video editor and used to be a card trick magician… Either way I think I cracked the trick, even though I have almost no idea how he transformed the 5 to a 10 of hearts. Possible spoiled trick read no further if you don’t want to lose the magic: I think what he has is a combination of an svengali and invisible deck. Basically he has a ton of 10 of hearts repeated in the deck, while hidden behind other normal cards. Every 2nd card there is a 10 of hearts hidden behind a normal one, so no matter where she wanted to pick the deck he just needed to split the card behind (you can see he actually does this quickly when he confirms that’s her selected card) Figuring this out is basically all there is of the trick, since she can shuffle the deck and still get the 10 of Hearts afterwards. All his predictions are behind that card. My intended guess of how he transforms that 5 of hearts the way it did without moving his hand is that is actually a screen like a Kindle just a card version. This is far fetched I know, but I honestly can’t think of another way
shin : check my bank account i made the money disappear for this staged magic trick to promote my show mario: wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
It's a trick deck: 0:40 you can see the 4 cards are already hearts, so the 10 of hearts was predetermined and Shin's gonna plant it somehow. 0:59 he plants the 10 of hearts, didn't matter where she chose. My theory is some cards have a 10 of hearts closely attached to the back and Shin knows how to separate it. 2:35 both the card in her hand and on the table have the 10 of hearts separated off the back of the card. The video seems to be edited to avoid giving it away. 4:15 this is a trick card where you place your finger on the dot of the question mark and there's a mechanism that makes the card change. 4:54 since the 10 of hearts is predetermined, he stuck it in her pocket pre show. He probably went to her dressing room when her coat was on the rack and snuck it in there. Genius!
He could not plat it.. See closely. When his hand went down to pick up the selected card, his hand was empty. So no way he could plant it. It's completely staged with a svengali deck
One thing I figure out on how he narrow down the cards in the deck is card counting, he said everything about how he doesn't want to influence her decision in picking a card but that sentence was what influenced her. As someone who does not know the trick, you will only think of "stop" after the magician gave you the option to "stop". A magician that counts card basically always knew where the card is, asking you to choose the pile of deck that have been separated is to create an illusion that you are in control. For example, telling you to pick the deck from the hand or the table. If you pick the wrong deck, the magician will just come up with more words, do more shuffling and asks you to pick again, creating the illusion of randomness. 1) If you picked the right deck, he will say that it was you that picked it and he had no hand in it, amazing you. 2)If you always picked the wrong deck, the magician will pick it out himself and you would still be amazed as to how he knew. Magic is not only about sleight of hand and tricks. Magic is also about word play, confidence, charisma and tempo.
The 10 hearts reveal is a variation on the BW deck. (magicians will know what I mean). I use the BW deck where a card is named and it is revealed as the only card upside down in the deck. (professional magician here). Good presentation as always by Shim.
Shin: "Mario....I want you to watch my sleeves very closely. Don't take your eyes off of them." *Mario looking at literally anything but Shin's sleeves*
@@SalvableRuin He/she is actually correct because if you continue the sentence, it can be completed. “…does not draw your attention to where he wants it to be.” It’s just redundant to say that, so he stopped at “to” Another example would be the “He is taller than I… am taller.” It’s just that it’s redundant to continue past “I”, so to still be grammatically correct, most drop the sentence there.
@@modthefirst3405 I would say "he's taller than I am" or "he's taller than me". And I don't believe oberstsomething was correct. That said, this is not a grammar contest.
It seems that way, but as a magician, I can tell you that he just snuck the card into her pocket at some point, most likely when he met her. It's sleight of hand, and not as hard it sounds. I've done this with friends and they are always mind blown, but it's really just placing the cards in their pocket at some point, usually back pants pocket as it's the easiest. And then performing a very basic trick with with a great ending.
Long ago I used to think "Well clearly it's just the hosts being in on it." but it's been a couple decades since I first started watching magic, and I started to realize, no. They do over react at times, but great magicians are just THAT good. And you sir are THAT good. I feel like the truly great magicians you can know how they do every trick, and still be taken away by their performance/storytelling and presence. And again, you have that rare gift.
Honestly, except for a couple specific ones, he does some pretty amateur magician stuff for the most part. He's got great showmanship to support it, but these are pretty much standard card tricks and other tricks in general that he does.
@@Whales1992 that is because he does a lot of shows like this and it doesnt take much to impress the hosts and audience. He is keeping the best trick for the more serious events.
@Teenage Investor there are many cameras so you can see every angle plus they edit the footage for the audience, if you are in LIVE it feels very boring and get only one perspective i.e, from your eyes only.
@Teenage Investor off course they won't show every angle or else it won't be magic edit: they have to fool the audience or else they won't make 💰💰 I thought you knew this teenage investor or is that name a sham
I love how people try to reveal the trick. The great magician will make the audience guess what really happened. they will try to explain what is logically possible. and shin lim you are one of the greatest magician thank you for all magic you share.
didnt didnt realize she had an interior pocket which a lot of female blazers do not have pockets of any kind or they’re fake as the designers prefer form over function.
I'm 28 and JUST started learning magic... Been about a month and I'm DECENT at the triple and double lifts. Lmao imagining getting to this point is inspiring
@@Michael.Virtus Probably but even the crew would not think he was cheatging. He would tell them this was a prediction and he wanted it to be completely out of his hands to make the trick harder.
all the cards are doubled up, each have a 10 of hearts stuck to them, at 0:59 you can see him pinch the cards to separate them. The rest is mostly shuffling tricks, wardrobe placed the 10 of hearts in her coat, and the card changing from a 5 to 10 is just a gimmick card.
Who would think this guy would keep working so hard and still be relevant after so much time. Say what you want but there are many magicians. This guy is a hustler.
TBh, The only thing I didn't know is how he forced the card to the pick. Everything else afterwards, the changing of cards, the card on the sleeves, the royal flush, the prediction, all of those are just set ups that even a 10 year old can do if they know the logic behind. How he forced the card, I don't see it even when I slowed the video.
seen a few vids by Shin Lim now and im amazed with every one of them, his showmanship, skill and dexterity with manual manipulation are astounding, even moreso when u take into account the accident, surgeries and rehabilitation he went thru
Ok, now I know why Shin Lim has his hair like that. It’s to disguise himself as a scrotum so that he can gain access to people’s foreskin. Wow! Amazing!
I love how magicians have inside jokes for other magicians like “I never touched this card right?” Having the spectator say “yeah you didn’t touch it.” As he is holding it
