The Chimera is now true to its name. Many components from many ships. A mixture of multiple vessels and Magick. A symbol of Thrawn's power, as well as his resilience.
I was melted when Huyang cast that magical spells, "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...." It's been imprinted in my subconscious since I was a little kid and that was a very nice moment to call it back.
@@jiszmo6668 Considering Huyang age and histories, that would be a great collection of "bedtime" stories from The Acolyte era into Battle of Yavin and even more. 🙂
Thrawn did meet younger Anakin in "Thrawn: Alliances." Anakin was on a mission to look for Padme who went missing, and ran into Thrawn. They formed an alliance to help each other in their respective missions. That is how he later deduced that Vader was Anakin because his fighting strategy and mannerisms were like Anakin.
And we know from the latest Thrawn trilogy that it stems from an alien ally he made in the Unknown Region during his time with the Chiss Ascendancy. He was basically made an honorary member of his clan, which is unusual because the Chiss are normally quite xenophobic.
I wouldn't say always (not at least with the old books), but I won't fault Filoni at all for making it a thing to make the Chimaera stand out; it's so delightfully creepy and artistic.
Lars Mikkelsen was already perfect in Rebels, but FINALLY seeing him play Thrawn in live action proves was was born to play Grand Admiral Thrawn! And his “Night Troopers” are beyond awesome. They’re the most intimidating looking army I’ve ever seen in Star Wars. Especially Enoch, he looks like a mix of a Spartan and a gladiator. And Baylan Skoll is proving to be one of the most complex and compelling characters in all of Star Wars. He managed to see not only that the Jedi had fallen even before Order 66 because of how they had become so blinded by their own hubris and hypocrisy, but he sees that the Galaxy can never be governed for long or even properly by either a Republic nor an Empire. So he is looking for a new power that will outlast all of them. It just makes it more tragic that Ray Stevenson didn’t live to see the overwhelming praise he would’ve received. What really surprised me was the Nightsisters being the lynchpin that ties everything together. Now it makes sense how an incredibly ancient map could lead to where Thrawn was currently, because Morgan was told so in her visions by the Great Mothers, who were instructed by Thrawn. And in exchange for aiding Thrawn, he would take them and whatever their cargo is (and I have a bad feeling I might know what it is) back to our Galaxy. DAVE FILONI YOU MAD GENIUS, YOU NEVER FAIL TO ENTERTAIN US!
Thrawn actually met Anikin during the clone wars on a mission to find Padme who had been captured...funnily enough the Name Skywalker is what the Chiss call their force sensitive hyperdrive navigators. Anyway Thrawn basically used Anikin to his benefit to steal Sepratist shield tech if memory serves correctly. But yes later Thrawn does in fact deduce it is Vader...and in not so many words told never to reveal that secret. That was a great trilogy.
@@k1ng0fqu33n5 I was rewatching some Expanse clips earlier and realised Frankie Adams (Bobbie Draper) is about the right age for a Mandoverse-era Omega.
@@AndrewMcCollJust looked her up, given that she is a Kiwi, I will support this opinion. I just love the genuine Kiwi accents that pop up with New Zealanders, like has happened with Omega, and Emerie for that matter.
I agree: the reunion was way too cold for 2 "besties" not seeing each other in 10 years and given Ezra's goodbye particular circumstances. And I was taken aback by Sabine's reticency, but then I thought: if Ezra knew that Sabine just wasted everything he sacrificed (giving Thrawn a chance to get back) he would be very upset. And Sabine knows it very well. So it's understandable she wants to take her time for that... Though a bit naive and selfish 😁
I cant stop grinning cause we finally go live action thrawn in all his glory and we get to see the home world of the nightsisters ancestors. After this episode an ahsokas talk with huyang sabine's whole arc is basically a condensed version of anakins attachment. Ezra being sabines last remaining family and was willing to help baylan on the promise she see ezra is similar to how anakin was tempted to the dark side out desperation and fear of losing padme as he did his mother. So far baylan is an intersting dharacter since we know very littlemof his past or his motivation outside of breaking the cycle of good and evil. Perhaps the source of the nightsisters magic may be whats been calling to baylan or heck maybe the darkside who knows
7:32 I would agree to the idea of a series about Baylen Skoll. To include the backstory, & how he survived Order 66. Since Ray Stevenson is no longer with us, a comic series would have to effectively tell said backstory,.
Justin nailed it. Villages are constantly under attack in STAR WARS, Luke's foster parents home, the village in Mando pilot and on the world he found love and almost removed his helmet and 2nd season debut with the sandworm, of course the village in Boba Fett was patched up in his pilot. Good call, Justin. "I can't wait to go home." "Ummmmmm ..." 🤣🤣🤣 I agree, I'd love to see movie or mini series about Baylan and Shin. With Ray Stevenson death maybe they recast or just focus on Shin. It was nice to see a different, curious but still cautious side to her beyond just constant intensity which is awesome but nice to see she's not one note. So I guess "a long time ago" for Ahsoka would be maybe the time of the Knights of the Old Republic aka KOTOR?
It isn't a wild theory that at least some of these stormtroopers are dead. I had heard it about a month ago, that we should be expecting an undead stormtrooper army. I think that's exactly what we have here. I wonder if any of them are alive, or if so how many are alive vs dead. I also noticed stormtroopers loading , what looked like coffins. Could those be more dead back-up supplies?
@@Mertaranta You could say that about any of the live action characters that were transitioned to animation... yet many of those portrayals have become beloved in their own right to the point where Hayden actually worked to match Matt Lanter.
I can sort of see why Sabine's reaction was not that big upon seeing Ezra... The guilt must probably weigh way heavy on her for her to celebrate a big way. Whew... I cannot imagine how Ezra will react once he knows what Sabine exchanged for to get to him... Man... As much as I'm happy with how the visuals (the OG Nightsisters are awe inducing... I love powerful women!), the audio, the returns of Ezra and Thrawn (who I only knew of in chunks before this series... HE SCARY COLD..) I'm just so woeful that Ray is gone from us .... Baylan has been quite the character in just a short time... and knowing the real life fact, I don't think that his character would be staying through this first season.
I love that they made hyperspace travel look more beautiful when done via purrgil than the artificial way - great reminder that the technology was born from studying the purrgil but can’t quite replicate the majesty of their natural talent.
Bokken Jedi - A bokken is a Japanese wooden sword used for training in kenjutsu. On a different subject, Baylon sort of reminds me of Daenerys Targaryen with respect to her desire to "break the wheel." I appreciate your Ahsoka reviews, and I'm loving the series!!! I have a feeling Filoni's movie will come out before Season Two (if there is one).
Loving the t-shirts, and awwww that's an adorable Ahsoka plush 🧡 This episode was enjoyable. Cool they brought back Thrawn's voice actor to play him, and Ezra was a surprise. 🚶♀️ ................ "stay." .......... 🐕
Hi Guys, love your reactions.... 19:09 The Big difference between Thrawn and The Republic... Thrawn "" We should considered Ahsoka Tano alive until we know other wise"... The Republic to Hera "Thrawn is dead"... Thart is why I respect the kind of Villian Thrawn is and regret how the Republic reacts to a potential threat. This series is one of the best so far, love it
I love it that they got the voice actor to play him. Voice is so good. Eyes look great. The only really problem I have is Thrawn has a dad bod belly. The guy who spars assassin droids and stays fit... has a dad bod... my only real complaint. It was funny to see her scolding the dog too.... but I woulda enjoyed some more meat and potatoes than seeing that. Other than that we got Ezra! Thrawn! Was a good watch. I was actually really nice seeing Sabine actually win a fight aswell. She's a mandolorian whose been getting her ass handed to her in every fight! Felt good to see her survive an ambush and take out the aggressors while surviving jt pretty well.
I’ve seen a theory that Baylan was once a padawan to Qui-Gon, and the more I hear his speak the more convincing it is to me. The way he speaks just sounds so much like him and his willingness to speak before taking immediate action is interesting. Also I love how collectively everyone went from thinking the Howler was not cute, to being the bestest boi in a matter of minutes 😂.
I love this episode so freaking much, and I really enjoyed seeing your two react to it. Seeing Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger in live-action made me squeal like no tomorrow. Also, I got emotional with the lovely reunion between Ezra and Sabine.
I SECOND that I too would like a whole series around Baylan. I hope they seriously recast with someone of equal measure & do justice to his story. I love they continue to show the easy relationship (and ability to ride) that Mandalorians can develop with animals.
The name of Ezra's actor is Eman Esfandi...the actor you're thinking of who played the live-action Aladdin, his name is Mena Massoud...just saying...anyways, I thought this episode was good and great to see Thrawn's VA making his live action debut as the character he brought to life in Star Wars Rebels...can't wait to see how the last couple of episodes plays out.
@@UndertakerFan3623 Oh sorry. I thought I'd read somewhere where Alladin actor was supposed to get this part. Perhaps it was just a theory? Or misdirect?
@HarperGigs Seems it was just a rumor...although I myself was hoping Mena would be tapped to play the role because I thought he would be good...he did a good playing Aladdin, but I guess they had someone else in mind and chose Eman.
So the markings on the bottom of the Chimaera (Thrawn's Star Destroyer) is an artistic representation of the creature the ship is named for, a Chimaera. It's been on the ship ever since Thrawn first took command of it as the flagship of the Empire's 7th Fleet. You can see it in some scenes during Rebels and it's the primary artwork on the cover of the Thrawn: Ascendancy novel trilogy (Timothy Zahn's most recent canon Thrawn novels that tell the story of his early years with the Chiss Ascendancy before he was exiled and found by the Empire). It was not recently put on there by the Nightsisters. Just wanted to clear that up!
I heard a lot about Fate and Destiny especially with the Dathomir Night Sisters. Thrawn is perfect. Sabine needs some turnaround cause right now her character is pissing me off. Ezra is perfect. What is Baylon searching for?
The Nightsisters do use the Force, just a different aspect of it. Their magick is crafted from the Force and used mostly for deception, illusion, ressurection, and foresight. The Sith also have a form of Force magick, which you see Palpatine using in Rebels when he tries to use Ezra and Ahsoka to pull himself into the World-Between-Worlds. Palpatine also uses his Sith magick in Clone Wars, if I remember correctly.
You know what I just realized, the night sister's mistook Sabine as the dangerous one that reeked of jedi when I think it was Baylan cause you see their surprised faces when Thrawn calls him General of the Jedi Order.
My Daughter and i Loved it Ezra was awesome.Thrawn she is not going to tell him right away found him after 9 10 years.I like Sabine character she is Sabine from animation.the soldiers are witch magic.
Great reaction as always!. ♥I love this whole new galaxy and the huge potential that can be built upon it. Many outstanding surprises. I think that Sabine feels kind of guilty and very worried about what could Thrawn try to do to them. Can´t wait for the last to ones :´-) My best regards.
Rewatching it, I realized they never touched on his relationship to Vader in the modern canon so he wouldn't know Anakin had an apprentice. ( in the old canon he was one of a few that knew Anakin and Vader were the same person)
I love Jesus Bridger and his chemistry with Sabine❤Thrawn is so terrifying because Lars knows how to play his voice role from the Rebels! Greetings from Germany❤
Unpopular opinion: I like the Thrawn from the books (Timothy Zahn's latest book trilogy in particular - Thrawn, Alliances and Treason) waay more than the version of Thrawn from Rebels and now Ahsoka. I watched Rebels after I read the books and I was a bit disappointed with him, although everyone loves him in Rebels. He was more of an antihero in the books, compared to Rebels where he is a straight up evil villain. In the books he strategizes in such a way that loss of life is minimized, on either side. He will never kill unless there is no other way around it, unlike here. The version from the books makes me sympathize with him all the way. I get it, too much moral ambiguity and complexity was perhaps unnecessary in an animated series made for a younger audience, but now the same version of evil Thrawn is in the Ahsoka series. I wish they would've went with the books version.
I love spoilers! I love knowing just what happens BEFORE I watch a film or TV show. I plan to watch the episode Friday after watching a couple more spoiler reviews.
I think Thrawn does know Anakin is Vader. There is that 1 new canon Thrawn novel where they did encounter each other and worked together way back during The Clone Wars and that is how he deduced Anakin is Vader when they had to work together much later for The Empire. It's been many years now since I last read that novel, but I'm pretty sure he does know Anakin is Vader. But, there's no reason to believe Thrawn knows Ahsoka was Anakin's padawan. LOL, I gottta admit, I kept getting distracted looking at Thrawn's hair and pooch belly. I wonder if that hound animal bonded with Sabine right away because of The Force. It must've felt great hearing that Night Sister calling Sabine a Jedi. I do think it would've been cool if those bandits Sabine killed were of Cad Bane's species, but that also probably would've brought up a bunch of other questions. I too think Sabine and Ezra's reunion would've felt more enthusiastic and celebratory than it was. But, I chalk that up to the same problem I've been having with this series from the start, which is the dialogue is not quick enough. I would not be surprised if Disney announces a Baylon and Shin comic book series. I also would not be surprised if Baylon turns on Thrawn and Morgan at the end.
When i watched the scene i can't understand why she is upset,it was just an animal and there is gun fire, what did you want from it,and it came back which is much better because when you are fighting you don't have to worry if it got injured or killed,if so left you stranded
I don't think it's important from Thrawns perspective who Anakin was. Vader is dead as well as Anakin and aside a little chat that information wouldn't give him any tactical advantage.
Thrawns old theme better appear at some point , was hoping his return was him with the theme . But they used this other theme which isn’t as good, so when he’s plotting or something hope they use the old theme
Thrawn has been stranded for ten years, I understand why he's eager not to stick around. The Great Mothers? There's definitely something more going on.
"The Storm" that the AT - ATs concentrated on . . . 'following' the ◇ Grand Admiral ◇ ● only in that 'What About Bob' fashion □ *Lars* is the ONLY sensible casting choice great discussion ● cheers
wow, never knew how polite the bad guys in this show is, they even took turns fighting Sabine when they could have easily tackled her down with there numbers. and Ezra living in the the open and Thrawn with his star destroyer, high tech detection machines and star fighters can't find him? how stupid are they?
most countries in reality can't handle money well........what about one huge government handling who knows how many planets with their own countries on them too
SO FAR all i get from Sadine is tunnel vision, single-minded, EZRA , EZRA, from eps 1 on. she dose not see the big picture. and the admiral points that out.
@@carlosandres7006 I do not know why, but I was a soldier and that kind of one to the many Ezra did it to save the galaxy but Sandine did it to be with him how was she going to get back if Ezra could not get back himself if it was not for ahsoka. to a galaxy that will be at war again pretty soon because of her. so all that what Ezra and Keana sacrificed their life for was all for nothing. the way I see it, but I understand why she did it. but was it good for the galaxy, in the big picture that is what Thrawn meant in what he said to her. that is the question yet to be answered. maybe we will finally get a read of this guy once and for all.
