Yeah maybe in like 100 years or more when A.I. robots are able to do everything. But at that point every country is going to start becoming developed so it makes no difference. If anything there is a chance Haiti could lose a large portion of its coast line due to ocean rising.

Let me ask you something, since you have so much to critique, what exactly are you doing to improve the "infrastructure" or the economy there??? I'll wait while you dig thru your receipts.... Meanwhile show a little respect for the natives and those who are from Haiti that live elsewhere...🤦🏾‍♀️ there's a way to express your opinion without being offensive to others...

The yearly rent is just the local system. You can pay every six months too. Haitian people are used to the system, it's always been like that, nothing to do with trust. I'm fact there is a term for that it's called "Enfermmer" it's bi annually or annually. There is also. "Loyer" which is monthly. When you are renting you have to find out if the place is "à enfermmer" or à loyer.

@marahlia

You must ponder your decision and plan carefully before moving. Considering you two have never lived in Haiti, it will take some serious adjustments because living in Haiti is the opposite of what you are used to here in the state. I suggest you make a few trips and observe before moving for good. Good luck!

I was so relaxed, and comfortable layed back the food awesome, culture, people warm hearts filled with love to give, and O' the women they are so submissive to their man. I regret not knowing this earlier in my life; but this is were it gets sad i had to leave because my whole life saving was finished ; but I'll be back stronger then ever..

I hate when Americans go to Haïti and don't even understand the language or the culture, I don't care if she is of Haïtian descent. This is not French we're speaking, blan is not JUST the color "white", blan means foreigner in Kreyòl. An African-American, an Asian, a Mexican are all "blan yo." We know you're color already.
@lisad2067
@lisad2067 8 лет назад
that's not true blan means white. If you are light-skinned, they might call u blan as well, but they know ur not white, they know the difference. African-American are not considered as blan
@Lukeandsemone
@Lukeandsemone 8 лет назад
That has not been our experience. That's true that people with white or light skin are called "blan", but from what we have gathered, "blan" is frequently used to refer to a foreigner (i.e. non-Haitian). If you are black, Haitians assume you are also Haitian. A lot of Haitians we meet who have never been to the US don't know that there are African-Americans--they assume that all black Americans are Haitians. But if they know you are a foreigner you are still called "blan" sometimes.
@lisad2067

New to your channel, but wanted to know why did you guys move to Haiti? I'm Haitian living in the U.S and I'm guessing you're not Haitians. Can you guys do a Q&A? Do you plan on doing more videos?

Hey Empress0722! Thanks for coming to the channel :) We moved to Haiti after praying, learning and visiting. We felt God was calling us there to serve and use our gifts to empower and encourage Haitians. We are not Haitian and have been learning Creole and culture for the past year. We do plan on making more videos and a Q&A is a great idea :) You can learn more about our vision for our work in Haiti here: www.lukeandsemone.com/haiti/ Thanks for watching and for commenting!

Devonte Terry Gourdes🤣..no way. Everything you pay for in Haiti is in American dollar or equivalent in gourdes but it still a lot because the American dollar is the strongest one, you need a whole lot amount of gourdes to have a little small amount of us $$$.

Why did you guys choose to live in Haiti rather than the US? And how long do you plan on staying there? I think it's cool to live there for about a year just to try something fun but not to stay there forever though.
@Lukeandsemone

We never would have chosen Haiti, but God said go! We're planning to live here indefinitely.

@Lukeandsemone

+Carolanne Tomsine Hey! We felt called to come here, and we want to help encourage and empower Haitians in both business and ministry. We started an organization called Home For The Nations that will be focused on these things, especially in the context of building relationships and developing communities. We're taking things super slow though to learn culture and language before we do too much. Thanks for asking!

+Luke & Semone woow, well thats amazing! Why did you feel called to Haiti?
@Lukeandsemone
@Lukeandsemone 8 лет назад
Well, we knew God was calling us to go to other nations. Shortly after we got married God spoke Haiti to us. We had never been, but we pursued it and went two times for a short trip. We moved here last year, and God has been guiding us ever since.
