Well speaking as someone who deployed to Afghanistan when I was in the U.S Army, I can tell you from experience that those things have excruciatingly painful bites. Being swarmed by hundreds of them could probably kill a man, the ones in this scene are much larger than the ones I saw in the Middle East too.

Movie would've been infinitely more interesting if Nick would've decided to run the show with Ahmanet. It would've gotten a sequel for sure.

That is gorgeous...first flowing robes, then painted toes and painted hand and she is beautiful

So, uh, why didn't they cut all the chains after putting her in there so she couldn't be brought back up so easily? Why leave a winch system designed to lift her right out of her prison in place if they wanted to make sure she couldn't escape?

The sarcophagus rising was an amazing sequence & the reveal (liquid mercury dripping off + a golden sarcophagus) was memorizing.

This scene was just them stating what it wasn't then what it actually is. "It's not a tomb, it's a prison" "Thos aren't for holding pulling her up, they're for holding her down"

Honestly the movie and the whole universe they tried to barf at us was so dumb, but this scene detailing the whole tomb complex was AWESOME levels of creepy historical aesthetic

This is just my opinion mind you, but I really don't understand why this flick gets so much hate. It is NOT a remake, it is its own movie with its own characters, story line, etc. The 1999 "The Mummy" as awesome as it is, isn't even an original in its own right! In fact, it's a remake of the 1932 movie starring Boris Karloff. As for historical and mythological inaccuracies, well when has Hollywood ever been known for complete accuracy? LOL That being said, here's a fun fact: The 2017 "The Mummy" was originally going to be a continuation of the franchise with Brendan Fraser, with the O'Connell's in Latin America battling an Aztec mummy (whom was going to be played by Antonio Banderas).

This movie by itself wasn't bad but it is compared to its predecessors-despite its flaws, this scene and tomb design were super cool. Very mysterious and mythological but unfortunately this is the only time in the movie it feels like that

The Ancient Egyptians were very big on making sure their funeral rites were done properly to ensure a proper rest in the afterlife. If they built a tomb where it was not done properly (canopic jars, sacred spells, guardian statues), it's a good indicator that whoever is buried there was not very nice in life.

I don't care what all the critics say: this version of The Mummy is good, whether Tom Cruise was in it or not. Maybe Brendan Frasier should have been in it as Nick's friend and Egyptologist or have Imhotep be the other mummy fighting Ahmanet for power and domination.

It’s 2021 and I am watching RU-vids recommendations. I remember when this movie came out and Universal was trying to cash in and catch-up with Marvels success. I didn’t really care for the whole “Dark Universe” idea, but to Tom’s credit he made sure he had final say on the script and the editing and the previews.

OKAY ! Many know this without telling it ! But this is kinda of the ultimate trend in horror movies that just lived on. Every time when the characters progress enough into the movie, or just close enough to get to the monster, either serving to release it, anger it or only to say hello, THIS SHIT HAPPENS (2:47). Out of nowhere the group(or at least the 'one' guy) just has to be pushed a little off with some incoherent dead line (this movie), some dumbass desire for personal gain in someone (again this movie) or even an out of nowhere scandal (kinda) just to make the 'shmuks', I mean characters serve any of the purposes I just mentioned. Monster movie that doesn't give enogh shit to make the introduction of its titular monster right. No, the plot RELIED on STUPIDITY to introduce the monster. And even if the bullshit deadline didn't happen, Ahmanet still would've been released ! Why ? Well because, Tom Cruise has to Tom Cruise - 2:51 Shoot, 2:54 What have I done? - He can't control it, you know.

I don’t understand why people feel the need to compare two strong female characters. Both are beautiful, both have unique beauty, both have different things to bring to the table.
