Ahsoka Episode 6 - VISUALLY STUNNING! - Angry Review 

I liked the part where he looked really serious at Sabine and said "you gambled on your galaxy just for a chance to bang Ezra?"

For anyone curious, Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn) was also the actor for Russian President Petrov in House of Cards. This role in Ahsoka must have felt right at home for him, as both roles saw him playing a intimidating, dangerous and cunning thug in a seat of absolute power. His mannerisms and stature fit these roles naturally.

So is it me? Or is Shin like... The best padawan?! She isn't brash and forward like Obiwan... Or Arrogant and dismissive like Anakin, she listens to her master. And Baylan, He is the master "Jedi" that fans wanted... Strong, passionate, and stoic. He is reserved, and when he speaks you listen, and what he has to say matters.

The fact that Thrawn said to Morgan, who's this jedi? Tell me everything about her and her master had me excited to see Thrawn's reaction to Ahsoka being Anakin's padawan and to see how that interactions going to play out.

I don't know what is was, but something about Thrawn's Stormtroopers, namely the cracked, dirty armor, made them look so much more intimidating than regular stormtroopers

I don’t want to get overhyped like a Star Wars fan, but thrawn asking about Ashoka’s background including her master excites me. Thrawn knew anakin, knew Vader, and knew Vader was anakin. And if there’s a chance we get a flashback of thrawn and one of them (unlikely) I’ll die.

I love how Filoni just doesn't let Sabine use the force, bro is trolling Sabine in every episode

I am absolutely loving Kevin Kiner's music for the series. I am so glad they got him for live action. He's a genius. Although I loved Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2, this show is my favorite so far. Filoni has brought beloved animation characters to live action successfully.

Having served in the U.S. Navy, I can tell that older high ranking officers have the same body shape are Thrawn.

I do not mind Thrawn being horizontally challenged, the actor wholly makes up for it

If Balen is to be re cast (assuming he survives),how about Rory McCann who played the hound in Game of Thrones taking over the role. He has the physical presence, is in the same age range, and we know he can play deeply cynical but ultimately caring characters.

I'm 100% with Alex, the "Cargo" that was being loaded onto the hyperspace ring did look awfully casket shaped/sized, it would make perfect sense for them to be bringing a bunch of dead sisters or Zabracks (Darth mauls people) who are also closely tied to the Night sisters as priorly both had their homeworld as Dathomir.

Lars is truly scary as live action Thrawn, and I'm convinced his army is undead. Btw did anyone notice the Star Trek sound effects on the Eye Of Sion?

Lars Mikkelsen returning as Thrawn was the best part of this episode, for me, as his voice and mannerisms were perfect.

So wait, Ezra was that close to the Nightsisters, they can take notice of Ahsoka's approach in the Space Whales but couldn't locate Ezra🤔. Also why did the Nightsisters identify Sabine as a Jedi when she can't even use the force?

What really struck me was the use of kintsugi on the trooper armour. The Japanese practice of using gold to fill in gaps from broken items, to allow them to be used again. I thought it was a real cool metaphor for Thrawns admiration for art and history, whilst also having a practical application; isolated and unable to replace equipment it retains capability. Would it be too much to think that Bendu could play a role here? Thrawn was visibly shaken by his encounter with it, an unknown that was beyond his understanding. I’m intrigued tbh! Can’t wait for the next episode.

And y'all thought this was gonna be a filler politics episode lol. Glad they surprised us all with such a great episode.

It’s not well explained, but I think the implication is that the Purgill showing up in the Mandalorian, and then the events in Ahsoka, is that we are seeing a rare migration of Purgill that only happens every (however long Ezra has been gone). That’s why they are all there, and that’s why they all are going to Peridea. It would have been cool for that to be explained better.

best they can do for Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati is to continue their story in animation form. They can recast using a voice actor while they look for a real life replacement for Baylan. If for some reason they cant find someone to replace Baylan, I guess they can finally write the Baylan character off before the movie comes out. Also what would turn Shin Hati to the good side would be Baylan death in the hands of Thrawn or the Night Sisters

Everyone is asking whether these stormtroopers are undead, but aren't asking what killed this many of them. I wonder if this is going to hint of the return of the Yuuzhan Vong.

And for those that have been living under a rock, just a reminder that Lars Mikkelsen is the younger brother of Mads Mikkelsen. Like the Skarsgard's from Sweden, the Mikkelsen's are an acting family from Denmark with titanic amounts of talent - Lars, Mads, Henning are all actors while Lars and Mads's mom is a costumer and wardrobe artist. And any Star Wars fan can tell you some of the most memorable characters have been those played by Mads Mikkelsen and Stellan Skarsgard.... and now we have Thrawn played by Lars.

Thrawn's clothes being immaculate compared to the Stormtroopers armour having been repaired and patched up haphazardly so many times was such a cool visual.

Im just hyped to see a followup movie series with Thrawn. I'm hoping we get that. This episode just has me soo hyped. Thrawns return with his night troopers was soooo good.

The patience in Alex is unreal.

My nit pick is definitely how small the galaxy comes across……. Plus it doesn’t help how small the planet itself felt. Was Ezra just chilling a few miles away ? I hope they at least mention some other planets that exist in this galaxy and maybe some of the power/political structures there. Obviously can’t get into too much exploration of it but a little exposition would help give it life instead of it feeling like just another planet…. (Unless maybe they’ll save all that for a new trilogy, the one we deserve lol)🤞

Sabine didn't actually block a shot with the light saber. Alex is getting old and misremembering 😂😂 She blocked shots with beskar... Alex hatred for Sabine has clouded his judgement!! 😂

I really hope they get Timothy Zahn (who created Thrawn character) to work with Dave Filoni that way we get the perfect character and the most faithful Heir to the Empire adaptation as possible! Maybe even see a certain Redhead purple saber wielder 😉...

I love the synergy between Alex and Joe, they agree or disagree or both and it’s awesome.

Question: Is it just me or is the music of Ahsoka just incredibly reactive to the scenes? I feel that the orchestra is sitting watching the episode adding the music live. So good, so addaptive and alive. Fantastic.

The experience is so different when you didnt watch rebels and your not theory crafting . If you just watch this series the pacing is real bad and dialog is almost non-existant. This show really needed a script doctor to make these character 3 dimensional, instead of just relying on seasons of rebels.

Basic competence is what passes for masterclass now with star wars?!

I haven’t watched rebels yet and don’t really know much lore but just the presence thrawn brings is chilling, he demands everyone’s attention without even raising his voice and when he asks for background on Ashoka that gave me chills. Its so cool how his troopers are these broken and decrepit versions of the clean trooper armor we normally see. It adds this contrast between thrawn and his soldiers that builds this unease with him and I love it. Also making baylan and shin have this mysterious arc, its so interest. Also the interaction between Ashoka and huyang was great.

I hope we get to see the Yuuzhan Vong in this series Thrawn was ready to dip so fast and when he said I've already lost too many forces I got so excited no one's ever put him in a position of fear.

The gold armor on the troopers is a reference to the art form called Kintsugi. It’s done by repairing things with gold. I thought that was pretty cool.

I would like to see a Darth Nihilus type entity. It could be feeding on the sisters which is why they fear it. Could be neat if done well.

The way they can fix baylyn passing away in real life is just give him a mask and voice modulator. Rest in piece he was my favorite part of the show

I believe the reason the Night Sisters have made a deal with Thrawn is yes something they fear is coming and they want off the planet or system.

I can see past Thrawn being kinda chubby, the guy is like 68-70 years old at this point in time. He still looks pretty good for his age, especially for someone who is stranded billions of lightyears away from home with only a busted up ship, a legion of possibly dead stormtroopers, and Enoch with his Roman funerary mask. I'm confused why there weren't any navy personnel/officers seen either, since there are more of those guys on star destroyers than storm troopers so it's odd they aren't seen in the crowd, maybe we'll see them and it's going to reveal they are actually undead or show that there was a mutiny and there was a disagreement of some sort which made the storm troopers fight with the remaining navy personnel

I dont understand why Joe is Simping so hard for this show. Because they sprinkled some "member Berries" and choclate chips over this turd that is the script does not make the show Good or smart. Star wars will never be back, if they keep needing to refer previous ideas and movies just to get your thumbs....up??? Making Sabine a upcoming Padawan / Jedi / Mandalorian is just dumb, and the meeting between Ezra and Sabine not getting the characters to figger out first if they had or was a thing or if Sabine and Asoka was a thing... honestly. I respected Joe's opinions but this is just dumb.

The biggest problem is the Force itself. That's why Kreia hated the Force because the Force uses everyone. That's why the Wars never end.

Calling it now, in the last 3 mins of the last episode, Boba Fett rocks up on the slowest moving space moped, 360 no scopes Thrawn and then hovers awkwardly away. Hit to end credits, you heard it here firs.

There’s just something about the live action version of Sabine that isn’t doing it for me. I don’t know if it’s her line delivery, her fights, or something else but the Thrawn entrance scene was for sure the best scene of the show so far. I also love how Baylan doesn’t seem intimidated by Thrawn at all. Hopefully we see some tension between those two

This episode really made me think they could have made the sequel trilogy based on a powerful enemy coming from this galaxy to invade and be an enemy to the new republic. They could have had new styles of enemy with new designed soldiers/crafts, new ways of wielding the force and been a real threat. If you wanted to include some of the nostalgia you could have had Luke rebuild a version of the Jedi order and be the guide to some new Jedi fighting against the invasion. Good writers could have come up with a compelling reason for why they wanted to invade and built new stories around that. The way Baylan was talking about the power he felt and he could have been the catalyst for bringing them to the galaxy. Also the new republic could have shown that despite some flaws, they we’re uniting planets and things were working ok until they had a new fight on their hands. Instead we are stuck with a rehashed story with the empire mk2 and bringing tired villains back from the dead. I feel the only way to build a new story now is to leave Ahsoka and co in this new galaxy where they have a blank slate to start fresh.

So in an entirely different galaxy , on a huge alien planet , sabine finds ezra in less time than it takes me to clean my appartment and go to the local shops . Hera, sabine and ahsoka act like theyre on valium or have long covid .

Sabine sacrificed a galaxy to save Ezra but when reunited opens with quips. No emotion. No humanity. Just a bro hug. It’s so awkward

So this is something I noticed the 2nd time watching this episode. When the great mothers have the scene where they say it reeks like Jedi and restrain Sabine…. I think it wasn’t about Sabine….. think about it. Sabine isn’t a Jedi and the only Jedi actually there is baylan “former Jedi” Then of course with baylans alternative plans compared to Thrawns and when Sabine is being hauled off they zoom is on baylan and he almost looks nervous for once. Fast forward to the next scene with thrawn arrival when he says “general baylan of the Jedi order” the great mothers then look up surprised. I think there’s a few twists coming our way

She was blocking blaster fire with her arm, but when she uses a lightsaber it's inconceivable for Alex?

Erza rejected the idea of taking back his light saber is stupid. It's Yours! For crying out loud. He chose that crystal as a Padawan.

Soon as you said who should play him. I thought it and you said it. Liev Schreiber. They should recast, assuming the character survives the story. Ashoka gives me a new hope for the future of starwars

I've been waiting five years for Ezra's return and Filoni did not disappoint! Special praise to Eman Esfandi for his acting. I immediately recognized him as Ezra, but with a beard. His brief but satisfying reunion with Sabine felt so natural to me. It was like two friends meeting up after a long time like no time has passed. On another note, I was a little disappointed that the Noti (the turtle aliens) lived in mobile homes. I was half hoping that Ezra was LITERALLY hiding under a rock this whole time. 😆

The witches were founded by an Exiled Jedi. I think They're going to explore the lore of this exiled jedi. "This Allya was a rogue Jedi, the Old Republic did not want to execute her, so the Jedi exiled her, hoping that given time she would turn away from the dark side." LUKE SKYWALKER Allya was a female Human rogue Jedi Knight of the Old Republic. She was expelled from the Jedi Order and exiled to a penal colony on Dathomir. Encountering the other former exiles, she used the planet's strong life energy to teach the colony's women to master the Force. These women became the Witches of Dathomir and Allya was their founder.

A big oversight that I saw was that after Sabine's fight with the bandits, her blasters magically appeared in her holsters. Literally right after the fight when she bent down to inspect the viewfinder, they were already reholstered. The time stamp in the episode is like 25:45 Just kinda lazy editing in my eyes.

Now, we obviously don't know what happened within the 10-year gap, But I'm a bit confused about why Thrawn has let Ezra run wide over those ten years. You would think he would make it his mission to beat the one person who beat him so that he can't do it again. Or at the very least become a threat at a later date.

I’m not a Star Wars Lore buff, but is there any chance they could almost retcon the Disney sequel by having it that time moves much slower in this galaxy compared to the other so by the time they get back to their own galaxy, 50 or so years have passed and places the timeline after the Disney sequel?

I have to agree with Alex in that Sabine is still getting on my nerves. She's perpetually ungrateful and had no accountability. It's hard to cheer for her. I get that she has to suck a little so they can develop her character, but it seems like she's more or less getting everything she wants so far. I'm hoping there are harsh consequences for her actions to teach her a lesson, harsher than just a bunch of unnamed rebels dying when Thrawn returns. She seems ridiculously stubborn so her simply saying sorry and being a better person won't work. Something real bad needs to happen for her to have believable growth.
