I crashed at well above 70mph and I had a K6 secret on. Head was not damaged at all, helmet Ended up a tad squashed. Highly recommended and I’ve just bought another as the first one saved my life.
@@mancavemoto yeah I will be. Died in A&E week ago Sunday, punctured lung. Fractured neck and back, broke ribs and broken collarbone. I went 40ft in the air and landed on my face and not a scratch on my face or the helmet. So literally I’ve just bought another K6 today as I can guarantee they work well.
@@dogrul2363 yes I died of a punctured Lung in A&E due to a punctured lung, was resuscitated. Was 7weeks ago now, just got back on a bike. So going a lot slower than usual.
Amazing helmet! I've used it for riding my e-scooter this season. The thing about this helmet is I don't really feel it's weight. Super smooth and comfortable. I've had some issues with fogging, but mostly due to lower speeds (e-scooter is not a bike after all) and probably some inoptimal position (when the air does not flow so much through the vents). Anyways, I always got that special feeling when I take it on and go for a ride.
Great review thank you. Bought my second one for my summer 24' EU tour. Imo I could not find a better put together light weight (massive plus) comfortable all round helmet at this price point. AGV can easily charge more and iit would still be worth it.
Good review! Agree, the neck roll really helps to keep wind noise out. Love the light weight. A couple of small gripes: a few creaks from the liner as you move your head around. The shield lock tab does draw your eyes to it with the shield cracked or open, kind of like the glasses in ' The Jerk'. The chin strap is not as intuitive as similar from Shoei or Arai. Overall, I like it.
Good you and your bike are okay. I'm deciding between the 1400 and K6. K6 seems just a bit overpriced. Also debating if I should go with a helmet that has a visor, not sure if the replaceable smoke visors will be too dark to always have on for my liking.
Nice vid 👍. I’ve had a K6 for about 6 months now. It’s a very good fit and the weight is what attracted me to it. The visor release is a real pain in the backside and I’ve ended up unscrewing the metal tap off the visor to get rid of it!
Great review! Straight to the point with all the information we need and none of the nonsense you usually get in these reviews. You just earned yourself a subscriber sir!
I own this helmet and can attest to its quality and fit , the fit is due to the knowledgeable staff at SportsBikeShop , without them I would have purchased the wrong size . You really don't know its on and its pretty quiet but i do wear earplugs as well . Visibility ie field of view is very good and I'm sure I don't have to turn my head as much to do a lifesaver check. Paint finish is top notch and the visor feels solid. Only gripe and its minor , to unlock the visor takes a little longer to find with a gloved hand but Im getting better at it. Solid 8/10 buy.
190 horizontal view, is there good helmet with 200-220, hate to see egdes of the helmet. This one is not bad but still blocks peripheral view little bit.
In reality humans field of vision is about 180 degrees (there is far peripheral vison at the outer edges may stretch wider, but you'll pick up less information). You cannot see the edges of this helmet in your peripheral vision in this helmet when looking forward.
@@mancavemoto i tried it, and I see edges little bit when looking straight. But it is ok, vertical is blocked much more in full face helmets which bothers me too :). We see up to 220 degrees, so would be good to see all, in city traffic it is useful especially.
I found this helmet completely unusable. There is no room in the chin area, and you can easily push you lips into the front of the helmet. The nose guard also hits your nose. When getting into higher speeds the helmet pushes into your face and it's just not suitable for its application. I tried two different sizes as my friend also has one, and he reports the exact same issues. I'm surprised I've only seen a few people mentioning this.
That sounds like a very specific fit issue to your head shape. Helmets obviously fir people differently. I had no issue with chin space, but its something i have encountered with some Arai's in the past. You will get some push back on the helmet at speed, but if its pushing onto your face it sounds like the helmet is too big.
I was out looking specifically for this comment. It fits amazing when you try it in store, however the moment you are at speed its like you are pressed up against a glass door. Have you had any luck with any other helmet as we may have the same problem. I dont have that problem at all with the K3 but it would have been nice to have a better fitting upgrade.
@@englishxdave yeah I'm surprised others haven't experienced this issue. I bought the correct size for me as I've been riding for 10 years, I have a good understanding by now. The issue only really happens about 90+ mph on a superbike, likely much less on naked bikes. I'm going to go back to the Shoei NXR series as my previous one was perfect in every way. The NXR 2 is out now, definitely recommend you buy that.
thank you mr mancave for another great review. I especially like that you test ride the helmets more than once on the bike and even go through the motions of working the vents and visor controls. I like this helmet for quality, price, weight and you mentioned stability at high speed was good - that is important. Am replacing a 2009 SHARK full face and really do not know what a modern helmet is going to feel like - probably very good. The nightmare scenario is buying a modern helmet with new features and finding out in time that they don't work as well as claimed or are irritating to use with gloves. Looking also at the HJC RPHA 70 and the Shoei nxr 2 + gt air 2. All have decent ratings and appear to be decent choices for me as I mostly do technical sport riding or travel often to mtns 5 hrs away and need that touring/travel performance as well. From the HJC to the GT Air 2 is about a $200 dollar difference. If I can assume all will feel suitable after fitting, do you have an opinion on which one you prefer for either quality or value? THANKS!
No problem, yep my helmet reviews are done after many miles of riding in them. All the helmets you mention are good, so i guess its whatever one fits you the best and feels most comfortable, thats what will keep you happy on the bike
On naked bike at 60mph wind noise is reasonable soft. however after 60-90mph wind noise build up as speed increases. The weight is SOOO light, lighter than my open face helmet. haha Ez fix for without sun visor is with a sun glass. no biggie
Of course, but apart from safety, the other factors will depend quite a bit on the individual rider. This helmet is ECE22.06 compliant, so no issues around safety. Its light too which is good for all day riding
@@victoriavarlamthis helmet is alot different from the rpha 70. I own both. Actually i have the k6s. The K6s to me has more wind noise at hwy speeds. Super light. Super comfortable. Doesnt feel as robust as the rpha 70. Also the K6 has no internal visor.
Lovely video. The scenery is beautiful. A really comprehensive review. I’m interested, where are you based and where are you from? I’m a Hertfordshire boy who has found myself in South Wales.
Tossing up between this and the Arai Profile V.. This one is cheaper here in Australia. Interested to know what your thoughts are.. Great video btw, the best one on this helmet. Cheers
I've reviewed both and like both helmets. I would say the ventilation is marginally better on the Arai, BUT the weight of this helmet makes a real difference on long rides. I've been riding a naked bike recently and this is the helmet I tend to reach for more often....
I agree with everyone else that you did a great job with this review-one of the best I’ve seen and I’ve been down the rabbit hole for quite a while at this point. Great content 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I've always liked AGV lids, I've had a few over the years. Everyone has been well made and they stand up well in use. I must have an AGV shaped head as out of all the hemets I've ever owned thay have always fitted me the best.
A very good question and a really hard one to answer as they are both good helmets. I find both really comfortable, and I really like the low profile comms option with the K6. Personally I found the K6 slightly noisier with a screen, but I think its the one i'd pick
Great video. I'm currently shopping for a new helmet and the current amount of options make it very overwhelming to decide. I'm on a Street Triple so the buffeting/ noise is a big factor. Seem like this helmet was quieter when no screen was on the bike. I'll be considering this for my next lid.
Cheers, yes I’ve been riding in it more recently on an 890 Duke and it’s been excellent. Quiet, comfortable, wide vision and very light. I really like it on a naked bike.
Nice review ... I just picked up the Rossi K6 on sale with a silver mirrored visor included for just £220 all in!! Should be a worthy upgrade from my current near 5 year old K5-S
The AGV is fitted for an Ark Sena comms. However, that is old tech and the Sena 50R is much better and will fit the helmet. The Ark would be a deal killer for me but fortunately the the 50R will work.
If you’re thinking of buying a comms unit, you may want to wait a month or two. I understand that sena is coming out with a new model that uses name brand speakers
Not sure whats changed on the KS6 unless it’s just now I guess an EC22.06 helmet? I’ve also not had the chance to try the NXR2 as Shoei seem to have gone off me 😂. For touring and long distance I’d choose the Quantic. Great ventilation and comfort, but the AGVs light weight and great vision are good selling points. The Arai probably pips it.
@@mancavemoto I've had a NXR1, loved it but my lips and chin kept touching at the front and with time it got unbearable. Went for my current Quantic, very comfortable sure, but too heavy and the viewing angles good enough, but not as good as de NXR1. So I'm looking at the K6 now, hence my question. Thanks for the quick reply 😉
@@mancavemoto went to a gear shop, the guy there pulled me from the AGV direction, he said it wasn't very well made and it would show in time a bad wear, I would be better served with a HJC for that matter. Tried the K6 and the RPHA 1 before he told me anything and felt just that, very disappointed with AGV. RPHA 1 wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but man, it looks the business, and wrapped my head like a glove, I'm in love. Didn't bought it... Yet
Well, I would argue with him about the ‘well made’ part, they are great quality. But the fit is the important bit, and if the HJC fits better that’s the one to go for.
The K1 is a thermoplastic shell, so it will be heavier. In terms of noise, the K6 has an improved liner that helps with the sound isolation. Fit is the key to how noisy a helmet is, so there is nothing to suggest that the K! would be any noisier without me trying it out.
A very good question, and a tricky one as i like them for different reasons. The K6 is lighter and has better peripheral vison, the Quantic has better ventilation and is probably a little nicer to wear all day long. It depends on what you want from a helmet I guess.
@@mancavemoto I own both the Quantic and K6, The K6 has a much more comfortable and high class inners, with a very good chin curtain. where the Quantic, is heavy, not so well ventilated due to the tiny hole in the back, and the switches on the top of the quantic, fell off within a short space of time. After 2 Arai, I was delighted with the K6 AGV.
@@mancavemoto thats good to hear ill be getting one next year. My friend hyped bloody ruroc up so hard I decided to get one and swapped from a k3-sv and god the wind noise and amount of noise ruroc 2.0 makes means i can hardly hear my mates on the shockwave system.
Thank you for making this great review! I think I will get me a K6 too. I just wonder whether I should go with size ML or L to fit my 60cm head. I've got a GT Air 2 size L with 31mm cheek pads. It's a snug fit, not perfect, but ok. It's still new though. Thank you best regards Michael
Cheers Michael, I have a GT air II as well in size large with the standard 35mm cheek pads. I found the ML to be a better fit than the L if thats helps
@@mancavemoto Thank you very much. I will give the ML a try. Got a X-903 Ultra Carbon on order too. I will decide which one I'll keep when both are here. From the looks and features I love both. Now I'm curious how they fit. Cheers Michael
I don’t know to be honest, AGV helmets are made in two factories one in Italy and another in China. Both are factories owned by Dainese with the same production and QC, I’m pretty sure it depends on the model as to which factory produces it
@@mancavemoto hi thanks i gues thats on iPhone? i have Samsung I did download the app but cant find ARK on it so tried Bluetooth but wont work ether but thank for the help very kind cheers
