Lawmakers are not smart enough to regulate this. They barely know how to use email and the internet. It will come down to the money Lawmakers get and from which side.

Dont trust Open AI. This is a gold mine for them and mining companies have a terrible historical track record of being societal predators. We need highly intelligent people to reign this stuff in and make sure it is not used in nefarious ways. That is why RFK Jr chose Nicole Shanahan as his VP; she has the expertise to spearhead a team that will be dedicated to protecting Americans from this growing technology. Neither Biden or Trump has a clue about this. We need competent, forward thinking leadership and Kennedy is the only candidate who fills that bill.

I dislike AI intensely. I am in my 70's and was born to interact with other humans. Take those mechanical minds and go to another realm but get out of my earthly experience.

What about the grunt work it will take away, isn't that good? Also older people may benefit from assistant robots at home. Another good thing is faster drug discovery. I ahso like how it provides faster and more accurate diagnosis

Artificial intelligence does not pose a threat to humans, but rather will serve as a tool to help humans. The real danger comes from the irrational animal characteristics of humans, such as destructive irrational animal meanness, greed, grudges, and hatred. Artificial intelligence is a tool that depends on the goals of those who use it.

You can't ensure the LLM/neural nets don't have biases/ guarantee that they don't do something. Otherwise you would solve alignment. Which is probably impossible especially for ASI

You can't legislate bias out of current AI algorithms, as they pretty much just mimic existing biases. The Hill would be well advised to bring in someone who knows how some of these algorithms work.

Actually AI has the prompt that you enter AND a system prompt that they can update at will. Somebody found several system prompts a few months ago and put them up on X. Beyond that Anthropomorphic has a very nice research / white paper out on “constitutional AI” and basically the biases of the dataset & the biases of the trainers are pretty inherent as you said… but on their Claude AI it is instructed to also run the answer through a check or test before you see the results. It’s something like “ensure your answer is not offensive, racist, illegal, etc”. The cure is that we need to be able to see the rules and directions imposed on the AI so that it doesn’t act to steer human opinion in favor of being politically correct rather than being actually correct.

@@TheLastSaneAmerican That's kind of the problem. AI has no means for checking correctness of its result. No AI does. It's an inherent flaw in the underlying algorithms.

What AI does not get is our ability of critical thinking. although in great dismay. critical thinking is not taught in school and not practiced enough in our general population

Children need to be taught how to think for themselves and not rely on AI to do everything. Most kids don't know how to research a book report, how can we expect them to make informed decisions if they don't know how to research. AI will only harm critical thinking skills, which might be beneficial to the government, but is bad for the voters.

@@slappedegg1056 I won't trust it either, ever. But it is here whether we like it or not so we need to get behind the people who are knowledgeable about ways to minimize it's chances to harm us. It's a serious matter that seems to be going over a lot of peoples' heads which is to the detriment of all of us. I want to see it regulated as much as possible and we need a forward thinking leader to do that. Biden and Trump or ignoring it and that will lead to disaster. It's one of the main reasons I am supporting RFK Jr. He is also against central bank digital currencies that are intended to be used in ways that will monitor and control us. I am for preserving a humane society with our freedoms intact.
