“Not to toyland, it’s to the big dirt nap” 😂 That was classic. This was an awesome presentation and those figures look amazing on those cards lined up next to each other!
Thank you for this episode and the previous episode of this subject. I've been a collector of AHI since the late 90s and later mid 2000s. As I joined the UMA( Universal Monster Army) that re-sparked my interest in collecting, AHI, Remco, Imperial, Fun Stuff, Lincoln and Aurora Universal Monsters. Raymond. Due to your In Love with Toys and Monster website( the name escapes me, at the moment) that had a big influence on me collecting Monsters again. Thank you.🤘🏻
Thank you very much! The website is The Gallery of Monster Toys. It costs me a lot of money each year to keep that 1990s website online. I'm glad some people are still visiting it and enjoying it.
Yes, I don't know how that caught on like it has. I'd love to own one, but I don't have such a passion for it that I would make the sacrifice necessary to obtain one. If I had that much cash, I'd probably blow it on a synthesizer that I'd rarely play. But I could look at it sitting there and say, "aah."
Thank you Raymond for these fantastic videos! Every topic you cover is really nostalgic and interesting. A lot of these toys I had as a kid and almost forgot about them and what a wave of nostalgia hit me when I saw them again! Thank you sir❤👍🎃
I've heard that Universal, for a long time, didn't even realize they owned the character. But there was a Universal-style Hyde mask from Don Post in the 1960s. It's not much, but at least we got that! Mr. Hyde is not even on the Aladdin lunchbox/thermos. They really dropped the ball on him. The Aurora model kit does not appear to be based on the Universal version. It has elements of the Universal Hyde, and elements of Fredric March, but it's not really either one. The box art is more Fredric March and the sculpt is more Universal. But really, it's a generic Hyde. If Aurora had made it a licensed Universal Hyde model kit, I think we would have seen more Hyde merchandise in the 60s and 70s. All these companies seemed to follow Aurora's lead.
Great episode as usual! I’m an avid AHI fan as I think a lot of us monster kids are! I love hunting down all the variants! I am in awe of your collection! I don’t own any carded AHI’s. Loved it!
Thank you! If I ever want to return to collecting AHI variations, I will probably have to buy loose figures. I actually considered bidding on a few some weeks ago. They went up higher than I felt comfortable spending, which would probably be the case with any loose AHIs I might want.
Great video Raymond ! I don't own any AHi monsters, but I would love to have some one day. I wasn't very familiar with AHi, until I started watching your channel. Thanks for all the information. Keep up the good work, Sir !
Thank you! Start with a loose Frankenstein or Dracula figure, maybe a Bend 'Ems or jiggler, then work your way up the ladder of price/rarity until you own a carded Creature water gun. Just remember, once you climb that high, don't look down.
Loving the video! It was a very stressful day as I had to rush one of my rescue cats to the vet as he is in critical condition. I was immersed in that for most of the day, so it was nice to settle the mind down a bit and enjoy this video. Great to hear your next video will include Remco line (my favorite!) would love to pick up a Toy Ventures on the Remco line if that’s in the cards.
Thank you! As far as I know, Toy Ventures has not covered the Remco Monsters. I checked, as I wanted to use the article as research for my upcoming episode. But there is no article as of yet.
@@RaymondCastile I got it for £13.19 I was lucky, I think it was a reissue, I grew up with the movie, I have a few movie scores and soundtracks, I have my video games, movies and music cd's not a fan of the digital future heading our way, I'd love to get the original fright night score/soundtrack, the burbs, one that seems to be available digital only is the dark knight returns, I always listen to a soundtrack and score on RU-vid before I buy! Have both blade runner scores on cd, again I really enjoyed your video yesterday, be safe my friend :)
Oh, yes....those figures bring back memories. The only AHI toy I still have is the wonderful Lost In Space Robot they put out. I even still have the box. I had the Frankenstein up to a few years ago, but got too good an offer and had to let it go. Great presentation, as usual, Ray.
Great episode. It’s funny… my entire collecting arc can be traced to coming across the Ahi Creature and Mummy sections of the GOMT when I was a grad student in my early twenties. So in an indirect way, you finding your old Ahi Creature was a prophetic moment for us both. MJ
Thank you, my friend! What would your life be like if I had not held onto that Creature and taken an interest in it in my young adulthood? To what end would you direct your energy?
Super excited to wake up on my off Friday (we do 9/80 schedule) and see this video and it’s a long one!! Yes! AHi are my favs in my collection as well. Thanks for posting this. 🎉😊
@@RaymondCastile9/80 is when you work a 9Hr work day and get every other Friday off. That schedule has been growing on me….nice to have alternate Fridays off. Thank you for these fun 2hr videos. I personally look forward to long videos on topics I enjoy.
As always, another awesome episode. I don't remember these monsters in stores. However, I do remember searching for a Jawa and later on a Yoda, like you said, that were harder to find for awhile. Thank you. Take care.
I guess I need to add the Kong figures to my list of grails now! That Wolfman jiggler actually reminds me of the wolfman character from Hilarious House of Frightenstein, which aired from 1971-1974. Could that have been an inspiration?
Who knows? I'm looking at photos of that werewolf online. I don't see a strong resemblance to the AHI toy. But anything is possible. Some people have speculated that some of the AHI Wolfman artwork was inspired by Paul Naschy stills or poster art.
I use a Shure wired lav. It does a good job for the price. I hate all the high frequency hiss on my videos. I use noise reduction while editing. The files on my computer do not sound like that. I think RU-vid compression makes the hiss more pronounced. I see that most people's videos do not have that hiss. I wonder if better quality microphones could solve that problem, or if it has nothing to do with the microphone and more to do with compression and EQ.
There are 2 Kong water guns on the card on ebay for $ 400 and $ 700. One has a yellow trigger one has red. I just got my childhood Kong from '73 copyright Jiggler in mint shape for under $ 20 with shiipping. I did have The Creature, Mummy Jigglers also back in "74.
I mistakenly said the other trigger color was black or brown...though I did indicate that I wasn't sure. I just knew there was a color variation. That's a great price on the Kong jiggler.
I'm a 70s kid. These beautiful AHI toys are from the 70s! I consider the later Remco monster figures to be 70s toys that forgot to set their alarm clock and woke up in the 80s. Got to watch that Daylight Savings TIme.
I'm sure GI Joe, Star Wars, TMNT and a few other toy lines would beg to differ. It's probably my favorite toy line, though. The Lincoln monsters would come second.
I'm sure they didn't! Last fall, I talked on the show about a nightmare I had that involved Curse of Bigfoot. I was trapped in the Skinamarink house with the Curse of Bigfoot monster, being chased from room to room, unable to get out. Finally, Bigfoot cornered me. I turned into the Hulk and woke up. I like imagining that, somewhere in Dreamland, the Hulk is pulverizing Curse of Bigfoot and tearing apart the Skinamarink house.
Aw, man, thank you. Honestly, without your contributions, I would have had a very hard road ahead of me. Yes, I still have a small stack of first printing issue 1s.
If i may, I really think you should request to be buried alongside that creature AHI figure far into the future when the time comes haha. It's amazing how well it still holds.💚
I hope you ok everything? Can you play music piano again me too long time ago and nightmare poster my bedroom since in 1980's 😅 anyway you show us your living room kitchen dining and basement ok ?
I still prefer to think of the thin waisted Creature as a female because the Gillman deserves a lady friend after everything he went through in the movies
Yes! I have one. I don't open boxes, so you're not going to see the actual toy in the episode. Maybe I can get someone else to shoot some video of their opened NECA Monsterizer.
In 20 years, I'll probably be too old to care. Anyone concerned about the resell value of these toys had better divest themselves in the next 10 years.
