Obsessed with these, as someone who likes to take inspiration from the actual game stats when writing/drawing these guys- this is valuable stuff! Thank you!
Fire man on top again. I want to see Fire Man against some of the jumpers - Bubble Man, Magnet Man, Metal Man etc. See if his pure fire rate can withstand the opponents being in the air.
As I did last video, I'll post some additional stats in the standings (here's where I mention that hopefully, whoever reads this actually watches the video first...you might be disappointed that you didn't if you don't) Overall Win-Loss Records 1. Fire Man 80-20 0 Matches Back 2. Bomb Man 77-23 3 Matches Back (Those 3 losses against Cut Man made all the difference) 3. Guts Man 40-40 30 Matches Back (Since the Ice Man battles were no contests, I didn't include them in these standings) 4. Cut Man 43-57 37 Matches Back 5. Ice Man 20-60 50 Matches Back (Again, not counting the Guts Man matches, or you could just call them ties too) 6. Elec Man 20-80 60 Matches Back (Big shocker for me, Elec Man really isn't anything when you take away his ridiculous damage output against blue protagonists) English Premier League Style Standings 1. Fire Man 8-0-2 24 Points 2. Bomb Man 8-0-2 24 Points (We have a tie for 1st pointwise, thanks to Bomb Man winning more than he lost against Cut Man both in his home and away matches, he gets the maximum amount of points possible. Too bad Fire Man dominated him head to head...) 3. Guts Man 4-2-4 14 Points (Giving Guts Man and Ice Man 1 point for each of their matchups, treating no contests like draws) 4. Cut Man 4-0-6 12 Points 5. Ice Man 2-2-6 8 Points 6. Elec Man 2-0-8 6 Points Official Standings 1. Fire Man 12 Points Bomb Man 12 Points (We have an official tie!) 3. Guts Man 6 Points Cut Man 6 Points (Another tie. Although I'd vouch that Guts Man should get another point as he didn't win or lose the Ice Man fight, so I'd treat it as a draw!) 5. Ice Man 3 Points Elec Man 3 Points (And yet another tie. Again, I'd vouch for Ice Man to get another point and argue his no contest with Guts Man should be a draw, lol) But yeah, another very fun and surprising video! (Bomb Man really stepped it up in this league! Elec Man's assumed stronger damage output meant nothing!). Great work as always!
If the same were to happen to the mm2 robot masters, then it would be even more difficult for wood man since his weapon does no damage to anyone but air man
@@leyulis8882 I assume his arm cannon would be treated as a mega buster weakness-wise. Ditto for Bubble Man which could be interesting as he would have two different attacks with different weakness damage.
This makes it very clear why the original tournament was fixed damage. Speaking of which, I was curious about that. Does fixed damage mean that everyone's attacks do the exact same damage or that they keep their original damage values just without weakness and stuff accounted for?
Just came across this channel recently. The simulator program you made for these is pretty damn awesome. I can't wait to see the rest of the Robot Masters and to see what games you include and to what extents you put them to! Happily subbed!
Super fun video! I never realized how few RMs take damage from Ice Man. But come on, this was no tie. Fire Man not only got more overall wins (Bomb Man lost 3 out of his 20 with Cuts Man) but Fire Man trashed Bomb Man when they went one-on-one. Fire Man has to be champ! I remember many years ago in the World Cup, Ireland beat Italy in the Group Stage, but lost overall. Italy went on the be the World Cup champion. Ice Man is sort of the Ireland of this, he barely got any points but he's the only one to beat Fire Man.
Super! Man, I am really surprised. I beat Mega Man 1 like 10 times and only now I've learnt that Ice Slasher doesn't do damage to some bosses. Same applies for Super Arm. Developers must have thought "there's no blocks here so there's no way to use it, then damage will be null". I always wished there'd be more throwable blocks in the game, because I always felt it was more of an eventual item rather than a fully fledged weapon. Spawning the blocks, back in 1999, I thought would've been the best thing to do to fix it Nice video!
I didn’t expect most of Elecman’s even-strength losses to be because of his AI’s need for precise positioning before firing. That was a bit of a shock. Pun absolutely intended lol It is clear that, while Guts Man may not be the brightest robot master, Elecman is confirmed to be absolutely stupid as Hades lol.
I love this! Ive always been inspired to make a game based on megaman style bosses with some player input; hoping you do enough to set your AI up to win
My commentary for the fights: (Again, spoilers below for people who scroll the comments before watching videos) Iceman VS Fireman for the first match? Yeah, Fireman's done for. They both had the best strategies in the fixed league, but now that damage isn't fixed, Iceman takes this one handily. He's not as spammy as Fireman, but his attacks cover more ground to make up for it. Elecman couldn't make the cut for the match, at all. Sure, he's got speed, but Cutman's jumpiness combined with Elecman not attacking until Thunder Beam leaves the screen cripples him badly enough without accounting for weaknesses. Small wonder Wily based Quickman on both their designs. 👍 Wait, Super Arm doesn't do damage to Iceman?!? Wasn't expecting that! I guess Wily fixes that in the future, considering that in Power Battle you can get Iceman into a flinch loop with Guts Boulder. Ice Slasher not doing anything to Gutman kinda makes sense in MM1, considering he's supposed to be tanky. I had no clue that Fire Wave's range was that big. I guess it just barely peaks out above the Guts Blocks? Intresting. 🤔 I feel like Gutsman only won against Cutman because Super Arm twoshots Cutman. And since he's guaranteed at least 1 attack, then all he's gotta do it hit him again. Poor, poor Cutman. Ice Slasher doesn't damage Elecman? Really? I thought it was supposed to be a piercing weapon like Rolling Cutter, and considering how frail Elecman is, I would've expected it to do at least 5 damage. Guess ya learn something new everyday 🤷♂ Ice Slasher does nothing to Bombman either...considering how similar their attack patterns are, I can't help but feel bad for Iceman here. The fixed damage league made me think it would've been closer. But this is consistant with Powered Up, his weakness there is Hyper Bomb, so I guess when Wily messed around with time it traded one weakness for another. Super Arm doesn't do anything to Bombman either...? How?!? Gutsman's throwing a boulder at least twice his size at Bombman, how does that do nothing?!? Is Bombman secretly tankier than Gutsman or something? 🤣 Ok, so since Cutman is the *4th* Robot Master that Ice Slasher doesn't effect, I'm starting to think that Wily did that intentionally, just in case Iceman ever went rogue. It makes sense when Ice Slasher does CRIPPLING damage to Megaman and freezes enemies on top of that, so I don't blame him for being paranoid. 🥶 Elec Beam does only *2 damage* to Bombman? First Super Arm, and now this! Bombman, what's your secret? 🤔 Super Arm does nothing to Fireman...that's half of the MM1 Robot Masters. I feel like maybe if Gutsman had enough intuition to actually get in close and punch his enemies, it would at least do damage 🤣 Cutman and Bombman do 2 damage to eachother...this one comes down to how many times Cutman hits Bombman per attack. Sure, Bombman stands in place when attacked, but at least he doesn't have to wait for Hyper Bomb to come back to him! Wasn't expecting Cutman to lose 17 to 3 though, that's a bit harsh. Gutsman WON against Elecman?!?😱 I mean on one hand, they both have "power" type Weapons, but they're crippled in diffrent ways (Elecman only attacking when in certain spots, Gutsman only attacking when stunned). I guess it's all down to Elecman not timing his jumps Regarding the final results: Iceman got in last this time?!? 🥶 But he was in the top 3 last time! I guess he got crippled by the same problem as Elecman... Gutsman getting in 2nd is kinda funny to me, considering how much the Fixed Damage league highlighted his flaws. And of course, Fireman makes the top spot again, due to firing rate. I just wish Timeman and Oilman could be here, but oh well! - - - - So, comparing my notes from the Fixed League to this, if we go by the AI shown here, then in order from least competent to most competent, the MM1 NES Robot Master AI is ranked as follows: *Competence Ranking!* 6th place: ⚡Elecman⚡ (his whole strategy boils down to "Fire Thunder Beam and pray the match ends fast or I'm screwed as soon as anyone finds out my flaws") 5th place: ❄Iceman❄ (His attacks cover A LOT of range alltogether, and requires precision dodging, but as soon as you take away fixed damage...he's done for. Really, the only other reason he's considered dangerous is that he does a whopping *1/3rd* of Rock's HP per hit. A bit suprising, to say the least, but the other reason he's ranked lower here is due to his weapon not being able to damage more than half the Megaman NES RMs, DESPITE it being a piercing weapon. That, and like Elecman he takes 1/3rd of his HP in damage if hit by his weakness.) 4th place: 💪Gutsman💪 (Yes, really. Despite his flaws, he can at least tank some hits, but aside from that, he's better off as a distraction at best. His weapon at least causes damage to more enemies than Ice Slasher) 3rd place: ✂Cutman✂ (His 2 main flaws prevent him from being in second, but if he didn't need to wait for Rolling Cutter to return he'd be ranked higher. I guess it makes sense for him to be 3rd though.) 2nd place: 💣Bombman💣 (He can trick opponents into walking into the range of his Hyper Bombs, and does some good damage despite the lack of fixed damage. Add in his jumpyness, and the ability to be suprisingly tanky, and it's no wonder he got in second place) 👑1st place: 🔥Fireman🔥 (One thing I've noticed in both tournaments is that he is the ONLY Robot Master with a higher firing rate than Iceman, which really works in his favor! Combine that with smaller scattered flames doing an additional 1 damage on top of his already high output, and said scattered fire being a trap, and it's no wonder Fireman's the top spot! And that's not even getting into how his projectile is faster than Thunder Beam and 2 tiles high! If one were to combine Iceman's attack pattern with Fire Wave's projectile size, Fireman's spamminess, and the ability to do *10 damage per hit*, we'd be looking at a real monster of a bossfight if it ever happened in Megaman NES! 😱) Congratulations to Fireman, on being THE most competent Robot Master in Megaman 1 NES! May your flames burn brightly and cheerfully! 🎉 Again, thank you for posting, these are a treat to watch! 😄👍
Always made sense to me. Fire needs a certain amount of heat to continue to burn. Cold temperature can put out fire. Ice is also made out of water so even if the fire melts the ice, the water would put out the fire.
So when damage is not fixed elecman still sucks but at least ice man sits at the bottom with him. Cutman is paired with gutsman naturally, and good on guts for getting some good wins this time. And now, from the bottom to the top, BOMB MAN NOW SITS AT THE TOP WITH FIRE MAN! let’s go! Too bad fire man still kicks his ass no matter what
The flames of justice still burn brightly! Kinda surprised Ice Man and Elec Man ended up bottom, when they’re the toughest robot masters in the game, and that Bomb Man came first when he's one of the easiest. But then again, damage differences and AI patterns and what not.
@@truthseekers1620 Look me in the eyes and tell me again that Ice Man is 'easy' again then. He fires his projectiles 6 times, and packs them pretty close together, and does as much damage as Elec Man does. I wouldnt't say he's harder than Elec Man, especially if you use his weakness, but he's still not really all that easy without his weakness.
Poor Ice Man. And the hell, bomb man just..let a bomb fall lose on elec man..so funny. If this was accuracy bomb man would win..he beats guts man due to weakness and mobility.
@josejuniorsantos7072 I haven't decided on a name for the game 8), hmm it might be Mega Man Victory (or Mega Man Victories) oh, which one Mega man at the end of the video?
@yoshitaxfraudosaurus4270 hmmmm, I think the period is about 3 years. but I don't know how long it actually took because I was lazy and didn't make on many days 8(. It is clear that my making is very slow 8)
Oh certainly, I remember being stuck on elec man for ages before finding out his weakness. And even then I had to play more skilfully than just random jumping like cutman
@@notsyzagts7967 I misunderstood the assignment! I thought it was gonna be using the damage they do to Mega Man in the boss fights, not the weakness damage units
The designers intended for Mega/Rockman to be the one using weapons against these guys, not each other. It makes perfect sense, since whatever the player would use against a master would also work when they use it natively. The way these games are designed, there will always be plenty of "one-sided" fights occurring. It's as simple as that. Don't expect much difference with the sequels.
