the flow for the chorus had me tripping up a lot when i first heard d-day BUT MY GOD I LOVE SCREAMING THE CHORUS. i wish i was able to go to yoongi's concert, i would've been a vital addition to the audience😔

Yes, that how it goes for me for new releases. Listen to the music first, and then read the lyrics translation as they come out. There are several translators on twitter who post their translation pretty quickly. Doolset posts theirs a little later. Then maybe a lyric video for a more convenient sync up between the music and the lyrics. Btw, there's a cute interaction between Yoongi and ARMY during this song in the concerts. He would go to the barricade and pick a phone and record himself selfie-style. At first he picked any phone, but then on Day 3, he picked a Samsung Galaxy and said no iPhone. (BTS is the brand ambassador for Samsung.) Naturally, ARMY dressed up their iPhones as Galaxies for Day 4. But someone simply wrote "Samsung" on the back of their phone and Yoongi saw it. He picked it and showed to the camera with a large smile and then said, "Are you kidding me?" On the last day in the US, someone brought an ancient Galaxy flip phone that doesn't even have a video recording function, and Yoongi threw back his head in laughter. I love how this playful relationship developed as the tour progressed. He just finished his three concerts over the weekend here in Indonesia and he was all smiles on the last day. He seems to be enjoying himself so much, which I'm very happy to see.

Lol if autotune is a thing that's going to throw you off of a song, I send my thoughts and prayers your way for the rest of the album. I promise this isn't the last of it. You may have to mentally brace your ears going forward. D-Day is such a good track to intro an album. I remember being so hyped about it on first listen. You're right. Once the album drops, it's streaming time so international fans basically start listening while having no idea what the song is about. Some people do a rush job of lyrics so we can get a general idea of the song within the first couple of hours, but I personally prefer to wait a bit since Korean is such a nuanced language and is so context heavy. I prefer to wait until our trusted fandom translators can take some time and properly do it. Until then, I enjoy the song just for how it sounds. It's a bummer sometimes to discover that the song you were throwing your back out to in the shower is super deep and have some super meaningful lyrics. I'm tired of BTS playing in our faces with these happy beats and sad lyrics.

In his tour it's the closing song before the encore he's just having so much fun! On release honestly the first rough translations come up on twitter in the next 10 minutes and Genius is pretty fast too, I'd say it's up in the 1st hour

D-Day is top three for me on this album. Gets you moving from the first beat. It was soooo good live.

Same as most people here, I listen to the album first, and then wait for doolset's lyrics. Sometimes I look for the lyrics right away, but most of the time I take my time and listen to the whole album like a couple hundred times first😅

As an answer yeah ,for me most of the times when their songs.drop i only listen to them without trying hard yo understand the lyrics if they r not clear ,and stream them ,and later got to understand the lyrics mostly from a reaction ,or a lyric video

I like this song. actually, I like the entire album.. It's so good.. Lyrics and everything.. I don't know from my opinion, Autotune is not a bad thing.. It's not that they can't sing.. I always just listen first. It's music, not spoken word, so if I'm not vibin then the rest is neither here nor there for me. It can actually take me up to a month to look up the lyrics to every song when an album drops because I can only absorb so much at a time. During releases I stay away from ARMY twt until I've had a chance to listen and read everything myself. I don't want anyone else's analysis or interpretation to influence mine, at least for the time being. I'm not the type that formally "studies" lyrics. I like to just let the meanings slowly wash over me and take shape in my mind as I naturally listen and read, so my process is very slow. But it's the way I like 😊. D-day is one of my faves. It gave me "face down ass up" vibes on first listen 😂.

I want to share that when it was my first time to listen to the album as a whole in chronology, I can't move past from this track, track#1 D-Day because it got me addicted that I was obsessively repeating it until I memorized the chorus! 😂 it took me a while to move on.. I want to recommend track#10 Life Goes On (it's Yoongi's solo version submitted demo & high contending demo to be adapted to the final) but before that, pls listen to Life Goes On OT7 version first so that you can see his parts that made in. And I love Yoongi's singing voice so much! Just like his rap, it's so emotionally piercing! (Speaking of his emotional raps, I think you haven't heard enough yet 🥲)

You should go to the worldwide D-Day concert livestream in theaters on June 3…! It will be the Japan concert. This is a chance to hear him tear it up from beginning to end on the big screen and with a crowd!

I listen without translation first time through to the unadulterated vibe of it, then I look up lyrics on doolset and listen.

Typically I listen to the music first, unless one of our many talented translators has already posted the lyrics on Twitter. A good majority of the time ARMY translators/transcribers work on getting the translations out within the hour, and since we have many - we have multiple sources to look at to get a better understanding of the songs since Korean is so nuanced with multiple meanings etc... I personally only watch lyric videos when i'm watching reactors. I have doolset bookmarked as well. Also, having seen Yoongi in Chicago - I can 100% say the entire setlist and staging was incredible.

My plan of attack for new releases is to listen to the whole album first and then I'll look over some trusted translation accounts for the basic first time lyrical content and then normally if you wait a little big hit would release official videos or content that have what is considered the "official" translation and then I would routinely run to doolset to see their translations as the weeks pass

First time (if no MV is available, with subs), YES, we do just vibe. We loathe lyric videos in general. We wait for ARMY translators to do what they do best belonging to 2 cultures. Some have some lyrics ready under 1 hour (rough translations). Some promise us some lyrics over a weekend... :) Yes, the music is king. Or queen. Plus we trust these guys lyrics.

I've noticed that when Yoongi (and others in BTS, Jimin Set Me Free pt 2) uses autotune he means "other voice" is talking (internal voice, usually darker than your outer one).

jeez, I just commented last night about us getting ready for another military announcement after his tour and yeah we really got the announcement earlier... Yoongi's going to enlist soon. probably around October. some of our trusted translator on twt gave us rough translation on the first day of the song/album's release (and I guess they edit some words after few days), doolset took like a week to a month to translate all songs in the album

Yeah...I just listen to the entire disc from beginning to end to just FEEL it, and then I listen again for details in musical hit points to my brain/heart, then slowly find translations while still listening to playlists I create or ones others do. We vibin'.

This is one of my favourite tracks on the album! I don't usually like autotune, but I enjoy it in Suga/AgustD's music because I feel it ties in so well with his adlibs (not sure if that's the term) and the kind of beats he makes 💜 When an album drops, I usually listen to the music on its own and check the lyrics after I savoured that initial excitement, which tends to be about a week later. English is not my first language, and most popular music is sang in English, so I am used to hearing music without paying attention to the lyrics then consciously listen to the words when I do want to follow the lyrics :)

I think most ARMY'S listen without translations first. But if the song has an MV with it. We watch the whole package. About things not being your vibe. Trust Suga PD nim to change that for you. I have preferences too but they break that down quite often. I end up asking myself, who the fuck am I?!

When music comes out I vibe to the song. Usually translations take a little while to come out since the translators are also listening to the songs for the first time. So that gives me time to listen to songs a few times before I see what the lyrics are. I’m someone who needs to look at lyrics to understand a song even if it’s in English. If there is a music video then I watch the video without subtitles first to take in the visuals. Then I go back and watch again with subs. Sometimes I’m too distracted by the visuals anyways so I need to read the lyrics separately.

This song also grew on me just like how it did for you. BTW this channel just slaps their own beats on at the end, and it appears to be an attempt to cheat the artists out of a copyright claim, so we suggest avoiding that channel.

"D-Day" is not my thing either. I'm fine with heavy autotune, but this wasn't it for me. It's still great, though! Especially live, hype as you said. It's just not going on a playlist of mine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I usually listen to the songs first then check the translations once they're available while listening again. If you're going to continue reacting to D-Day album, when you get to "Snooze" ft. Ryuichi Sakamoto & Woosung (a song meant to comfort younger artists and idols, but the timing of its release was unfortunate), I'd suggest listening to it in tandem with "So Far Away" ft. Suran from the D-1 mixtape because of the dream verses and comforting messages. Same with "Life Goes On" by Agust D, the last song in the album; there's "Life Goes On" by BTS. He often refers to and calls back his verse from other songs in his solo and group works, which you probably know from his D-2 mixtape's "Dear My Friend" when people talked about his verse in BTS's "Spring Day." Agust D's "Life Goes On" in particular calls back his own and J-Hope's verses. I'm not sure if it's true, but apparently this was the original "Life Goes On" he wrote for that got rejected(?) or was a demo(?) for BTS's "Life Goes On." Another song in the album "Polar Night" is pretty much the sibling of "Haegeum"-not related to the trilogy, more just forcing people to think about what they're fighting for, if it's really right. The "Interlude: Dawn" is a whole movie soundtrack. "SDL" and "People Pt. 2" ft. IU are placed one after the other in the D-Day album, and their vibes are very similar. You see Agust D and Suga sync up in these two songs; they're one in the same.

I listen a few times no lyrics then look up translations. Not lyric videos. Those tend to be not as good as someone like doolset.
