When you think about it Anakin spent his time as a Padawan in an era of peace, as did Obi-Wan and most other Jedi. Ahsoka didn't have that, she spent her teenage years, her latter Padawan years at war, she was at war when she left the Jedi order, she was at war when she became a young woman. While a typical Jedi get's to finish their training before going off to their duties as a knight, Ahsoka's training was on the battlefield.
peace? not exactly Maul was after him seperatist war going on and he was involved in it. few years later his mother died a horrible death and involved again in another war in geneosis and so on.
@@KrazyEight Galactic peace and Geonosis was when Anakin was 19 and he was a Knight just after. He wasn't fighting on battlefields as a child. He had a troubled early childhood yes, but it wasn't war. And everything from 9 to 19 was peaceful.
I never realized until I started watching everyone react to the episode, but Ahsoka crosses her arms in unconscious imitation of her master. That moment when she and Anakin are standing together on Mandalore was when it finally clicked. She's been doing that since the second season of TCW if I remember correctly, and now it suddenly makes sense. The fact that Rosario was doing that in her first appearance in The Mandalorian does credit to her interpretation of the character.
I think that really was Anakin as a Force ghost. He admitted he didn't recognize the Siege of Mandalore and he appeared there as a mentor to train her further. It's also clearly post-RotJ Anakin because he's clearly mastered using both the dark side and the light side of the Force (being the chosen one, after all).
This is facts, Anakin was like Darth Revan in that sense, since in the Old Republic era Revan did the same thing. Also, there’s one chosen one. Revan is the chosen for Old Republic era, while Anakin was the chosen one of his era.
Exactly the only reason he didn’t have the blue glow was because they were in the world between worlds. In ROTJ he is projecting himself into the living world.
Another clue is "I have heard that before", refering to how Luke said he didn't want to fight him in ROTJ. Ahsoka wouldn't have known that, thus it's unlikely to be her imagination.
I saw in a video somewhere that Anakin has transcended and become a being akin to the Ones (the Father) or even the Force priestesses. His ability to pull Ashoka into the WBW and alter aspects of that place, shift their physical appearances, lightsabers, surroundings, as well as to summon and then cast off the Vader persona suggests whatever Anakin has become he can wield the Force far beyond the abilities of any Jedi at this point. Remember that this was not just an illusion in Ashoka's mind...it actually happened because Jaden sensed it.
I like the way Anakin helps Ahsoka with her issues and overcoming her darkness the same way he did against Palpatine this shows that both Anakin and Ahsoka have a stronger bond that no one can't break and it helps Ahsoka to transform herslef from Ahsoka the Grey to Ahsoka the White from Star Wars Rebels in my book I give this episode 10/10 and seeing the clone wars again but in live action was great, awesome and groundbreaking.
Those scenes with Anakin were absolutely PERFECT! When he ignited that red lightsaber I literally said “oh shit.” Some of those lightsaber hits just reminded you have how powerful he was. Those flashes between him and Vader gave me chills. With that armor he looked EXACTLY like Clone Wars Anakin. Hayden was on a whole other level of epicness and I loved every single second of it. Something else that I want to make sure is highlighted is the music. It was perfect and fit those scenes very, very well. I love how Ashoka seemed more hopeful when she woke up. Like she FELT like the Ashoka that we have always known. That scene with the Purrgil was glorious. The ending of this episode felt like the end of Empire Strikes Back. “Don’t worry, we’ll find them.” I can see why they showed this in theaters. Some of those shots were so cinematically epic. For real, Dave Filoni needs to be in charge of everything Star Wars. This was probably some of my favorite Star Wars ever!
I mean there’s the choreography. Nick Gillard trained him in the prequels, the new guys are unknown to me but they seem to let Hayden choose some of the moves since he came from the best trained lightsaber crew ever devised.
This show makes me want Hayden to have a significant part in training future actors to do good saber choreography. While I personally enjoy many aspects of the sequels(Unpopular stance, I know), I'll be the first to admit the saber fights in the sequel trilogy are typically, at best, aggressively mediocre.
@@perrycarters3113 No, actually, the saber work in the sequels is outstanding and much more true to what would happen in an actual fight. The prequel fights are dances.
@@JAIstarkillerkid Star Wars is a space fantasy series with magic, laser swords, space travel, dozens of humanoid alien types and planets, and planet-sized space stations. You will forgive me if I do not look for much realism in the fight scenes involving said laser swords when wielded by people who use space magic. Practicality in lightsaber fights, in my opinion, should take a back seat to ensuring all fighters have a unique style, the fights portray those styles clashing, and it should be aesthetically pleasing to watch. As realistic as the Rey vs Kylo fights may be, and don't get me wrong, they do have some good moments, they feel clumsy by comparison, closer to the OT saber fights, which are a stark downgrade from the prequel fights. "Realistic" lightsaber duels would essentially just be pure fencing. There'd be no need for any wide swings, and they would, in fact, be deeply impractical.
@@perrycarters3113 I'm going to argue that they are proper fights built with dramatic intent, and the fight with the guards in TLJ was theatrical and sublime. I much prefer them. They harken back to the base the original fights were constructed on, measured samurai duels, as opposed to the Wuxia influence of the prequels. The sequel encounters are raw and savage, which I loved. You have your preference, I have mine. And, as a logical counter, "clumsy" is fine since Neither Rey nor Kylo had any REAL proper training (Luke didn't either) while the culture of technique on display in the prequels was the culmination of centuries. And, yes indeed, the prequel fights ARE showy and entirely impractical.
Pretty sure Thrawn will be the man antagonist of the movie Dave is doing that is the culmination of his Disney plus series. Great reaction. Rosaria nailed the Ahsoka mannerisms and facial expressions with Anakin. Great to see old Ahsoka back.
What was great was, she actually WAS her older self in her younger form and reflected it when that older version was coming through, she really mimicked Rosario well. I do wish they had a third actress for the Mandalore scene... I don't think Ariana aged up quite enough.
@@JAIstarkillerkidKeep in mind that the Clone Wars were only 3 years (22-19 BBY), so she wouldn't have aged that much, especially since Togruta live much longer than humans
@@foulroti had to keep thinking this.. while ahsoka looks much older in the seventh season.. she really isn’t that much older and she’s still pretty young.. so i feel like it works out.
@@foulrot True, but I'm using her difference in appearance (and height) as seen in Season 7, not to mention Rosario herself, as the basis for my comment. She's just visibly different on Mandalore. A lot happens between 14 and 17.
Memory of Anakin? Han: "That's not how the force works!" He is a Force ghost, they only appear transparent in the "real" world. Of course it makes more sense for Force ghosts to be more opaque in the world between worlds and Jedi Temples(The Grand Inquisitor/Temple Guard with Kanan).
This Anakin: You're old, I've heard that before(Luke told him I will not fight you), he didn't recognize the Siege Of Mandalore, his knowing smirks(he was having fun)
Seeing a live action young Ahsoka really really drives it home that she was a total child soldier. She was FOURTEEN at the start of it. She wanted to be a noble keeper of the peace but was forced to be a soldier.
When I first watched this episode last night, my jaw dropped when I saw Anakin and Ahsoka in their Clone Wars uniforms as well as seeing Captain Rex for a little. This episode is one of the most memorable episodes ever made in this show! Thank you Filoni, Lucasfilm, and Disney! 😊❤️
After seeing Ahsoka having a moment of catharsis with her master, and letting go of her guilt and pain to more fully embrace the Light Side, Rosario Dawson now truly has become the Ahsoka we remember from Clone Wars! I loved how this episode showed the more of the fact that Ahsoka was sadly both a Jedi AND a child soldier. What’s more is that while while the Jedi were taught to not form attachments to people, she and her master clearly cared for not just their men but their friends and family. And while Anakin failed and fell to the Dark Side because he couldn’t let go of those he loved, Ahsoka succeeded and not only learned to let go and move on, she has now risen and has now become tied with Luke Skywalker for me as the greatest Jedi of life time. This is also easily the best performance Hayden has ever given as Anakin, he actually felt more like Anakin from the Clone Wars than the movies. I honestly never thought I would see LIVE ACTION scenes of Clone Wars, or even Hayden in Anakin’s Clone Wars armor!
Something I love is that not only did she get the outfit change to show a shift, but her entire demeanor is different. She seems happy and confident. And the music at the end is just *chefs kiss*
Every CW fans dream come true! Seeing the Siege of Mandalore with Rex, and the Super Commandos in live action was amazing. But it would have been great to see Bo and her Night Owls fighting with the clones. It could have helped casuals connect the dots as to how they know each other.
Someone else I've watched pointed this out, but did you notice that Ahsoka's mission changed? Until this moment Ahsoka's entire mission was stopping Thrawn. And just before they jumped she tells Hera"I promise you I'll bring them back.". That is HUGE! The whole tension she had in the last episode with Sabine was because their missions were not in sync she felt it was better to abandon Ezra than slow thrawn's return. Now she didn't even mention thrawn
I loved how this episode showed more of the fact that Ahsoka was sadly both a Jedi AND a child soldier. What’s more is that while while the Jedi were taught to not form attachments to people, she and her master clearly broke that rule and cared for not just their men but their friends and family. The difference is that while Anakin failed and fell to the Dark Side because he couldn’t let go of those he loved, Ahsoka succeeded and learned to let go and move on. I see why Filoni released this episode in theaters and it was a test run for his movie he's going to direct with Favreau. The remarks from those that saw it in theaters was that the experience was 5X times more engaging and they can't wait to see a movie by Filoni.
I have no words. First they mentioned Senator Organa, then Kanan Jarrus, Jacen, Clone Wars flashbacks, Rex, Anakin vs Ahsoka🥺🥺Filoni is doing an excellent work and Kiner music too 💜 I screamed and cried 🥺 Love your reaction
This episode was amazing , I really thought they could not top last weeks but they truly did despite no Baylen and Shin this week , the actress who played young Ahsoka is the actress who played young Gamora if Avengers Infinity War .
I wouldn’t be surprised if Thrawn only appears at the end of episode 8 - a cliffhanger for season 2 - or perhaps the eye of Scion entering warp for the return journey
Episode 7, Disney has set up a pattern of the big reveal in the penultimate episodes of all their series. Like how the Book of Boba Fett led into season 3 of Mandelorian, this will lead into season 4 which will lead into the movie.
The moment that big whale started floating up kinda reminds me of The Matrix Revolutions where the machine rose up past Neo. I wonder if they got the idea of the whale rising up from that but this was a amazing episode and graduation for Ashoka. And Hayden Christensen still got the moves lol. Awesome reaction you two 🔥❤😍👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
you know what i loved? usually in movies adults ignore kid with abilities. like "don't distract me i'm thinking". here hera KNOWS what the force is and she trusts her son completely
love that iconic shot of anakin turning to vader then back to anakin. especially when anakin has clones and allies around him at first, and then when it changes to vader he’s all alone
I think Hera could hear the lightsabers because she let herself be open to it, and maybe because she has a parental bond with Jacen that helps. No matter what, I presume she accepting of Force things because she got used to it first with Kanan, and maybe she has been seeing hints in Jacen before this.
On the second skirmish, Anakin came later and said, "I don't know this battle". Yup, that's because he wasn't there at the Battle in Sieged Mandalorian, as Dustin pointed out. He was at the Coruscant and about to embrace his dark path to become Vader. That's why his next saber was red. He then gave two options to Ahsoka, win and killing the foe (Anakin) or lost and possibly killed in the duel. But she chose to win and forgive. Forgive Anakin, forgive her past and forgive any wrongdoing. That's her final training about, forgiving, and rewarded being alive once again (then became White Ashoka?)
She had to choose, fight and survive, but let who she is die. Or know when to stop fighting, forgive and learn to live again. I am so glad that she was able to start the journey to being herself instead of being her fear of Vader.
I loved seeing Hayden back as Anakin. He did great, looked awesome and I'm so happy he did his lightsaber spinning move at one point. Also loved seeing Ariana Greenblatt aka Sasha in Barbie playing young Ahsoka
"They never listen." I think the 1st time Huyang said that it was about Ahsoka and Sabine, the repeat of the line was a lamentation of all the Jedi he was on a mission with over 25000 years that died because they didn't listen to an old droid.
This episode was freaking amazing, seeing Anakin and the flash of Vader was so amazing, This brought tears to my eyes... I can only imagine the reaction in the theaters....
I've never watched the animated series because I was so far behind to even try to catch up, but I can still feel the chemistry between Ahsoka and Anakin. Those Anakin/Vader shots were so great!
Why was i so emotional in this episode I was hyped, my eyes got watery, I was like no way this is happening (rebels and clone wars live action) was phenomenal Dave truly made this cinematic. You can see how much Anakin cared for ashoka how hard he was in training her man Hayden delivered so much...thank you Dustin and Wendy for your reactions 👏🏻❤️
I don't honestly know why, but the Huyang "they never listen" scene made me think of the original "Neverending Story" moment with the Rockbiter, "They look like strong hands....don't they?" Just had the same feel to me for some reason.
Anyone gonna mention the little Anakin quip when Ahsoka says "I won' fight you"... and he answers "I've heard that before" - referring to Luke saying that to Vader when he refused to fight his own father..?,
Great reaction, guys! Loved this emotional episode so much, and I can only be hyped for what's still to come now! Kudos to everyone's acting here, and thanks Dave, for gifting us this special relationship between Anakin and Ahsoka! Hayden nailed Matt's Ani and showed us his fighting skills are still SO GOOD! Respect to Ariana here, too!
I have noticed what I think may be a clue to the Ahsoka series. When looking at the title card graphic 'Ahsoka", I see within the 'O' of the name Ahsoka a pathway, like in the WBW's, leading to a portal. You can see it if you follow the line, or path, from the bottom of the 'O' to the center, where there is a larger solid circle, the portal. When she reaches the Peridia Galaxy 'alone' and faces the challenges there, I would not be surprised if Ahsoka finds herself in a desperate and hopeless situation where everything she cares about is crumbling down around her. Will she walk that path? Will she step through the portal? Will she cause a shift that would have a dramatic effect on the Star Wars universe?
I think one element of this I appreciate is that in the last episode, Baylon blamed Ahsoka in part for not stopping Anakin. We find out in this one that Ahsoka truly blames herself as well, and the lesson Anakin tries to impart is that she needs to let go of that residual guilt, since it was never her fault.
Every time I see this scene with Anakin fighting with the red saber, I'm like wow... Vader without the suit would have been almost undefeatable. We saw on Obi-Wan how limiting his suit is, both physically and mechanically.
The girl who played young Ahsoka is the same girl who played young Gamorra in Avengers. We've also seen Ahsoka without headgear before in the Clone Wars when Plo Koon first found her as a baby and took her to the Jedi temple!
@@TheMovieCouple YEEEESSSS!! Still can't believe Liam once directed Adam Driver as Kylo for a Lego Star Wars game 😂😂 You gotta love seeing them thrive!
Just a note Filoni is making a movie that’s the culmination of all these shows, so that’ll probably be the conclusion to the thrawn story. How many more seasons we get of Ahsoka or Mando before then is the unknown
Word has it Anakin shows up for 7 and 8. We also have that dialogue of him talking to Ahsoka that we heard in that one TV spot trailer that was released. He most likely speaks to her encouragingly in a time of need, much like Obi-Wan to Luke as a force ghost/voice. We have yet to hear that new Hayden dialogue from the trailer, so obviously with rumors of 7 and 8 still having Anakin in some way, shape, or form. I can conclude it must happen in a time of need to Ahsoka, etc. Maybe more flashbacks as Ahsoka thinks on things? Who knows!
I'm so happy for Hayden.!! Anakin has become a fan favorite for many star wars fans mostly because of the CWS.... And I feel like Hayden never got the recognition he deserved.. Anakin is his character, .. Plus seeing him as a mentor to young soka was amazing.... I almost wanted to cry... Both actors did such a good job capturing the dynamic between Anakin and ahsoka... I would LOVE to see more of that...
Since you both seemed to really like the cinematography in this episode, one of the directors was Quyen Tran. A lot of 9/11 photos you see from news outlets are hers, because she was in NYC and had her camera on her at the time. Interesting trivia is all.
Ariana Greenblat… the queen of the young character IP… young Ahsoka, young Gamora… I don’t want a n explanation of what that was… keeping the World Between Worlds as such an enigma is really more interesting and very much keeping it up to interpretation. I think that’s more fun. This was so good.
Ashoka is so lucky to experience the full powered Vader in WBW cause the Vader we knew (the one with suit) is the nerf version Ashoka and Obi wan are the person who fought Vader in his healthy state
Remember how the lightsaber battles in ESB and ROTJ felt so good because there was emotional *weight* to them... that's what this feels like. It's not flashy fighting for the sake, there's story to be told through the fights - and the choosing *not* to fight.
Ahsoka was barely a teenager when she became Anakin's padawn. She literally grew up in the middle of a horrible war that turned out to be nothing more than trap for the Jedi Order. Even as conflicted as she was about the Jedi, having them slaughtered the way they were BY ANAKIN... Ouch. Yeah. She is a mess. She is good, dedicated and skilled, but she HAD to face this. She did. Props to Hayden, Rosario and the girl who played Young Ahsoka. This Was AWESOME!
I think Anakin pooled Ahsoka's Soul into the world between worlds Because she was SO close to death; like an out of body experience. Reason I say this is because in episode, four obi wan said that if you struck me down, I'll come more powerful than you can possibly imagine So when Anakin can died in return of the same happened' and I think that was a fusion of Anakin and Vader Which is why he flashed between the 2. And that was the circus equivalent of going into the cave on Dagoba.
@@TheMovieCouple Hey guys! I loved this episode as much as you did too! Also, your question about Thrawn, if you didn’t know Dave Filoni is making a movie that will have Thrawn in it and it will follow the events of this series wherever it concludes. I don’t know if you knew this because he announced it during Celebration earlier this year.
Yes Dustin, her headgear was different while talking to Jacen. Previously it was a white diamond shape in the center. Now it looks like a bird of some kind (perhaps the Morai?)
Ahsoka Episode 5 was the best yet by far. We didn't just get Anakin as a Force ghost. We got a full Clone Wars flash back with a live action young padawan Ahsoka (the actress did a phenomenal job playing her) and a younger Anakin. Dave Filoni outdid himself here.
George Lucas said the most powerful force user is Luke then Vader. Luke has more flesh than Vader thus he has more Midichlorians in his body make his connect stronger to the force...Ahsoka's power level is "up there" around their level according to George. Knowing this information I believe, Ahsoka's fear is that she is as or more powerful than Anakin because he trained her an is apart of his Legacy. She always been holding back not going all-in in fear of turning to the dark-side like Anakin did. It's why she hesitate with Sabine training in fear she'll pass it on.JMO
Do you believe Ahsoka's test is similar to Luke's test? Luke gave into his fear, anger and hatred. In Ahsoka's case, she gave into fear of continuing to fight and be responsible for losing soldiers. As Anakin mentioned, she needs to adjust to the times, which means she needs to fight when it's needed to survive.
I think what they might do is have Thrawn show up in the last two or three episodes, then Filoni's movie will be about fighting Thrawn (and maybe we'll get a trilogy).
Re-watch rhis with in mind that Ahsoka is fighting for her life in the water - Anakin is just make her chose to live or death... Noting more, nothing less..
I was blown away by the Clone Wars scenes! I'm glad the rumors about Anakin's appearance being tied into the Mortis arc weren't true. This way of addressing what's been holding Ahsoka back was so much better. On a lesser note, I'm glad Ahsoka got to hear the force echoes of Baylan and Sabine's conversation so she can have some understanding why Sabine did what she did.
It's highly likey that Thrawn will be the main villain in the Dave Faloni movie. The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew are all connected stories, that will come together for the movie. It will be very surprising and unlikely if Thrawn dies in this season.
Saw you, instant like... love you both ❤❤❤❤❤... I almost get teary eyed... seeing you... because you guy's get to me, just because of who you are.... and then,on top of being beautiful people.... you also bring some of the greatest reactions....WTF???!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
The part when ahsoka said I won't fight you was an Easter egg when Luke said the same thing to him when anakin was vader 😢 I won't fight you Luke said and when anakin said I heard that one before 🥺😭☺️ he remembered awwwwwww we love you hayden christensen ❤
This IS Anakin's force ghost. You have to remember we have only seen force ghosts in the real world, but in the world between worlds, it wouldn't be the same. It's why he looks and is more physical, especially since Anakin is The Chosen One he would have a stronger presence in the force, especially since he most likely took the place of the brother and is the one who keeps balance between the light and dark, as we saw him wield both. Him turning into Vader isn't just symbolic, but it's him actually using the dark side of the force, much like Windu and Yoda (Although I think that Yoda moment is no longer Canon but Legends, when he shows Dooku his power once he taps into the darkside). I'm guessing and assuming we will see more of Anakin, possibly him showing himself to Ezra if or when he goes back in the world between worlds. Also, I mean, come on... That was Anakin, the dialogue alone shows he isn't a memory as he said things Ahsoka would never know. She wasn't there when Vader faced Luke, and he told him, "I won't fight you." And he replies to Ahsoka when she says it too."I've heard that before." Or in the siege of mandalore memory when Anakin appears, he comes in with a sense if individuality and doesn't act like a subconscious of Ahsoka, or a memory of him re-telling old dialogue from their past. Just like Yoda and Obi Wan, he has most likely become 10x times more powerful and can traverse through the force in ways no one else has before.
I think people are missing a subtle but crucial callback to ESB, to the Dark Side Cave scene where Luke confronts the vision of Vader and fails the test. This was Ahsoka's test and unlike Luke, she passed.
Tell You One Thing...Hayden Christensen can still swing a lightsaber!! And was this the first time we see "Anakin" (without the Vader Suit) sporting a Red Blade? Also, towards the end of the fight back in the World Between Worlds, I kinda got the sense that Anakin actually became the balance of the force from Mortis. His eyes were red and not Sith Yellow. Was that the "Brother?"
That was definitely anakin as a force ghost but because he was in the world between worlds it’s different he becomes more physical. Anakin has balanced both sides of the force light and dark it is clearly shown here as he switches easily back and forth. He was also dropping hints of things that happen to him that ahsoka wouldn’t have known about like when she says I won’t fight you bad he replied back I have heard that before from his own son so this is most definitely the real true anakin the chosen one what he should’ve been the balance between light and dark.
There are many parallels in this series. I noted the personality change in Ahsoka as soon as she awoke from her Gandalf Grey to white conversion. Someone posted the mortis mural and Ahsoka now represent the sister, Anakin is more the brother, so who would be the father. We have not seen the guiding spirit bird since The Mandalorin season 2 episode 13 The Jedi ... as for comments on why Ahsoka did not drown ... she is not human, and who can say that her lekku tentacles could hold breathable air, or a filter. We never visited Ahsoka homeworld in Star Wars, except for that little bit in the animated short, so it could be a water rich world. Starfish in our seas live ... no ... I am not saying the put a Starfish on Rosario's head 😂😅 .. but it shows how little we know of her race. So the mortis connection is the direction it is going. That's my input .. good reaction btw ... D.
I believe that Thrawn is going to be the big bad for Faloni's movie. It is goingto be the Faloni-verse which will include all the Characters involved in both the Madalorian and Ahsoka series. It might even include Luke Skywalker.
