Yeah? Right? I just wanted to see discussion about one of my favorite League of Legends characters. The poor beautiful young woman must have suffered so much and must be suffering more in that universe! Even though she isn’t even real.

Yeah, the lack of empathy towards her feels kind of odd to me. Her story makes me feel sad and I can't understand why everyone would laugh about it and be horny. It is a beautiful tragedy.

Well I don’t, I feel bad for the poor young woman. She must have suffered so much, but I get the points where she seductive and attracts unsuspecting victims to consume their life essence or souls, which I really don’t like that about her, but what I find interesting and in compensation of that flaw out of the flaws about her, she regrets it after she commits the act. I believe that inside, she’s sad and wants to live a normal life and doesn’t want to harm anyone and she can’t get away from what she is.

Except it's not. It's a natural character evolution from her initial concept. She was orignally a fox succubus who prayed on human souls so she could maintain human form. She eventually regretted her actions because she saw the memories of her prey and it eventually gave her a moral compass. It's literally not that different than what they changed it to for the cohesive overarching lore and world building. Only new parts are she canonically had a lover for a time and her personality and backstory elements are pushed further away from just being Eve 2.0, playing harder into her inner turmoil. Like this isn't like Varus where they literally redo his entire character from the ground up with retcons. (Shoot. Old Varus would've been a perfect way to introduce the aspect of the lesser demons that Yone hunts). Or Galio whose an entirely new character post rework.

@@amandaslough125 It's still a major retcon to change her from the japanese folklore equivalent of a succubus to just a normal "vastaya" which was a race riot just made up when they released xayah and rakan. They retconned Ahri, Nami, Fizz, Wu, and a couple others to try to pretend that vastaya always existed when they were never mentioned prior to the birb couple's release.

@@DemonEyeHelix it’s a hell of a lot more interesting considering they had already made this entire new world. It would be super boring if they just left it as “yeah she’s basically just a fox spirit” instead of finding ways to coherently write these things in and give them names. Basically I’m in favor of it because it makes their world feel more like a world of it’s own rather than just a copy of ours

@@Blamo_ More interesting or not, the point is that riot is openly willing to completely scrap and redo older champions' lore in favor of new ones. When Pyke was first being made, Riot couldn't come up with good lore for him, so their plan was to literally take Nautilus' lore and give it to Pyke, then give Nautilus some shitty uninspired lore to replace it. This got out and the community was pissed and Riot ended up not going through with that plan. Worst thing you can do with fantasy lore is prove at every possible chance that nothing in the lore is concrete and next month Jarvan could be Runeterra's version of Hitler and Garen is a death knight.
