Let me start by saying , Welcome to Haiti . I was born in raised in Petion ville ( Laboule 12 to be precise ) Which is a commune and a suburb of Port -au-Prince located on the west part . The city was named after one of our founding fathers Alexandre Petion ( Petion was his last name and ville can be translated as city , basically the city of Petion , was founded in 1831, one of the most historic sites we have is Fort Jacques, built in 1806 exactly 2 years after we gained our independance ., rent is more expensive there, so is the cost of living . I left when I was 16 yrs old to move to the States came back 20 years later after I opened my shop in Peguy ville . My hubby and I are currently living in montagne noire which is like 15 minutes away by car, 8 minutes away on a bike to the Caraibean market , that bakery is one of my favorite places to eat , love their coffee ( honestly I think its better than Starbucks looolll" . I go there almost everyday .I love their "Kibi "and their meatballs known as" Boulette " kind of spicy and delicious (omg don't get me started I know i'm weird looooolll) . I would love to meet you guys one day . I have a question .What s your favorite dish so far ? . I was in Haiti seven months ago and I carried my tablet all over and was never bothered. Lovely people. Reminded me of the Canadian people here. Very polite and standoffish until they know you and then they open their hearts. Loved it there and can't wait to go back.
