Wouldn't it be ironic if the color pencil guy got comments from other AI bros saying "Why should I spend money for this garbage when I have AI that makes it for me"? Man...
When you’re so jealous that other people can draw that you have to not only steal their work and sell it, but sabotage anyone that ever wants to come along and try it.
Imagine that. This dude has been grifting, he says he doesn't use AI when it's clear he's tracing. He's giving advice on things he doesn't know. It's purposely damaging to new artists.
We're going to see a generation of Artists who have no self-esteem because they can't draw well because they've been taught by hacks. The irony is, that just creates a bigger divide between the masters and common people. It doesn't bridge the gap like they claim A.I was supposed to do. =\
I hope so too. It took me a while to connect it. If the dude wants to draw fine, but he's not all he claims to be and he's just redressed that book he made.
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist Yeah, that was pretty solid detective work! I must say I am impressed! And that guy is definitely scamming people. Out of curiosity, are you still working on the Nightshade/Glaze video?
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist I'm looking forward to it, but no rush, and no worries. :) There's a quote I like: "Life is that thing that happens while you're making plans." I guess that's just my way of saying 'I get it'.
If I could just figure out what program he's using... I'm SURE there'd be a way to figure out how he's editing or faking those speedpaints. And besides, even if he wasn't using AI, it's still a scam. Those books are terrible. He'd deserve being called out regardless lol.
This is what I think: I've seen him draw in procreate, he also uses Adobe mobile. I believe he's tracing on a hidden later in procreate, transferring and running it in adobe. He admits he uses multiple programs. I think he uses Adobe to show the time lapses because no one would trust his procreate ones.
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist I personally thought he used a green screen lol. There was a similar situation to this a few years back where an artist (named Cristali) had speedpaints of themselves tracing but they’ve managed to hide it somehow with a green screen. My memory of this drama is sadly fuzzy though so just my words with a grain of salt.
@@Shortcakeeeeeee Omg that was like 5 years ago I remember that! I'm SOOO fuzzy on the details. I imagine it'd be possible to turn the image being traced green, and afterwards edit it so everything green turns up white. That'd make it easy for this guy since he doesn't even color.
*sigh* I feel bad for all the would be artists that see this crap and think, "Oh this person is so good, I'm going to learn from them." and then not understanding why they can't draw like them after following so carefully their step by step process. And yes I'm kidding about the last part. The annoying thing is that A.I is tricking everyone from Digital art to craft, even photography because some people don't study the images hard enough. Like "Oh look at this amazing cake I made all by myself." Great, can you tell us how you did it, or are you a FAKE?
This is actually kind of hilarious to me "Im too lazy to actually draw, i'd rather use AI, but you know what I just NEED to do? Make something that teaches people how to draw. Of course I wont draw it myself im sure I can figure out how to teach it using AI art." Like seriously?
6:40 It's so obvious that it's traced. Everything is done to scam beginners who can't tell & don't have the eye to see how useless his book is, even Jazza got fooled because he didn't scrutinize it before buying. It's gross. : /
Reminds me a little of a Monty Python sketch about show-jumping horses who jump over the casts of different movies... "You realised how we never actually see the horses jump?"
As a beginner artist, I almost fell for this ad on Instagram and when I was looking up the website I saw your video. Thank you so much for bringing this to everyone's attention.
Thank you so much for this!! I've seen so many artists I follow that follow Tatan as well when I checked out his profile just now! Immediately letting them know about this!! 😬 I'm super grateful for all your hard work in finding the truth here!! This feels like a real life detective story and I'm here to help the community get the happy ending we all deserve (without anyone falling for AI scams) 😮💨
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist Thanks to your gut feeling and artistic eye we actually can now prevent more people from falling for this! I don't get the teaching art aspect either! As if using AI wasn't bad enough, he has to also screw over artists who are eager to learn as well now 😒
@@xtheinsomniac4624 If he wants to be a teacher, he needs to start his journey. Simply learning how to draw that one head, put it in MJ and then trace over everything isn't going to help ANYONE.
i saw this ad today and i wanted to learn more about the artist, but no personal art instagram or twitter or art station etc! those were my red flags but i’m glad i watched your video because it confirms it! 🚩
Aaaaaaaa this guy??? No but like, the universe prevented me from getting scammed. I wanted to buy that tatandrawing book about how to construct faces. My PayPal glitched out and wouldn't let me purchase the guide though, and I eventually gave up. Aaaaa I was so close to getting scammed! So glad I found this video before I tried to buy it again. Thank you for making this video and helping me not get scammed!
I saw an add for Tatan Drawing and remembered yours and Jazza's vids on it. The moment wrote 'its an ai generated scam' on the ad I was immediately blocked lol.
There is a lot to cover with this one. Though, it's hard to notice at the first glance, but there is surely some evidence indicating that this person is tracing AI art. I looked at the page myself, watched and compared their speedpaints and here is some thing that I found that look odd: 1. Inconsistent art style. They go from drawing realistic structure of the head to suddenly anime style, then semirealism then more realistic. It's subtle, but it is visible in how they draw noses and lips and how some of the characters have more details to them. And note, most of them are 1 day apart. 2. Inconsistent structure process. Some faces have just lines to indicate the placement of the features, and some have whole structure of the face with planes to them. Notice also the difference in how they structure eyes from one piece to another. Sometimes they even draw eyes separately. 3. Weird hair and sharp lines that doesn't make sense. In some of their works it's very visible that they don't think of the hair as a mass and clearly don't understand the volume of it. Some of the hair has clumps that doesn't make any sense and for some reason there's a lot of sharp edges to them. Doesn't seem like a preference in drawing hair, considering how inconsistent it is. The most visible to spot AI tracing is their "30 minute drawing" video process. Look at the hair in the middle. It doesn't make sense. Another one is "the importance of fundamentals" Again. Look at the hair. It is inconsistent and lack intension. 4. Date of posting. They don't seem to have a consistent schedule, but sometimes they post everyday, and sometimes they post a couple of drawing at the same day. As an artist myself that tries to grow on the platform this amount of posts and gaps between them seem weird. The one explanation that comes to me immediately is that they're trying to fill their page so it would look more real. The other thing I'll add from myself is a weird lack of exploration process. They just start drawing a head with structure and then add details. The biggest problem is that after the "sketch" they just refine it, without changing anything. Like there is already a clear picture of what the character would look like. Usually, if you're going to explore the character and their look you'll do some doodles of the shape of the face, try to find matching hair, try different eye shape. But they just appear out of thin air, with already completed design. Yes, some people can draw it like that easily, take Marc Brunet for example. But his structure process is unified, he has his own method and a way of drawing face and hair and all of it is clearly drawn with intension. Don't get me wrong, It can be fine, but when there's so many weird and odd things to it combined - it just doesn't make any sense.
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist Lol I actually didn't! I was focused on other things so much that this detail is kinda went through me. But, come on, no undo? That's impossible, unless you're an art god. And this person is clearly isn't. I hope your video reaches more people, I already warned my community at least 💜
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist At the time of writing my comment this person had 22k followers already. It's really unfortunate for the new artists, because with this account it's actually hard to spot that it's AI tracing, unless you already have some experience in drawing. Also, I bet that anyone who would actually buy their book learn absolutely nothing, which is horrible. I just hope this person will get what they deserve because scamming people has never ended well.
The worst thing about him and many others scamming people aka eraser artists (Ylanast lol) is that they can actually draw(?), maybe just a little but they can, yet they decide to be lazy, use ai to get fast but weird results and feed social media, since they have people hypnotized with their "art". It's all about money and engagement and not about the passion of making art, learn and teach 💀 Anyway, thanks for the video!
It's a shame when people won't take the time to actually learn to draw. It's soo hard to learn. It's something that takes years to learn and more to hone your skill. This is just terrible they are taking advantage of people who don't know where to start. :/
He took the time to learn how to draw a head shape to look "legit" but he doesn't have any content to show other than tracing and none of his speedpaints have undo lol
Dude’s definitely tracing ai generated images and using taco1704 tips to make this “artbook” an actual artbook lol as a guide oh and eyy I like your use of the ace attorney cross-examination theme
I saw this guy on Instagram ads, and thought it was real until I saw the pages. The e-book doesn't explain anything, it's like they just picked up some words from someone and put it there, and that's what I'm here for. Anyway I think they filtered out their comments.
When i started learning from the tatan book it felt weird. Turns out its AI. I was trying to find information about it before i bought and didn't find any. Only for this video to be relased two days after i got it 😭😭😭.
6:48 - that dog and character are in the same identical pose in each of these. It could be argued that the point is to draw the same subject from different angles, but from the very stiff anatomy, lack of any dynamic shapes, weird tangents and general feeling that nothing about this was 'designed' by an artist - I get the feeling this is either traced from a 3D model or even just a filter applied over images of the model. Personally I think the woman is traced and the dog is filtered.
Oh hey I saw this shit on my insta and thought "yeah that's clearly ai" glad to see people are seeing through this ai scam bs, can't wait to see more AI scams like this
Not sure what the Jazza context is (I blocked him ages ago when he put out one of his first pro-AI videos despite the ethical/theft issues being abundantly clear even then), but thanks for bringing attention to it so others don't get scammed.
OMG I THOUGHT THIS ARTIST WAS REAL, I took a little time to look, at their art since it was an ad, now the book was similar to the scam I used to know but when they did like traditional art I was like hm, and just scrolled away 😭
I'm really sad about this, I really fell for this scam, I feel totally stupid 😢, I hope your video reaches more people so they don't lose their money like me.
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist The books are now on Library Genesis, It's the only thing that could be done 😩, to get them you have to search for "tatandrawing".
You gotta be kidding me... I'm so mad I actually bought this. I didn't think too deeply about it and just bought it on a whim. The ebook is fairly empty of information and now I know why.
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist Sadly I'm not an artist. 💀But I do watch out for the AI 'artists' and support every REAL artist accused of making AI 'art'. Love your content & you! Ya' nice.
Thank you! This person came to my attention a few weeks ago. Initial impression from their advwas "huh looks good, let's see what it's about", then a ton of discrepancies started popping up, many of which you addressed. Book is just a regurgutation of Taco's book, loomis and whatnot. They don't know the anatomy enough to see what is important to highlight, so even when tracing things are off. It's actually sad how much effort they put into this. The person probably had a love for drawing at some point.
Well, they don't have a love for drawing. Their previous version of the book was generating off of the Loomis method and using chat gpt to explain the terrible pictures in the book. In this one, he just traces over Midjourney work and learned how to draw "the head", so he could hide the scam better.
I really want to thank you, I almost fell for it. Your video need more eyes. It really made me sick to my stomach thinking about how many beginner artist like my self fell for this, wasted their time and money.
I almost bought the tatandrawing book bundle! Thanks for this warning. It’s also hard to believe that someone can draw so clean that fast. I was sus after I fell for a comicpencil expression book off Amazon. I thankfully got rid of it. ❤
at 9:16 , I went to the tatan website myself and realize the obvious AI made photo. I followed tatan Instagram prior watching this video coz i thought the drawing was beautiful. TQSM for this info. 👍
I saw the AD (as a mediocre artist, not a pro yet, but semi decent), and even I was like "Huh?? This doesn't seem helpful at all??". Looked sus. I was eight.
7:24 you can make things show in a higher layer of display with some app or program, i use all the time when drawing, i usually use stuff like this to render blender or minecraft because i suck at perspective you could setup something like that over the recording layers to make it not show up in recordings, like how some people can cheat while streaming
Wow I feel so silly and embarrassed for falling for Tatandrawing's scam. I can usually recognize AI art and looking at their website now it's so obvious but it's too late since I already bought their ebook. I just wanted to learn to draw better heads and the reviews were all positive so I just purchased without looking too deep into it. Unfortunate how people can scam others with AI like this nowadays :(. Thank you for making this video and spreading awareness.
No problem, I was wondering: Do you have a copy of it still? I'd love to look over every page and scower it. I'm only willing to change my mind if he shows his process live on instagran from beginning to end with his fine arts degree, otherwise he's a faceless grifter trying to release something with no skill. He already admitted that his recording in Adobe were drawn elsewhere.
The 3D model usage I don't mind so much. That's fair game. The underhanded use of A.I and the way he pretends to understand drawing fundamentals is what gets my goat. O_O
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist I never find myself using 3D models with my art, but I don't really begrudge someone else using them. It's like, I don't use a cane to walk, but I don't get mad at other people for using them. Some people can't get on without them, either. XD
This is a badly made video and most of it is just "idk how he's doing it but it's AI" I agree that it is, but you should present it better, the average viewer will not be convinced and they will drop off by the time the real proof in the website comes across. You should have presented your proof first that it's comicpencil and then given your opinions on how it's traced etc.
That's fine :). My video was more connecting the dots to comic pencil and how it's a scam. I don't think it's a poorly made video as it gets the information out there. Thanks for your opinion.
I hope it gets the eyes it deserves. The only thing he's good at doing is marketing, I get suggested ai scam content all the time. So, I won't stop exposing it lol
I didn't know any of this...i came across this tantan pdf on instagram and bought it because it looked good. (i do buy almost any art books i can find)and ... i still don't know, the info in there is useful. (I think he might use 3D models and draws over them, but to learn the anatomy i don't mind that?) but i really can't tell. I'm an artist for many many years and it's scary that i honestly can't tell anymore what's real and what's ai. Anyway, I wouldn't buy it now after I am made aware that I CAN'T TELL. but srly i didn't pick up on it wtf. freaky.
As someone who nearly got scammed into buying that book, we absolutely care. The book is supposed to be about art and anatomy - things actual artists want to use and improve in their drawing process. Finding out it was all AI is a huge disappointment because it means the book is useless to actual artists. So as a prospective client, we absolutely care.
Then why hiding it? If you guys are so pressed about selling AI pictures and saying it's better and nobody cares... Why hide the fact it is made by AI, to the point you FAKE it and lie about doing it by hand?
Please do not say something is a scam if you do not have evidence. If you do not want to support another artist, don't. But you need to make *allegations*. You don't need to like AI or people who try to pass it off as their own work but this attitude towards AI and artists using it at ALL is absurd. Let artists use tools.
@@friendlyneighborhoodartist I did and just because you feel someone's art is not the way you draw yours isn't evidence. Nor is stalking their personal information.
Have to say thank you so much for posting this video. I’m just getting into art and have been looking for resources and was considering buying this as I saw an ad for Tatan on Instagram. So glad I decided to research before wasting money on it. Again thank you for posting this ❤️
