You wouldnt be ugly in the 1970-1980s because the average woman (lets say on your level of attractiveness) would only meet 10-20 guys interested in her in her entire life. You remind me of something I have thought about since the Trump Era Corporate tax cuts supercharged the replacement of customer service workers with automated systems (think grocery checkouts and fast-food kiosks for example). That money was never "trickling down" to be reinvested in the human workforce. Employees get sick, they have babies and both parents go on maternity leave with pay. Employees want benefits in addition to salary because (a) they have dependents and (b) will need to retire at a future date when they can't work. In addition to that, they can sue you if they get hurt on the job or for other reasons like discrimination. What employer wouldn't want a computer or machine instead of a complicated and messy employee to deal with...even self-driving delivery truck with no driver that just needs repair and maintenance is a win and that one's coming too. AI girlfriends are the same concept. Your point is taken. However, it's not just AI girlfriends. The concept is portable. It reminds me of the chant at the Charlotteville "Unite the Right" rally: "You will not replace us." Those young men were worried about minorities or immigrants. They were scared of the wrong thing.

Like most people, I grew up believing that one of the keys to happiness was to find the 'perfect' woman. I spent most of my life chasing that dream, but each time a relationship ended I found myself feeling a little bit smaller. Finally, after my last breakup, I began the usual process of weighing my options (I was in my early 50s at the time). But thankfully, I stepped back and asked myself honestly -- for the first time ever -- _"Is this REALLY what I want?"_ To my surprise, I found the answer was "no." I finally decided that my self esteem didn't need another beating. I'm happier and more content now than I ever was when I was dating. I see no need for an "AI" girlfriend, but I can certainly empathize with those who do.
The biggest misconception about the need to "connect" is that it has to be within the context of "marriage" or "long lasting relationship". It doesn't. Connection is created whenever there is an emotionally worthwhile and satisfying exchange between individuals. I myself am married with children, but I have seen quite a number of my friends who are happy with having friends, relatives, and even the interactions that they get from their activities or jobs fulfill that need for connection. If the guys are lonely but then get idealistic AI partners, then at that point they're probably not lonely anymore. I know a lot of guys in their 20's and 30's who have been without a girlfriend for years, sometimes over a decade, and have given up on trying to even find a date, let alone a steady relationship. Society itself has a lot of responsibility in this. Women are held to unreasonable standards of body and performance, but so are men. AI doesn't judge you on your body, your income, your ride. Once they combine efficient AI with high end, custom sex dolls, you'll see more of this.

You’re absolutely right, no man is choosing AI girlfriends over a real one, it’s desperate people that don’t even have a choice that are doing this. Everytime I get a girl its a mess. Power dynamics. Headgames. They subconsciously see me as all their exes. Or want you to break your back doing shit like a mule. or want money, or piss an ex off. Or they are still legally married. Always a bunch of baggage. I like to think its all statistically anomalies but i dont know. Sometimes being single sucks but my headspace feels so much more free while single. I'm not ruling anything out but I'm definitely not desperate. These people seem really out of touch. The reason so many men don't have girlfriends isn't because of a new concept of AIs, it's due to it no longer being socially acceptable for men to ask women out in most in-person contexts and there being a huge disparity between men and women on dating sites that allows women to be very selective in who they choose. I personally gave up on online dating sites after 10 years of sending thousands of personalized messages to women based on what they wrote on their profiles and yet not getting a single date. To say that system does not work is an extreme understatement. This AI girlfriend thing doesn't really sound interesting to me personally, but I understand where someone would be coming from who would want to have one.

If a woman is shopping in a grocery store she probably doesn't want to be approached or be complimented in an objectifying way when the lady is just tryna get groceries. Women make up a small percentage compared to men on dating sites and that's probably including bots. So when you have a very uneven male to female ratio, she probably already connected with someone before you had the chance. If I was a man i'd find that to be discouraging as anyone would, that definitely has a lot to do with personal physical preferences, people like what they like and that won't change.

Women are not out here demanding relationships though. The general consensus within my generation is that it is just fine to be single, independent, and choose a life that does not include a bond to men, but men are the ones who made it a problem bc they can’t stand the blatant reality that they are not a necessity (and in some cases, not even a desire) to women. I meannn never in history have women had so much freedom and independence that marriage and relationships are now an OPTION and CHOICE rather than being forced to for survival (I.e laws preventing them from owning land and property, the workforce etc)

It is easy to blame women. Nobody but men in our male dominated culture are to blame. Hear me out. I grew up in the 1960's. The general cultural milieu mocked and derided women relentlessly. TV and comedians 100% ridiculed women. Advertising for a major airline had a sexy stewardess caressing a seat back and purring, fly me. Generously endowed women would squeeze out of shaving cream cans to beckon the horney guy. Magazine ads, you name the source, it was all about the female wanting to pleasure the man. The expectation was that women needed to give sex to men because that was all you existed for. It was of course when reliable birth control was invented. But if you did become pregnant, it was the woman's whole fault and responsibility. Many men, to this day, feel pregnancy is a woman's responsibility. The saddest thing about the AI generated relationship is that it's not a relationship. But on the bright side, men don't care.

If you're worried about that, then I can calm you down. One of the biggest reasons why people get together is because life is hard when single. It's kinda hard working for 8 hours, travelling to- and from work for another hour, and then you get home and you have to cook, clean, wash your clothes and all the other chores. The problem now is that everybody is a literal child typing on tiktok. When these "fat women" grow up during the next decade, they are about to find out real soon how many of them are actually able to live single.

I see nothing wrong with AI relationships. It's a low risk alternative, and the choice of these men, so leave them to it. So many real relationships end in divorce or break up where men unfairly lose ( money, assets alimony, lack of child access, ). Society pressures have also encouraged young women to be unrealistically picky about romantic partners. Try dating as a short man, and see what I mean. Sounds to me some women are upset over a bit of competition, some men are simply rejecting today's unreasonable dating world for the peace, assurance, and acceptance that real world relationships lack.
Men expect more and more from women. Men demand to share 50-50 on every bill and don't want to be providers but still expect women to also do all the housework, childcare, cook, clean, while being beautiful, sexy, and serving him perfect sex, perfect emotion everynight.
