Very inspiring to have an Israeli Arab orchestra singing Zain el Abedeen, a descendant of the prophet and an important religious figure. One day there may be peace.
Thank you very much!!! Actually this are steel strings, and the mandolin isn't designed to be oud like.. I guess its the different styles of music I've been exposed to, and the "cultural mixing", as you said, that developed my way of playing... Thank you again for the warm words!
Why are we talking about politics? I'm an Arab and a musician. So all Arabs in here that are talking crap, please stop and go burn a flag somewhere else. This is a music video, a beautiful one. Not a political debate!
Tom, this absolutely amazing, you are a virtuoso and put a lot of feelings in your music, bravo! I am Moroccan and can't help to be touched by the way you play. Now to those who love arguing and politicizing music, can't you guys either chill and and enjoy heartfelt music or get a room for political discussions leave music alone!
Shalom Tom... its always a pleasure listening to your performances again and again; I love how you make your mandolin sound like an oud in the taksim. Maybe this year I will buy an Arik Kerman(thanks for giving me his phone # last year!) mandolin like yours...Godwilling. Shalom Aleychem, Maestro. (Note: the comment i left in French was for all the ''ethnomusicologists'' (pseudo) who foolishly try to put tags on your beautiful Art)
u dont understand israel , i know its arabic but those ppl said its their culture they dream from a land from egyept to iraq ,they said even that this music belong to jews and the arabic food belong also to jews , u dont know them so shut up , and they said : our israli/andalusi music ! its a jock or not ? first of all they said : its urs , its ours , and then its my .
I would not recommend putting nylon strings on...first of all, the nylon strings won't fit through the nut, and the tension on the neck required to keep the instrument in tune will not be provided by nylon strings. It might sound cool, but you'll run into problems that I think will be slightly undesirable.
This is moroccan???!!! What a joke! It couldn't be more Algerian than this. It is true that, the orchestra in question brought into play few very slight variations, than the Algerian "Touchiat" et "incirafates",but the overall structure of the melody is a 100% Algerian product.
the original music is definitely Egyptian but he made such a mixture with north Africa's countries music. not bad but not acceptable for people who have heard the original.
you're sick:) it's a moroccan song, this musical scale is called "Al Hijaz El Mashiriqi". this scale is used in the moroccan andaloussian music and not in the algerian music ;) poor one:p
You are upset because an Israeli musivian plays an arabic melody? Don´t you see the song title? Is that hebrew? of course not! it is arabic! So, this is not stealing. Any musician can play what he/she wishes as long as the originality of the music is mentioned! Would you be upset if a british composer played this song? Stop talking about Falafel and Humus!! We have them in Kurdistan too!! It is very stupid subject!
some streets name in israel stay in the arabic name and some of them changed to jewish names , thats mean they havent stolen palestine ? dont be stupid to say yes
