Agust D 'Haegeum' Official MV - REACTION! 

Agust D is literally talking about everything that is wrong in the world right now. Since haegeum is a traditional instrument but also means liberation of prohibition. He is really asking who's on board for the revolution, for the new world, for the new kingdom and to get on board now. So we can fix everything that is broken. This is a masterpiece. The lyrics and wordplay are incredible. This is what rap in my humble opinion should be. A way of making people aware of all the social, economical issues and more. And Suga just did that. To add further layers to this, it’s really pointed commentary on capitalism or essentially: feudalism. What became his weapon in the beginning (his tool to criticise & stand up) became a utensil. In the end he has to partake in this because of obligation. literally; to feed himself. A Thailand ARMY (shout out to Sky_hxneul) was kind enough to educate us and explain that this was filmed in Thailand and that place is called the "Thief Market" Rattanakosin Island's (Old name of Thailand from 1782-1892) and it was the first international shoping center in the period after the abolition of slavery.. This is how he explained it : so this market came to exist because the people in the palace freed from slavery when they moved out of the palace, they received some goods from the master and also stole some They then brought those goods to sell them in this area. Now we know that Haegeum is a traditional instrument but also means the liberation of the prohibition. SUGA: "Haegeum can refer to the traditional instrument but Haegeum as a lift on a ban. But I strongly felt those things kind of prohibiting my life actually. I can live without walking on eggshells as much. You have to live doing the things you want." "Scar dude”, is Agust D. He always has a scar. Representing his own scars. His alter ego, Agust D. He's always portrayed as a villain, a person in power, but nevertheless a villain. He's Suga's opposite side who holds lots of anger, fear, sadness, resentment, vengefulness his darker emotions. Previously in Daechwita, BOTH Suga AND Agust D had scars. He was in a different state of mind, he said he had lots of anger, but here only Agust D has a scar, it's not as red, meaning he's healing, but Suga has none. He's trying to get rid of that side of himself here. And Suga is Suga, himself. It's always been Suga VS Agust D. But he said in IU's palette that he's changed a lot and has learned to forgive and be a happier person, so Agust D can go to rest now. That side of Suga, Agust D, is gone....for now. He says he's not sure when he'll come back....IF he ever comes back, however he said if those strong emotions return, then so will Agust D. It's kind of bittersweet. He said somewhere in the physical album that from this point on, we can expect to see "SUGA"'s debut....not Agust D, but SUGA in his next album. So, in order: First Agust D, blonde and scarred, killed by Second Agust D, black hair scarred: killed by Final Agust D is actually Suga, to be continued in Amygdala I think that is interesting that the original Agust D became the Mad King and the D-2 Agust D became a rich looking cop idk if that's his intention but it very much reads as a critique on corruption by money and power. Especially as he kills them both at the end.

*MV Theory Breakdown* Since Suga starts out with six men around him at the beginning it’s clear they are the members. Together they go through the upper floor reeking havoc (a nice way to say murdering a bunch of people). I think this represents BTS literally destroying the music industry with their accomplishments. From there we see a Suga who is carefree, running away from the detective (anger). Even as Suga is collecting more and more money the place he’s in is not luxurious but messy and down to earth. It could even be seen as how even though Suga of BTS has gained a lot in life he still has to deal with crap around him. It could also show how no matter his wealth, he’s always been the same down-to-earth person he was when he started out. At one point he’s mocking a fish. This could both be Suga mocking all the haters or how he’s felt in the past with the entire world watching him and judging his actions. The fish could also be the rest of the K-pop industry living inside a fish bowl as a lot of people have described fame that way but Suga is free, outside of the fish bowl. The Detective is a new version of the king from Daechwita. He is the rebellious lead from Daechwita who killed the first king but even he himself has become just like the king: corrupt, angry. The Detective is an embodiment of Suga’s anger. Even when The Detective has Suga at gun point, Suga isn’t afraid. It shows that his anger doesn’t have power over him. The money that The Detective (a part of Suga) wants, Suga destroys without hesitating. The money was never why he did what he did. It’s always been about the music. The set for when Suga is surrounded by barrels on fire is similar to the one from Daechwita where he was tired up. Even though he’s trapped by The Detective and his men, Suga isn’t tied up or blindfolded. Meaning he has more control over the situation than it seems. The climax of the MV, and in a way the end of the AgustD trilogy, is when after being drowned by Anger/The Detective, Suga has the strength to kill him once and for all. The body of the king in Daechwita was never seen, so it was never certain that Suga killed him. But this time we know for certain he is dead. We see Yoongi hanging out of the back of the police cruiser. This mirrors him hanging out of the car in Deawchita. Except this time he seems peaceful and is dropped off at a place where he can sit down in quiet. A final note: the chop sticks. At the beginning he used them to start the attack on the men upstairs (aka the music industry) but as he sits down he uses them to eat. This could mean two things. 1. He only went as hard as he did because the world was against him and BTS. 2. He’s wrapped up his AgustD persona trilogy and now wants to simply be Yoongi. Someone who can have a meal in peace, someone who can partake in the music industry (the restaurant) just like anyone else. 70 year old Army here. "Haegeum" has a double meaning in this song. It is a traditional Korean instrument held on the knee and played like a stand up bass with a bow and two silk strings. It is an instrument used in this song. It also means liberation or freeing what's forbidden and is very relevant to this song. Actually, it should remind you of Daechwita! 💜

Suga hanging out of the cop car window is also a callback to when peasant AgustD did that in the black and gold car that did doughnuts in King AgustD's courtyard in the 'Daechwita' MV....Haegeum MV is full of echoes of Daechwita MV - his 6-man posse, fighting a corrupt figure of authority, the chicken, the unexpected double-cross, the fire-lit scene, the opening walking-thru-a-village scene, etc

Daechwita and Haegeum feels like lost twins because this feels like a pattern. Yoongi keeps killing off his old self (the king with a scar) when his self reaches the point of greed and corruption once again. He keeps doing it to bring himself back down to the ground so that the humble version of himself lives on instead of the one tainted with greed. He shot the king on Daechwita and shot him once again in Haegeum. That's why he mentioned that he forgave those people who hated them and want only to stay humble. BTS/YOONGI ARE THE MOST SELF-AWARE ARTISTS I'VE EVER KNOWN... like they knew something we don't, they know how dirty the industry works and that's why they don't get swayed so easily. I would like to add a little of my theory too... Detective Yoongi represents Yoongi's angry persona. He was the rebel in Daechwita who killed the King who is representing power. Detective Yoongi wanted his money. The criminal Yoongi stole the money of the detective not for the money but for the detective himself... Reference: 1)he nods at the informer who called the detective. 2) He smiles knowing that the police are after him. 3) He doesn't run away to save him nor scared of the detective. 4) He burns the money that he had stolen. In the end, the detective smiles before being shot. He could mean that even if he ( anger ) is dead someone like him (negative emotion) would / might come after the other Yoongi, therefore, therefore killing him will be useless Or he could mean that the new Yoongi would also become just another one like the king and detective Yoongi. Because that was what happened to the detective. But that didn't happen. Criminal Yoongi starts and ends at the same place... He started at the restaurant with his members (bts), killed people (destroying the music industry), stole money (became wealthy), trapped and killed the detective yoongi (freed from his anger), and returned to the same restaurant just like another ordinary man or as the same Yoongi seen in the beginning but alone this time ( or independent ). He has no greed for money and power. Meaning that this Yoongi doesn't change into the corrupt and greedy one like the detective and King Yoongi. In Daechwita, we don't know what happened to the king or the rebel (now detective) Yoongi. But about criminal yoongi, it's shown here. This is the final Agustd who is freed from society's expectations and obligations (king) as well as his own negative emotions (detective). He is calm, down-to-earth, non-greedy, and emotionally strong with a completely healed scar ( representing he is completely fine now ).

In the MV I think he is fighting himself because even though he hates capitalism he also loves indulging in it. Because even though everyone in some way or another takes part in capitalism, Yoongi has just been the one to accept he is a bi-product of a money making machine. As HYBE is a big capitalistic corporation but he is also a victim of it as well because he is still an idol who works for a higher power [slave]. But maybe my interpretation is wrong. Interpretation , that whole line goes back to how in Korea especially North Korea you don't have the freedom to do a lot. That's why the South is so different and a bit more Liberal, but he's also talking about being an artist, and as a culture. It's looked down on in society if you have tattoos and smoke in Korea, so he's showing that he doesn't care, plus in the music industry artists don't have the freedom to do what they want with the direction, styling, lyrics they want to express. It's all about the numbers and money, rather than how an arist will bring something new to the market. The're manager was the first to let them have free reign on how they want to express themself and direction of how they want their messages and truths to be told. He's saying join the revolution of freedom to be yourself, express how you want to express, point the light on what's real and the real identity of the music industry as it stands

Freedom of expression does not exist, it depends on the interests at stake and it can cost you your life or the quality of it. We are slaves in many ways, it depends on your economy to do everything you want, we are all slaves to something or someone. RU-vid example: artists:number of streaming and position you get; content creators: timeline, number of videos you upload, content that continues to grab attention, number of followers and users: who stop living their own life and live in a world behind the screen. Now if you're a public figure, people feel they have the right to say what you should or shouldn't do, criticize you, and hate you for something you said and they don't agree. They want them to live like monks without questioning their own double standards. And if we analyze it further, you will realize that there is a lot of his personal history in this letter, but it also applies to BTS as a group, to us as a society and to this fast-paced world in which we now live.

I'd like to take a closer look at the back of his cyan jersey jacket to see if it bears the image of a 5-toed dragon. In "Daechwita", the king wore royal robes but the embroidered dragons have only 4 toes on each foot signifying that he is not a true king. The king's royal robes should have embroidered dragons with 5 toes on each foot. The color cyan is quite symbolic in ancient Eastern Asian traditions. I also see so many visual parallels between Daechwita and Haegeum here.
